  1. I'll let you know as soon as Alexis starts next week.
  2. @Allee: FYI Alexis starts working at the UofC outdoor center in the new year for her final practicum, we may get insider info/deals/cool stuff. Let us know if you ever want to rent stuff.
  3. This was posted by a local shop owner, take it for what you will but he is a pretty wysiwyg kind of guy: Electricity 1 - Lou 0 Lou Sunday at Louise I think the temp at the mountain top was -8C but my feet thought it was -50 while my gloved not mittened hands thought it was 25. Now differences between my hands and feet are not unusual but this extreme was not typical and to be honest I'm usually freezing everywhere. There is a reason I wear a down sweater under my down jacket and that I'm about to purchase another down sweater and jacket. Usually due to some physiology I haven't learned about after going in to warm up everything stays warm for the remainder of the day, nearly. But not this time and I had to quit early due to my frozen feet whiile my hands continued to party in the equatorial climate of my gloves. Two times frozen feet and two times balmy hands means I think that Hestra's Electric Gloves work and just in time for the holidays.

    Alpine coaster

http://www.serlesbahnen.at/ If you look under the Sommer listing there is a map that shows the run at 640 vertical meters. I am looking into a trip next summer....
  5. Nothing. I'm taking this season off so next year I will have the desire. Too many things on the go right now and it's supposed to be extra cold this winter. I am sure you will all miss me, but with time and practice your aim will improve.
  6. I don't know what your budget is but I bought a carbon frame, Ultegra equipped bike last summer fro $2500 cad. It has Marvic aksium race wheels (low end Marvics if there is such a thing) and rides very nice. I found during my shopping that anything lighter than this setup was going to cost large dollars. The frame is a Helios, some MIC thing but I haven't had any troubles with it. I went in to the local shop and said this is how much I want to spend and he put it together for me. All the big name bikes in the same price point only had 105 or the SRAM equivalent and comparable wheels, so I think I did ok.
  7. I rode in to town for Voodoo donuts and didn't know why there were so damn many staggering drunks downtown. Now I know.....

    Who's first?

    http://www.asphaltandrubber.com/news/rotor-camera-system/#more-24002 Gopro and then some.
  9. Here is an interesting graphic that basicly reinforces that you get the shaft if you live in CA when it comes to internal combustion anything: http://www.asphaltandrubber.com/news/gas-prices-county-usa/#more-19592 All i can say is wah. I put gas in my truck yesterday @ $1.29/L. And that's real money to those of you south of the 49th. With todays exchange it's about $4.87 and climbing. I'm just glad I don't live in YVR, they must be selling their youngest to shoe companies by now.
  10. It wasn't in the lift line, but made me laugh: We we shopping for softies for my GF and she tried a pair on. The kid who was doing a poor job of selling said " These have this B-O-A thing to do them up. I don't what that means but they are easy to do up." I said " Boa, like a constrictor, is my guess." "Oh. Huh?" "Nevermind." This was at the shop with a great big sign on the wall (2'x3') "Googles-20% off!" It was awful nice of them to be offering a search engine at a discount....
  11. I spend lots of mornings putting sizeable ruts on the run they use for racing at the hill here. I can't tell you how many dirty looks I get when they come to set up the race courses, but no one has ever ( or will ever is my guess) said anything. I guess they know the truth of the matter.
  12. I question this. If you have the same pressure (rider) on a larger surface area, wouldn't you have less pressure per square (insert metric/imperial unit)? I would agree that you have more surface area on the snow, but if you have less pressure per square unit, I would think you would have less edge hold and more tendency to slip the edge. No?
  13. Here is the latest I have seen: http://www.ctv.ca/CTVNews/TopStories/20110207/sled-dogs-killed-not-olympics-related-110207/ Take from it what you will.
  14. The info I was recently presented with, as Jack stated, was make sure you keep your torso rotated. The suggestion I was given (I took it and it works) is to bring your down hill hand around so it is over your front knee. This will help turn your hips and shoulders, I also find it helps me if I make and exaggerated head turn to look where I want to go. This also helps to bring my shoulders around.
  15. I was there solo, but there was some other guy on a burton. I don't know who he was, I've never seen him before.
  16. Thanks for the props Allee, but you were killing it. There were a couple of guys that showed up late, I think it was waypastfast and Freddy, ripping the s#*! out of this one! It was good snow, good sun and a few runs with some great company. This is the kind of day I will be sighing about come July.
  17. You probably got it cheap because the bindings are on backwards. Still, nice board.
  18. Alas I had to leave, but thanks to everyone for the great chair stories and the tips and pointers. I had a great time even if the snow and weather were being pouty. I just might have to head back to Methtana again before the end of the season. I hope everyone enjoys the rest of the week and (mostly) says out of trouble.
  19. Corey, don't forget the ziploc for your phone.... and I always bring bacon with me. Oh, don't forget extra camera memory, especially if you can't dump your pictures every day. I have a bad case of bring two of everything. So I do. It would suck to miss time on the snow but for a something you left at home.
  20. Maybe we should start a G.N.A.R thread. I'm just saying. Besides, I'm so going to rip the $#!T out of this.....
  21. Sidecut is about 10.5m ( I forget exactly) and there are pictures here: http://www.bomberonline.com/vbulletin/showthread.php?p=271399#post271399 It's the one with black and white circles. Feel free to e-mail me if you have any other questions.
  22. I will have this at WTF, if you are interested PM me.
