  1. I was there friday until the race brats came back from lunch. Freddie was there on his kessler and I was a two planner wanker for the day. The conditions were garbage but with all the blowing they are now doing there should be reasonable coverage next weekend on more trails. There were way too many people on one run with bad snow to make it worth staying.
  2. If you have your confirmation email you can get the pass at either the 17th Ave office or the guest services at the hill. If you have a previous pass with the reloadable logo, you should be able to reactivate it online, I believe the email had a link. It's mostly about signing the waiver. If the office isn't busy it should take less than five minutes.
  3. The firearm industry uses low torque wrenches for scope installation, among other things. Here is an example that I neither use nor endorse: https://www.brownells.com/gunsmith-tools-supplies/general-gunsmith-tools/wrenches/general-wrenches/magna-tip-adjustable-torque-wrench-prod84011.aspx I sure if you use your goole feature you could find plenty of options.
  4. Looks cool, but not as cool as this:https://canadamotoguide.com/1998/01/03/cmg-takes-scooter-numb-bum-part-1/
  5. Everything east of the gold chair looks like it has a bunch of snow, but there is no coverage under the soft stuff. Except rocks, there are lots of those.
  6. I was there today and spoke with guest services about the Gold chair. They said it will be down for an additional week or two, so take that for what you will. My guess is at least two weeks. I doesn't matter anyway, the snow is absolute garbage. Death cookies everywhere, it was like riding on gravel. They said they hope to have the entire bottom half of the mountain open next week for all the little parasites, but they might as well have mowers out on North Axe.
  7. If you decide to do some alterations, I have had quality repairs at Rainy Pass Repairs in Seattle. Great work and super cheap in my opinion.
  8. I have been to Zermatt twice and plan to return in the next couple of years. It's about 3.5 hours from Zug, but it has tons of carveable terrain, reasonable pricing and never seemed busy in peak season. Lot of varied terrain and good snow after january. Not sure how it compares to the rest of CH, but I had a great time and would recommend it is worth a look.
  9. Edit: Ticket is gone, thanks for playing.
  10. The frontside was garbage by about 11:30, I stuck around on the back until about 2. I would almost say that opening day was as good or better out back and that certainly isn't saying much. On the plus side, it seemed like there wasn't much of a crowd. I bet it would have been a whole lot worse if there was. On another note, I think they were changing the sign to Brownfish, MT.......
  11. It's supposed to be -19 tomorrow and then +8 on Wednesday, don't forget to pack your skates boys.......
  12. I was out today, the snow is horrid. They were grooming Ralley alley, it might be open tomorrow but Upper North Axe is still piled up and in need of some work. Legacy also looks like a MTB trail with trees everywhere but they did have one gun going. The last few days have dropped small amounts of snow, but just enough to make dust on crust. You best bring your skates for Mighty Peace as it is a solid slab of ice. I didn't hit the upper mountain as the racer kids were up there and there is dirt showing everywhere else and besides, I was trying some new twin skwals. Yeah, that's what I'll call them.
  13. The event is posted: Friday, January 16, 2015 : Nakiska Expression Session 2015 Every January a group of Canadian snowboard carvers get together and congregate at a Nakiska, ski hill in Kananaskis Country, Alberta. This hill is where the 1988 Olympic Alpine events took place. The Naksiska Expression Session (NES) is in it's 8th year and sees riders from all over western Canada attend. Steve (Riceball) Recsky coordinates the event, takes photos and opens his home to everyone on Saturday night for picture/video viewing, pizza and beer. If you are interested in attending this hard-booter event, you can contact Riceball via the Bomberonline Forum or just show up and ride! This event is organized independently of Nakiska and RCR. For more information please contact Steve Recsky at 403-389-6462 or steve.recsky@first4db.com http://www.skinakiska.com/things-to-do/eventsDetail.aspx?e=3578
  14. I usually will unbuckle for the first couple of rides, but then they stay done up for the rest of the day as my feet don't hurt anymore once the numbness sets in. I moved to a pair of ski boots this year and after hours of fitting I am having the same discomfort issues in the toe box, but my heel is way more solid now. I may never go back to step ins, sigh…..
