  1. I've a few friends who ride different boards with Magne-Traction type edges, Rossignol and Jones boards specifically. Most say they love it. They are all soft booters btw. But one of them who was a huge proponent of it when it first came out is now waiting on his new Donek Incline 170 that is definately not mag track. He says he is tired of not having the speed when turning, the board feels like it's slowing down in the turns, and is "grabby" when on edge. Personally I can't say since I've never ridden one. I'm sure that there are fans of it that wouldn't ride anything else now. Just my 2 cents.
  2. Nice quiver you have there Bryan!
  3. I agree Bryan. That is a nice jacket Art, but the photo is even grainier than Softbootsailer's postings. But Great form in your turn.
  4. Bryan it kinda looks like you were dealing with some small 'death cookies' on those trails also.
  5. Day 1 of the season yesterday at Snowbasin, basically one run open for now. We'll be going again tomorrow and hoping for more snow next week and the week after. I think Colorado stole our snow so far this season.
  6. Welcome to BOL, I'm sure you will get the info you need from people on this site. Mick
  7. Great updates, they help to let me know what sort of conditions Trish and I might be facing at Snowbasin starting Friday. Looking at scrapy and zoo time with only a few runs open. Oh well it's a start! Mick
  8. Glad to hear you got some runs in Art. The snow will get better and more runs will open up soon, the crowds well they'll get crowdy-er. PC is a great mountain to ride at. If you get a chance this season come on over to Snowbasin and Powder Mountain, they are pretty fun places to ride at also.
  9. I believe so that that is the time frame, they are a bit stiff, but to me that tranlates into extra "pop" out of turns. You did make a good score on that board. I think you will enjoy riding it. Have fun with it.
  10. I have a 178 Summit. Love it, it's a great powder board and carves well on hardpack. I used it with plate bindings. My wife also rode this board, she is 5'2", and she rode the heck out of it, she also loved it. Great board in my opinion. Not sure of the construction though. It's probably listed somewhere on the web. The only spec's I know are, it is a Carbon cap construction with a light weight wood core and a Diamond disc finished base.
  11. Did you bring a BIG sack lunch along for while you're waiting?
  12. 2nd in line if Fish n' Chips deal doesn't go through.
  13. Art, welcome to being a Utard. But it is now just called Eastern L.A. With all of the transplants from groovy, bitchin', gnarly land.
  14. I had one of those, black with an Austin Healy engine in it, bought it when I came back from Viet Nam. Awesome woody, wish I still owned it.
  15. Looks like those Russian guys and gals know how to have a bunch of FUN!
  16. Hey Art and Steve, welcome to Utah, sorry, I already have dibs on this plate!
  17. Thanks Bryan, That's probably a better idea. I wouldn't want to ruin a board with an experiment like putting it in the direct sunlight.
  18. Just wondering if anyone has ever put a board outside in direct sunlight, base up, after hotwaxing with a liberal amount of wax, to get a poor mans version of hotboxing their board? The temps here the next 5 days are 100 degrees and above. Just wonder if this is a good, or very bad idea, with potential problems, or "what a great idea". Thanks for any and all replies. Mick
  19. Welcome to Utah, Steve and Art, You'll love the snow here, and there are a number of great resorts in the Wasatch above the Salt Lake valley. I've also heard that Sundance is fun, which is above Provo. I ride further north at Snowbasin and Powder Mountain, fewer people than the Cottonwoods and PCMR, hurray for that! Give me a holler when the season starts and we can get together and ride. Art I've already ridden with you at COW and I'll do my best to keep up, maybe utahcarver can also swing it with his school schedule. Mick

I've tried to get a shipping cost from UPS, with no luck. Too much of a hassle, so I'm out. Mick
  21. Big Dog Dave was a perfect trail boss, and that poem describes him very well. He even managed to round up a stray out on the range and convert him to the hardboot campsite. Thanks Kelly and Dave for a great COW. We look forward to some new trailriding adventures with you next year. at the Ghee. Trish and Mick
