  1. I have 20 cm wide Contra 162 and 18 or 18.5 cm 160 Angry. I prefer Angry side cut but 20 cm width of Contra, I need run shallower angles due to my vision. That would be probably best combo for me. I wanted to give Contra another shot last weekend, but Mammoth was shut down due to wind. So it was just 12 hours driving trip.
  2. Yesterday at Kirkwood was extra. How long you have been ridding EURO Board? This was new one for me but guy was correct thinking about it now. I was on F2. Answer 30+ years girl lift op. Wow race board. I am on directional split board. Left without comment. do you wear that bib (Visibly impaired) because you don’t see or you want more space people give you? I have one eye working and people don’t give a shit with extra space.
  3. I rode it all day no problems, but days of narrow boards are definitely over for me, I need shallow binding angles to compensate my problems and anything under 20 cm waist is pretty off limits for me.
  4. It is hard. Over weekend I tried new F2s. It was snowing and flat light on Saturday. I did 2 runs on Proto Sl and switch to Vantage. I had very hard time to see pretty much anything. After second run condition were so bad I had to stop when I left Forrest and hit open slope. I just walk down. With one eye I am pretty much blind in these condition. On Sunday, there was some new snow and blue sky. I jump on Vantage. Simple constant radius side cut, easily turned board. And it showed all my problems. My toe side is weaker for last ten years when I got screws in front foot, but now when it is also my blind side it is really bad and I am struggling. It is not side cut or board, I just simply suck big time and when I am on more advanced board I suck more. Slopes I was dragging body on snow I can barely skid down. Later some moguls were made in fresh snow causing me another problem with depth of vision. I am pretty much stuck with perfect weather and groomed blue slopes. For rest of the season I plan use only two boards I have the least problems on. Virus Revolution Narrow and F2 Vantage. I want to try Jorg’s style to help me with vision on toe side. And I also have big mental block to commit toe side turn. I still hope but most likely my carving day are over. I am even thinking go to skiing. I can blend with hundreds of mediocre/ bad skiers on the slopes. So be ready there will be most likely big sale on horizon. I still have some top line boards. Just have fun, but be very careful there are so many crazy idiots on slopes it is just unreal.
  5. Very nice board. I had regular Interceptor wide. Great board. Enjoy.
  6. More New toys. I need to clean my mind and gets better mood , last Friday I had another already 5th bladder cancer surgery. I order these two boards from Ivan. Incredible and extremely fast service. Thank you very much. I got Vantage because it has simple single side cut radius and Proto based on current reviews. This board feels very stiff. I will see on the snow hopefully over weekend, but forecast does not look great.
  7. I did direct comparison between new Contra and older Angry, same conditions in one hour window. For me it is Angry all the way. I ordered Contra based on reviews here and so far it is not working for me. Of course I am considering my current condition I had 6 days during last 2 seasons. I am not giving up, maybe when I will be in better shape. I finally did Cornice and Sentinel bowl at Kirkwood last week. It was another small step for me.
  8. Well interesting. I felt similar as Geoff described. How are edges on new Contra set up? I don’t have a gauge to measure it. All my Virus boards were 3 and 1 degree.
  9. Very interesting and useful topic. As I am trying to get back on slopes and had enormous problems I was looking F2s smaller side cut radius. Does anybody know if their numbers are single radius or average compounded numbers some kind of curve? I think I would preferred just single radius. I spend about 3 days on new board but had a miserable time, but of course my condition also play role in it.
  10. I had both long time ago. I don’t think you can get them anymore. Pro were stiffer and you can change tongue. First year they had actually 3 models, later reduce to 2 and finally one. With each” new” model it meant different color I like them less and less. The best were those from first year translucent blue it was medium model and regular Stratos purple with orange tongues. Regular had I think cheaper buckles.
  11. Maybe your boards did not start to fall apart. And I did not even ask for replacement or fix.
  12. I had 162 Kessler, decent board but top P- tech was delaminating. Non existing customer support to send them e mail probably bother them too much just to answer. The worst of all manufacturers I dealt during last 30 years. No more for me for sure. I somehow always preferred board around 63 than 68. SCR is another story. Tomorrow I plan to give try to Contra, if definitely felt differently than rest of my boards.
