  1. Cool, great photos as usual Steve! Corey, it would be great to do photos or video during the intermediate session, head inside, watch the video, head back out, maybe repeat one more time. Looking at the pics, I can see the difference from earlier in the day to the workshop, and still not getting low enough or shoulders parallel enough across the fall line. It would be great to get that instant feedback and another shot!
  2. I grew up there, since it was Tod Mountain (still is on that I guess). The cinnamon buns in the main daylodge are pretty damn good. Eat less at lunch and save room, they are pretty big. I haven't explored the village much in recent years for food suggestions. The best carving runs are probably on the Sundance Chair (far right hand) in the morning (everything is basically blue and groomed and super wide), and the blue runs (Blazer, Cruiser, Exhibition--watch out for the cat track 2/3 way down, it can send you flying) off of the main bubble lift in the afternoon. It's a pretty long cat track to get to them though, but if the snow is set up enough, shouldn't be a big deal. Cariboo is black, sometimes groomed and would be pretty epic if it is. Avoid the Mt. Morrisey side until you talk to some locals about snow conditions. It can get pretty rocky over there and it's a pain to get back and forth from. It's a pretty amazing hill. Take a softie setup too and explore the backside t-bar, Headwalls, and the crazy tree runs which you won't find without some local intel--maybe some 8 year olds. You gotta do 5-mile top to bottom at least once without stopping. It's flat as hell, but a good bit of exercise at the end of the day.
  3. I'm not going to make it up today. If anybody has pictures they want included in the photo book/magazine, put them in this folder: NES 2013 Photo Drop Box Any file type is fine. Bigger file sizes are better. If the folder fills up, let me know and I'll empty it. Once it's ready, I'll post a link to purchase from Blurb. See you all next year!
  4. This is for Alison and corey: not feeling 100% wil drive myself.
  5. Hardcore, knees together through neck high moguls.
  6. Try some crash shorts (for snowboarding or MTB) your first few days out. I found that I wiped out a lot on my hips rather than my butt these helped out a lot and raised the confidence up. Best advice ever though, find some local riders and hit them up for a day or more of riding time. I have yet to meet an alpine rider who wouldn't love to take somebody interested seriously in getting into the sport out for a day or at least a few runs.
  7. Kind of far from the lift line... but is that a monoski? Yes... crazy taper, almost looks like a dual sidecut 13M-50M or something crazy like that. Neat though. Really stiff in the middle to the back and floppy up front. Pretty girl is 5-month pregnant wife whose doctor couldn't quite visualize a ski lift nevermind skiing this year.
  8. If anybody's heading up Tues or Wed, can you fire off a snow report on here? It's quite costly for me to take a personal day, and time consuming writing up sub plans too.. I'll make a final decision Wednesday, gotta let Corey and Alison know. Any thoughts about Sunday? Seems as though it's been Louise/Sunshine past few years. Update: I'm in for Saturday/Sunday and will probably have one extra seat Saturday. Steph might come out Sunday and spend the day in Banff if there are any female non-riding partner types (or male ones I guess) who would enjoy a day doing whatever pregnant ladies do. I'll bring my laptop to Steve's house Saturday night if anybody has pics or video for the photo book. Whatever file format is fine, I run Lightroom, but don't have a CF reader. I'll clean out my Dropbox as well for any others or pics from Sunday. Should take me a few days and I'll put the link on here for the magazine.
  9. Sounds good. I need to clear the personal day Friday with my boss, won't know probably until Tuesday 100% for sure. Corey, and Alison, can you PM me your cell numbers just in case we need to get in touch? One more seat if anybody else wants to meet up.
  10. Don't think mine will be that good. i do want to play with some flash effects though. I had offered to do a magazine kind of thing. Anybody interested in a rider profile? Could do a short one for everybody too, help people get to know everybody.
  11. 3 min difference. Let's make that a meeting place. 2 more belts. Which hotel?
  12. I have 3 belts and roof box. We met at dennys by the sandman on 16th one year that worked well. Corey are you staying there again? Pouaten, I live far NW just off stoney if you want to leave car at my place sat? Its exactly 15 min from airdrie... work there.
  13. ... Call Sean. I ended up getting my ride from Coiler bc I'm canadian but would have just easily gone with Donek. He is super helpful and top quality and tech. Clearly too polite to make that plug himself!
  14. The cat was off of North Axe by about 2 and they looked to be prepping for grooming. It's amazing to watch those guys work. We should toss 'em a case of beer from our crew to hope for nice cord. Urs, not sure if you are on BOL but you were ripping man! I yelled your name from the lift, but I was rocking the softies today and out of my "uniform" red jacket.
  15. There is a foaming liquid wrench (yellow bolt-shaped cap) that I used successfully on the transmission bolts on my truck. I couldn't break those loose with a 2' breaker bar, and after 10 min with that on, they popped right off with a regular wrench. I would imagine that it would be pretty bad for topsheets and epoxies, so take-er easy! The foam helps it stay in place, although it basically does the same thing as WD-40. I also wouldn't force anything for risk of spinning the inserts in your board. I just removed a stripped screw using a screw remover from Canadian tire. It's double-sided with a drill on one side (step 1) and a reverse thread thing on the other side (step 2). Took 2 min and I was able to unscrew using a wrench instead of the drill.
  16. That is totally crazy. It's nuts to think that most of that is happening at well over 100 km an hour.
  17. As stated. Fire me an email with price including shipping to T3P0A8 in Calgary, AB. Nick
  18. I would find a really good sports physio first and get them to test for muscle balance/imbalance. In the past, I have worn the stabilizing braces (which would be a lot more beefy than the compression one) and I found that my knee got worse due to lack of muscle growth in the muscles required to stabilize things. The best thing for my knee (nickname is a hint as to injury... it is lots of titanium in there) is really good muscle training program that focuses on stability and strength. Avoid the machine where you dangle your foot over and raise up a weight. That's really really bad for your knees. That said, the compression seems to increase bloodflow and keep things warm, so couldn't hurt. Just not a long-term solution. Personally would avoid the beefy braces unless required by a good sports med doc or physio.
  19. Points to the great job Steve does and all the wicked riders! Kudos
  20. Sounds like a plan. Usual spot in the lodge? I might take Steph's cousin up for the day, but nothing firm so far. 2 or 3 seatbelts depending if anybody wants to carpool out. My knee is usually spent by 2 or 2:30 maybe earlier, but I'm cool doing whatever. Steph's pregnant with our first baby :) so I'm riding solo this year and doubt I'll see anybody next year!!
  21. Saturday, Dec 01? Open to heading anywhere. Probably will SB in the afternoon as my knee has been pretty sore and I want to get in some laps on the new Arbor.
  22. From any pics I take, for sure. From Steve or anybody else, you'd have to ask them.
  23. If you drink beer, you can come both days! Seriously though, book off the time. It's worth it to ride with so many good riders.