  15. Ok, not really. For those of you that had to work today, you missed an unbeatable powder day at Nakiska. There was an honest foot of powder everywhere and knee deep in a bunch of places. I think there was only about 17 people at the hill, including lifties. It was an epic way to end my season.
  16. Great, straight liners with more speed. My guess is they saw this:http://www.thermabladehockey.com
  17. I tried this a couple of years back when the national B team (I think) was at COP. I had to buy a membership and pay entrance for two runs, I think it ended up at about $100. There was no interest in welcoming me to "racing", no one talked to me and I had to chase down Freddy to get some idea of what was going on. Too bad for them, I would have been happy to volunteer for future stuff like set up, tear down etc, but I guess they are only interested in kids with rich parents that they can suck money out of. Then Mark Ballard friended me on Linkedin, WTF?
  18. I built a top load bag out of fleece lined nylon. It has been in roof racks a few times and shown no worse for the trips. It's fairly tight and has velcro tabs to snug it up once the board is loaded. I think it cost me about $20 to make and if you are interested, I am pretty sure I have a pattern around here somewhere. Message me and I can try and find it if you are interested.
  19. Not sure if I will make it to N.I.C.E., but I'll be there for christmas. Let's hope I don't repeat my last day on the snow any time soon.
  20. I haven't had anything shipped to me from these guys, but I have used them for picking stuff up: http://www.montanashipping.com/ I also have an account (free) with these guys and they just added a location at the East Glacier gate area, but I haven't used them yet: https://www.kinek.com/find-a-kinekpoint-result?borderProvinceId=57
  21. 1976 AMC Gremlin with a 232 inline 6. Surprisingly fast for what it was. Would do just over 125 mph and I drove it for about 6000 miles with no water pump. This also meant no heater, and all of you who have been to NES will appreciate what that must have been like.
  22. Is it just me having not paid that much attention in the past, or has this season been especially heavy on big injuries? I'm still sitting at home with a healing collarbone and cursing that I can't even get out on the bike because I can't afford to rush this and damage the bone any further. I feel for everyone that is in a similar situation and it looks like a number of you had it worse than I did. I wanted them to plate mine, but when I went for a second opinion the doctor said it wasn't in the parameters that they would operate on. He said they would do surgery if it was 20mm short or shifted and when I saw him it was 18mm. I almost punched him when he said " If you would have come and seen me first I probably would have plated it then, but not now." Great. So here I sit, bored with Netflix, (it has way fewer good movies up her in the land of Igloos and back bacon) bored with PS3 and frustrated that, while mostly mobile, I still have 4-6 weeks before I can get back to work. I wish good health to everyone who is mending and good luck to everyone still riding, lets all have an eventless summer and hit it hard next season.
  23. The doctor said she saw at least five pieces, but it's still way too many. She didn't want to open me up as there is a bunch of little pieces that she feared would fall out. I have to go see her in a couple of weeks to see where it is at. I'm almost 1.5 inches shorter from the centerline on that side and I have a huge lump in the center of the normal collarbone location . I am going to push for a plate, I can't wear a harness at work like this as it would sit right on top of that lump, and I can't work without a harness. I just finished a job a couple of days before I did this and it looks like I won't be able to work for two or three months, so it will be a while until I can get back to work. The suckiest part is I can't even play PS3 yet, thank god for netfix. I also hope it won't eat too much of the bike season on me, there are too many cool trips pending. Thanks to everyone for the thoughts, I appreciate the kind words.
  24. Stuffed it at Louise last week, demolished my L collarbone. I had decided to take the year off and this is what I get for not listening to myself.
  25. If there is a day in Banff, I have a park pass that can be borrowed, e-mail me if you want it.
