  1. What a huge differance that made cutting a bit of plastic out. I was able to wear my boots for a hour strapped down to what I would ride at, were before I'd only have them on the first notch. When I did get some numbness, all I had to do was walk around and the feeling came back. We're Definately on the right track. I'm going to trim just a little more and then get the toe box opened just a little. Thanks a lot for that tip Beckmann AG, that was huge
  2. That's actually a good idea I think. Guess ill just do a little at a time. I have noticed that when I wear just my liners, it takes about 45 minutes and my toes will start to go numb. So that plastic could be the very cause. And if it matters, I never have my toes go numb other than in ski boots. I just about always wear hiking boots that are tied tight with never a problem.
  3. Well I just have stock liners. I hope I don't need new liners since I need to get a few other boots worked on to. 3 liners would be like 1000 dollars. And for that, I'd consider no longer hard booting, or skiing. Just soft boot riding. Im heading to the shop today, so I will see what the boot fitter says.
  4. so my boots still make my toes go numb, so im going to get them adjusted, but i need help trying to clearify my problem. heres my set up head stratos pro 29.5 super thin silk socks i can only wear my boots for about 30 minutes before my toes, and only my toes start to go numb, after 45 minutes, there completely numb. and the numbness is no where else. i have had my boots origionaly sized correctly, so their not to small, or to big. i have tried foot beds with raised arches but they did not help it at all, or make it worse. i have taken a picture of my feet after riding, and i believe my toes are going numb because my boots are pinching a vein on the top of my foot. the top of my foot is red, the heal, and the outside part of my foot is red. so i suppose it could be any of those locations pinching a vein, but the top of my foot i can clearly see a vein that heads directly to my toes, so thats where im putting the blame. plus if i tie my golf shoes to tight, the tongue goes over that same vein, and it can actually cause just my toes to start to go numb. and unstrapping the buckles on the lift only slows down the process. So my question is, is it possible to stretch a boot so i dont have the pressure on top of my foot, but still not get heel lift in the boot? also, to imagine were the vein is on my foot, put a pair of sandals on, and where the strap goes over your foot is about where the vien is.
  5. its been over a month and a half since i hucked a cliff, buried the nose of my board and took a quick tumble and took one in the rear from a not so soft rock and i can still only sit normal for 10 minutes..im pretty sure i broke my coccyx(tailbone) but theres nothing a doc can do..the bruise covered both cheeks and it was definitely a conversation piece.i waited a month before i rode again, but thats all i could wait since we are finally getting snow, but man, every time i slip out heel side..o my f-ing god...i have to lay there for at least 5-10 minutes almost about to cry..and whats funny, i did the cliff two times before, but apparently 3rd times the charm..but it could have been prevented easily..first, i should have done a better job looking at the landing area, and the when i do fall and tumble down the mountain where do i go area? and of course, dont go off cliffs when were only 16% snow fall. so who else has gotten hurt this year?
  6. id like to call myself a regular carver there..im there at least twice a week on my alpine board..id say i see another carver probably every other week..usually a different person to..to compare heavenly to kirkwood for carving, id say kirkwood is more technical, in the aspects that theres more blind drop offs(not cliffs, you just cant see the downhill side) and its less predictable..heavenly, you can see typically most the way down the mountain.and the big reason i go to kirkwood for carving is they groom the runs EVERY day..even if its dumping snow..heavenly..not so much.so heavenly can build moguls much quicker than kirkwood.plus kirkwood gets more, and better snow!
  7. i also always get a kick out of it when a skier says what were doing is cool..just last week when i saw a group of skiers sitting on the edge of the trail i did my best toe side carve close to them followed by a kinda decent heel side and when i met them in the lift line they told me they like how i was 'rippin a snowboard' and we proceeded to bs on the chair lift, tossed them a bomberonline card, and said have a nice day! also, is everyone else guilty of enjoying when you come up to the lodge, do a hockey stop and enjoy seeing people stare at you like wtf is this guy riding?? cause i know i do!
