  1. Anybody have a report from Nakiska recently? Anybody headed out next weekend if snow/weather is good?
  2. You can vote for more than one option. I just got one of the hardcover books from a previous vacation today. It looks amazing. 100% better quality than the Apple or London Drugs books. I think the magazine is the way to go. We can put more big pictures in, and it's between 11 and 16 bucks for up to 150 pages. That seems pretty reasonable to me!
  3. yep I'll do layout with whomever's pics. There is also an option for an iPad book... to me not as permanent but cool too.
  4. Feedback :) Just to add to the post in the NES thread: - Willing to put together a photobook/magazine from our event this year. $10-12 for magazine, $20-25 for book. - Will use anybody's photos who is willing to share - You pay for and have it shipped straight from blurb.ca, it's kept private in there so only people with link can purchase - Quality is excellent from the samples I have seen from the company
  5. Would anybody be interested in having me put together a nice photo book of our event? I'll join Steve as a photographer this year (probably not nearly as good). I just finished a class, and the instructor had some examples from blurb.ca. They looked amazing... They do magazine publishing too. If we got photo permission from everybody, you could just buy your own copy, shipped right to you. Bulk discounts don't kick in until about 12. Thoughts?
  6. Go custom. Call Bruce at Coiler or Sean at Donek. I ended up going with Bruce, mainly because I am in Canada too. Got exactly what I wanted, built for my weight, height, terrain, bad knee etc... Custom topsheet and totally worth every penny. FWIW, I ended up with a 171 and I'm only 155. The extra 7 cm compared to the 4wd that I just sold gave me a lot of extra stability and the turning radius can be customized for your narrowness. Boots: try them on. See if anybody local has the Deeluxe, Head, or UPZ shells even to try on. You could use your old liners to reduce some variables and see where the pressure points on the shells are. N.
  7. Glad to hear it! Enjoy and hopefully see you in Jan.
  8. Sold, thanks GeeWiz. Great to deal with and quick payment. He's looking for decent bindings and a recommended buyer. N
  9. I'll be sad to see it go... but you know with the wife and all. She kind of understood the metal vs non-metal thing but really doesn't care. 99% sold, just awaiting payment and it'll be in the mail. See you guys at NES. Chris, keep an eye on the Alberta message board and join us at NES for the weekend--it's an absolute blast. I'm starting a photography course tonight so I might give Steve a break from time to time ;) Nick
  10. I think at this point I just need to downsize. Buy the Prior though... it could pass for new save 6 days and sell your softie setup locally! PM me with an offer if you want :)
  11. I'm willing to discuss price. Would like to sell soon.
  12. No longer looking for softie setup.
  13. i have a Prior 4wd for sale, check classifieds. its a great beginner board in almost new condition. sorry no bindings.
  14. It's glass, 09/10 built around January. 9.5 M Radius, 21.4 waist, 2.5 setback. More detailed specs are on the Prior website... can't seem to cut/paste into this window. I haven't heard back from Surf Quebec after sending pics so it's still open market! FYI the last board I sent to the US was about 45 through FedEx or UPS (I forget which)
  15. 15 total days, edges and base are pristine. Enjoying my Coiler too much. Asking $400 plus shipping. Willing to negotiate a bit on price. 16. It was really cruddy first thing in the morning. Felt like it had rained and I was punching through the first inch or so and digging right in. Both Steph and I found our knees really hurting so we packed it in with a snow-check. Hopefully the conditions softened and are better today!
  17. I used GIMP (free) and got my artwork from the stock photo/graphic sites (I forget exactly which one). It really wasn't that challenging with some decent computer skills. Bruce charged 20 bucks to print, and I think made 3-4 prints before he laid it on my board. I think though that mine was in the first batch with his printing equipment. It looks amazing... covered with snow or not!
  18. Second Allee's comments! If you're really serious about getting started, try to borrow some gear for a few trips out, but when you're buying don't skimp too much especially with boots. There are a lot of really great riders in Calgary that are significantly better than me! They are really helpful and a good group to ride with.
  19. It's been dumping at Sun Peaks (relatively speaking). The snow is super soft and I switched to the SB for the afternoon today. Hopefully it firms up a bit for the rest of the week. If anybody's in the area, drop me a message. Nick
  20. I'm out of funds for lift tickets until after my trip to Sun Peaks mid-month, but I wanted to get out with a video camera with somebody one weekend and trade videoing and being videoed. Oh, and don't skip NES ;)
  21. Check the Whistler Craigslist. PM me if you can't find it... I have the guy's email.
  22. Really worth considering snowboard boots though! Do a Craigslist and ebay search... you can usually find some really cheap. I sold a few pairs last year that I was testing the fit of, bought for around 75 and sold for 5-10 less. Nick
  23. I'd invest in a P-Tex gun... it'll stick much better. I have a KUU which looks like a soldering iron (It most likely is one!) and the flat p-tex sticks. You won't get the carbon from the burning of the candle, and when you're done, you will hardly see the repair. Kuu Gun
  24. Hey Steve, I won't be able to make dinner... a bit too far south and I'm just home now. Time for a nap and some serious stretching! I'll mirror Kurt's sentiments... I was riding about 75% today and really looking forward to tomorrow.
