  1. Still wondering about stiffness. Can somebody made direct comparison between Standard MS and Old Head Stratos or UPZ AT8? I like softer flex on “Raichle” type boots I am using yellow tongue which is the softest and soft springs on DGSS. Any input welcome, I don’t want to dump $1000 for boots, which will not work from start. Like I didn’t do it in the past. As I see MS coming with only one tongue stiffness? Thanks.
  2. Solidly Frozen Torx heads. It will be nightmare on slopes.
  3. I would just say some boards just fit you right away and some just don’t. That’s my experience. To buy board depend what people say it is always a risk. That’s way I Iiked SES. I could try so many boards from different manufacturers. And sometimes just one run told you yes or now. But it is all the past.
  4. Or how to call them. Fisher Travers. Definitely the lightest boots I ever had. I got them for decent price. The picture shows original lock configuration and spring modification. Locked in standard configuration are pretty solid for me. Unlocked are absolutely soft with huge degree of motion to walk or climb. Back springs version with is just first interaction is rather soft. The boots don’t have a tongue so any stiffness must be done by springs in back. I have next version in my head. If nothing it is nice project to keep my mind occupied with something else than cancer.
  5. A couple weeks ago at Kirkwood. Female ski instructor to kid on the chair. Monosnowboard.
  6. Your friend is very good. I can’t even image to ski blind. It is so nice you guide him.
  7. Very nice. But I would not be able to ride in that light at all. I got dizzy in some moments just watching video. Light is now limiting factor. Twice in January I did not even bother to get out of the car in resort. I am rather jealous of you guys..
  8. Benefits? you will not hear the snow under your board and even worse, you will not hear idiots around you till they hit you.
  9. Thanks for pictures and video. I like empty slopes but looking that overcast sky, I would have to sit in the pub all day. In these conditions I am absolutely missing any sense of depth and direction, everything is one white mess. But please more pictures and videos and have all of you great time. Ladia
  10. Without season pass it is pretty much insanity everywhere. 4-5 visits pay for the pass. That’s why I keep 3 different. A bunch of resorts don’t take cash. I was pretty much told I can wipe ass with my dollars. Rather strange, American currency in an American resorts, but don’t let me started.
  11. I just unlock both AT boots. (Scarpa or Dynafit). Usually ridding front locked, back boot unlocked. Spring systems are pretty much in set up position. I have DGSS on my Zero Degree boots. I think DGSS is better than BTS.
  12. UPZ steep ramp on front foot never felt right for me. Currently I am using AT boots or zero degree ski boots which are pretty much Raichle snowboard boots made for skiing. MS would be to risky to buy without check them up, which is pretty much impossible. I guess I am stuck what I have.
  13. Sounds good, I supposed to return back from Czech on 1/4. It is raining like crazy here. 45-50 years ago I was going to ski on Christmas Day, now they don’t know what snow looks like.
  14. Don’t be naive. They will not, telling you from my experience. More people actually asking do you really have vision problems or just wearing it to get more space around.
  15. I am wearing orange bib with big letters Visually impair and it does not matter a bit. I even think quite opposite. It just makes your target for idiots on slopes.
  16. Tell me about it. Last week at Nord Star was absolute nightmare. 3 open runs merged into one. Now you finally realize how many idiots are on the slopes. I am pretty much yelling “You fu….g As….e” all the time. But it is just sample of human population and most scary is, it is probably that better half.
  17. Boreal opens on Friday, the weather looked very nice so I decided to go on Saturday, but wether rather changed. I try first run between two lifts, just bunny slopes nothing else was open. And it was absolutely horrible. I found I have no depth vision what so ever, everything was one grey mess, I don’t know where is down up just nothing. After five falls I took board off and walk down. Sit in the car and drove 3 hours home. My vision has improved after 3rd eye surgeries, but it will never be anything close to normal. I will be able somehow to ride in perfect visibility only. Big disappointment but reality. On more positive note, my doctor will pleased with last cancer check up. Since my last update I went this year thru BDG treatment, pretty much treatment by diluted tuberculosis bacteria, 5th bladder surgery, chemo regime and currently I am on chemo once per month for one year. Next check up in February. So I would appreciate some sunny days on slope. Please cross your fingers and have a nice season.
  18. Hi Barry, thanks for weather report. It was pretty cold in Bay Area for several days, so I was wondering about mountains.Maybe Boreal next weekend?
  19. There is something wrong. I have been going to KW for last 30 years and I just don’t remember slopes empty like this. It had to be your lucky day.
  20. I got Epic and Ikon as usually. Also I bought senior Boreal season pass for $160. Don’t buy it. Not even 2 visits will pay for it. They usually open before anybody else. Now just to have some snow.
  21. Not like I needed another split board but don’t buy it for $70 and $10 shipping .
  22. It supposed to be last weekend at Mammoth, but they will be ope another week. It is rather questionable as below McCoy station are pretty much only white ribbons of death. Maybe just greedy? They charge $139 per day.
  23. As Mammoth is closing next weekend this reply still belongs to this topic 21-22 season. After several weeks to learn snowboarding all over again,I got idea got shorter and a bit wider board and try it still this season. I finished my chemo a couple weeks ago and went thru 3rd surgery on my eye last Thursday. So now I want try new toy Nidecker Spectre 157. The board is 22 cm wide. I am running shallower angles to help me with right” blind” side. It looks like decent all mountain board. I got regular one, they also makes carbon version. Going down chair 23 or just jump into Climax would be rather ambitious, but I am so anxious just hit the slopes one more times this season. Let see how the board will work. It looks nice.
  24. Mammoth is going to the end of the month. I was there previous weekend but everything was closed due to wind. Bummer considering it took over 6 hours to get there, but now they opened Sonora pass. I am not going this weekend as I have 3rd eye surgery on Thursday, but I want to make one more trip following weekend.they now open at 7:30.