  8. it did it with the original foot bed as well...the built up arch seemed like it actually helped..i guess i could be buckling to tight..another weird thing, some times i can go two hours and no numbness, then some times i can only go 45 minutes..and i know my buckles are not rotating to loosesn/tighten, and i always put them in the same position.im almost wondering if its a dehydration thing..guess ill just have to keep playing around with my boots
  9. set-up: Head stratos pro Mondo 29.5 foot bed,or insert(i forget the correct term) that the local boot fitter built up the arch because i have flat feet no work done to the boots So heres my problem, after about 5 runs my toes begin to go numb..starts with my big toe, and slowly progresses to my other toes..but i have never had my foot go numb...just my toes.i do have ultra thin socks(you can practically see through them). i try to keep moving my toes on the chair lift, and i also unbuckle my bottom 3 straps to allow more room.no matter what i do, my toes go numb and i have to stop riding.and whats kind of strange, once i unbuckle all the straps, my toes come back in about 10 minutes.so it almost seems like the blood is getting cut off to my toes a little higher on the the boot..also, when i measured my foot, as recommended by the article on bomber, i should be in a 29. but i went up in size to a 29.5.the boots should be some what broken in, since they have over 15 days on them, with probably a average of 10 runs each day.i did have the liners heated to mold to my feet..its starting to get really frustrating since i really enjoy carving, but hate numb toes so any help would be appreciated..
  10. honestly, im not to familiar with glue, i have been using the same glue that i would patch up my surfboards with when i bounced off a rock, and now i use it on my snowboards and havent had any problems..i know theres no foam in snowboards, so you dont need a foam safe glue, so i would assume any thick glue will work..heck im even guilty of using quick dry gorilla glue on my snowboard..the thicker glue is just easier to work with since it doesnt run..
  11. id personally get some thick 2 part, foam safe glue and fill it up, then sand it when its dry to make it smooth...also, when you put glue in it, you can clamp it down to make a better seal
  12. also, when i 'lock in a carve', what foot should i have the most pressure on? i have noticed, when i lean more forward during the whole carve, the carve feels more solid, but when i lean more towards the tail, the board does more drawn out turns, which makes senses in terms of board flex. so answering my own question, i guess it determines how fast im going correct? slower, more forward, faster more towards the tail?
  13. and why is it almost impossible to not try to touch the snow toeside?? im probably like everyone else, i just love that feeling of my palms skimming across the snow...ill blame it on years of surfing and dragging my hands on a wave...whats your excuse?! ha
  14. so bend zee knees, which i assume will help make me get into the C shape, and making me more squared to the board, and the 'hands behind the back drill', i will have to try..id say show me a article, but hands behind my back is pretty self explanatory, but what exactly will that help with? and my stance width is 20.5"..i do think that may be a little short considering my size, but like i said,im 3degree heel lift on both front, and rear foot. also, i am trying to lean towards the nose of the board to start the carve, and slightly roll towards the tail of my board as im carving to put the pressure more towards the rear of the board than the nose.is this correct? also, that run was basically the beginner slope..its very short...there is a longer run, but its steeper and i tend to carry alot of speed down it, and i find it more beneficial to go slower, and really work my edges and think about my technique, than go bombing down a hill..if there was more snow, id have alot more options, and better runs to really work with.plus with not much snow, the runs im on are not very wide at all.the run in the video id say is no more than 45 yards wide..basically, i can never get perpendicular with the fall line..chances are its my technique, but the other side of me likes to say my board likes to go fast to 'feel right'.but hey i feel just as strange on this board as the guy watching me ride it wondering why i have ski boots on a snowboard ;)
  15. so heres a little video of me riding, which i hope the link works since its my first time ever uploading a video to you tube...id appreciate any advice anyone has to offer. from watching it, i can say the few things i think im doing wrong are, my right hand is not reaching into my heel side turn, instead its just doing its own thing,my left hand doesnt reach into my toeside turns, and im not making the C shape with my upper body. plus im not opening my shoulders up to be more squared with the nose of the board. i am doing my best to not 'pat the dog' on my toe side though. if it helps, heres my set up.. Rider:6'5",230lbs mondo 29.5 head stratos pro boot Front binding angle:58 Rear binding angle:55 front/rear foot heel lift at 3degree cant Donek g-force blade 180cm,24.5cm width,14 side cut,M flex edges ground to 88 degrees td3 std, with blue e rings