  13. Congratulations to Frank. I was always wondered why those few great builder building boards for most of us were pretty much overlooked by top racing community, but answer was and still is pretty obvious. Anyway great success Frank.
  14. For my graphic ( the board is on previous page) Bruce recommended glossy top sheet, but for flaming pattern Carbonium should be fine. It is interesting top sheet for sure, but the graphic pattern can’t be to detailed.
  15. Barry, my chopper bill from Kirkwood was 83k. They charged 40k just to start the rotor. Lucky for me insurance paid it. I was done with my deductible for the rest of the year.
  16. Just notice, but please don’t take it like criticism, more like an advices when you are doing your graphic design. I did same mistake on my first design also. In my “artistic fever “ I put pictures so nicely they were later covered with bindings. I think this will happen a boarding giant. Too bad I like him even more than goofy moose. Anyway have a great MCC.
  17. I broke my heel bail many years ago. Pretty much it is metal fatigue any mystery there. The failure starting from the surface defect. You cut the threads in bail and you can expect some defect there. It will slowly starts to propagate, you will see very fine and uniform lamellar surface. When crack reach critical size the rest of the rod just breaks, due to stress. Do forget we are on snow, the water penetrates in to the crack and cause more damage. If you think stainless does not corrode you are mistaken. I had many years on my bail, if you want to be safe just periodically change bails.
  18. I just came from Tahoe. It is getting unbelievable. Gold Coast green slope. Fast recovery Barry, in the end you were pretty lucky and you are strong guy, just image smaller guy on your place. Just take a couple weeks off for healing. I got concussion about 25 years ago and next week any bump was like hit with hammer in head. And slopes were very icy this weekend. Colors? I am not sure about it, I were pink helmet right orange bib with handicap sign, 3 bright colors jacket, but for most people it does not mean anything. I am now so scared of people around me on the slopes. Merging trails , blu and green slopes and bottoms close to lifts are probably most danger places.
  19. Arne, I just hope for fast and decent recovery. Good luck and let us know about progress . I found moral support from this community is very helpful psychologically. Ladia
  20. At first, thanks to Bruce to build me this beauty in such a short time. Contra 162 somehow customized. I used graphic from my older Angry, changed it a little bit and this time I am very happy with correct placement. I can’t wait to try the board over weekend. I had again rather hard last for months, serious health problems and this board gives me new energy, now I am pretty much living in 6 weeks long periods. I just hope. So one more big thanks to Bruce.
  21. I had La Glisse. Great board for powder, I did Aspen Higland bowl on it and it is pretty steep. Why I sold it? After my injury my ability are limited, so hopefully the board will make new owner happy and he can use make some serious use of it. I had so many Virus board and never was disappointed. I still have 3. One brand new I tried it on one run last spring, but it was “big” board for my condition, but my vision has improved after 2 surgeries, so I will give it another shot. If you have money and you ride big mountains go for it. And by the way La Glisse was good even on groomers , some powder boards are not.
  22. I made first day on this board I recently bought. I did not expect too much considering price and description as beginners split. I must say I was pleasantly surprised. There was still some untracked snow. The board was pretty stable no tip vibration. I also had to consider I have not been riding for two years after my injury. Actually today was my two years anniversary to survive it. Also my vision causes me problems. But I was pretty happy off piste. But when I was really pleased , it was on steep groomers. You can carve on this board pretty hard and again no vibration and very stable. Actually I like it more than Jones ultracraft split. I need make comparisons in some really deeper and fresh snow. They had the same board also like regular board. If you want all terrain board and you can get it cheap as I did I would recommend. It was described as board for beginners as I mentioned early, I guess after 30 years on board I am still beginner, but I somehow don’t care. My problem on splits is front binding, I would like to set it up in bigger angle than any binding allows.

  24. I have those and like them. They are currently out of stock like most of the Sparks parts. I just got Sparks puck. Nice but you can’t set up angles over 35 degrees. Just for information. I am using them on back foot and front Voile pucks. Sparks puck coming only with 3 degree inward canting.
  25. The same here. Scarpa Maestrale or Dynafit Radical will work. I was using Dynafit ZZero4 for years till destruction. They were so light. Radicals are much heavier. And it is much easier and safer to walk or climb up in AT boots than classic HB soles boots.
