  1. Have I been jinxed now? I sure hope not.... I don't go as fast as Billy or Dave, so I'm safe.... ;) P.S. Heal well Billy.
  2. Just look for something in the southern end of the Salt Lake Valley. Looks like this Days Inn is available, and it would be a straight shot up the canyon to Brighton. Days Inn Midvale Keep in mind I spend about 2 minutes looking for this, there are plenty more properties in the southern end of the valley if you spend some time looking. Again, it's the end of the Sundance Film festival, so things could be tight, especially in Park City.
  3. Heh, ya, I remember you and Kenneth were puckering a little when we did Jupiter. Following Billy and / or Phil around PC on a powder day will make pretty much anyone pucker. And the trail at The Canyons IS Canis Lupis. Fun stuff. Ya just gotta let it loose at the bottom, and hope there are no gapers side-slipping, cause you'll t-bone them good...
  4. I just rode with Marty (Frankland) this morning..... I didn't know he was looking to connect with Martin (Drayton). I was talking with Martin (Drayton) as I walked up to Marty (Frankland). Martin (Drayton) was on his way to work, so I said c-ya to Martin (Drayton) and headed over to talk with Marty (Frankland). If I had known Marty (Frankland) was looking to hook up with Martin (Drayton) I would have introduced them to each other... Oh well. How's that for a mouth-full?
  5. At Park City? That would have been Jupiter Bowl. Or are you talking about Canis Lupis at The Canyons? (I didn't make it that day, but I'm sure Billy showed you some dope stuff.) Neither of those get groomed too often...
  6. Did you try here: Instructor Search Any yes Martin is still at Park City, and is an excellent instructor, world champion slalom skateboarder, and all-around cool dude.
  7. 25-30 days per season, most of those on softies, teaching.
  8. OK, here's my recommendation for The Canyons: Get as far away from the Saddleback chair, and the Red Pine Lodge as possible. Good carving runs (When groomed): Super Condor chair: Apex Ridge, Upper and Lower Boa. Aplande and Kestrel are also two "Double" blues that can be more challenging when groomed. For a taste of what Apex Ridge can be like with good conditions click these links: Apex Ridge Apex Ridge Again Golden Eagle chair: (It's a SLOW, OLD double chair, but if it is not crowded with people trying to get up the mountain, there will be no-one there early in the morning.) Doc's Run - early morning only, in the afternoon, it will be packed with gapers trying to get off of the mountain. Lookout Ridge. Arrowhead can be fun also, but get's tight at the bottom. Tombstone Chair: Another World, and Could 9. These can be crowded at times. Peak 5, Day Break, Dreamscape and Dream Catcher chairs: There are tons of blue runs off of all of these chairs, but they are more narrow, and a lot of them can have flatter portions on them. Check the grooming report and map, and have fun. The good thing about all of these chairs is that there will be less traffic on them. Hopefully someone else more familiar with Park City will chime in, but here's my $.03 for PC: Anything off of the north side of the King Con chair: Sitka and Shamus are my favorites. Silverlode: Prospetor (Double Blud). Assessment is also fun. Payday: Payday, Blanche (I believe the Nastar couse is on Blanchd) and Heckler are my favories. Again, there are probably many other good ones at PC, I have mentioned the ones I am most familiar with.....
  9. They have done a lot of fitting for Billy and the hardbooter.com crew, so they should be able to mold them for you. See this article: Surefoot treats us to a year of foam and possibly contact Billy or Dave over there as to who to talk to at Surefoot.... There are Surefoot locations at PCMR, and at The Canyons in Park City, and also at Sun Valley, but the guys at the PCMR store more than likely have the most experience with snowboard specific hardboots. There is also a snowboarder that works at The Canyons location whom I know, if you'd like me to get you in touch with him, send me a PM. (Again - he probably doesn't have as much snowboard hardboot experience as the PCMR guys.)
  10. You can make fun of the jacket all you want.... (I won't bring up your BEAVER Mtn. hoodie. ;) ) And yes, Still at The Canyons. Spent all last week teaching in softies ( ) Of course conditions are still kinda crappy, so I didn't really want to trash the carving boards anyway.....
  11. Oh common Mark! Get it right. Not an 80's BURTON add, a 90's QUICKSILVER add dammit. The Quicksilver Day-Glo shall never be retired until it disintegrates.....
  12. Those were called power plates. Both cant and lift built in. The ammount varied based on the angle you ran the plate, and what angle you ran the binding on top of the plate. (I sold all of mine on ebay in the last couple of years...) The variplates had the opion of cant built in. If i remember correctly you could also run the back binding flat. (I'll have to look, I've got this board sitting in my garage, with variplates, and the original heel lift - which was plastic, not the power plate this guy has on this board.) Oh, and ya the price is high. The M6's are almost a dime-a-dozen......
  13. Take a peek at this thread: Park City Info
  14. My apologies everyone for bringing up Davo's speed suit. Ya gotta admit though, he's got some CAJONES for posting that photo.
  15. You'll trade me MY 177 for that 196? I guess I better start biddin' if I want it back..... And the jacket stays.... It's a little less distracting than your speed suit last year.... BTW, who got pictures of that, and why have we not seen them? (Just a small thread hi-jack goin' on here eh?)
  16. I don't think anyone actually rode it. We always joke about taking runs on "Retro" gear, so I usually drag the M6 along for the ride. It's kinda hard to strap on the old '90's gear when you have tents full of new gear to ride. I do however usually ride in the old day-glow Quicksliver jacket for at least a day. It doesn't affect my riding too much..... :o Oh, and that is Mark wearing the BEAVER (mtn.) shirt.
  17. As far as I know, The Canyons lodging is just like the rest of Park City during the film festival - scarce and expensive. Like Tille says, book early. If you stay in SLC, I'm sure there will be a few people who live in the valley driving to the WTC resorts, so transportation shouldn't be an issue. The good thing about having the WTC during the film fest is that the slopes are usually basically EMPTY during the festival. Sure you'll see a "Star" in their Bogner 1-piece that they user for 1 day and donate to charity, along with their entourage here and there, but they're easy to run down..... (Holy crap, how's that for a run-on sentance?)
  18. "Comrade's dad" I second Jareds post.. Get ahold of Dave at hardbooter and "ride before you buy". Or borrow Jared's.... Either way.
  19. That's OK Mark.... I ended up with a 192, and I've got NO compaints. (Although I WILL have to add a 200 to the quiver at some point....)
  20. Don't miss the "sweet jumps" link on the bottom left of the page..... Those guys have WAY too much time on their hands. Don't miss the Couch Bike Or the Hula Bike
  21. Even though one of them might have won it, I was still gonna root for the Americans..... Go Landis! Go Leipheimer! Go Hincapie!
  22. It's been done... There's a guy in Utah who has a couple of Factory Primes, mounted up like skis for powder... (Don't know if he used ski bindings or not). Don't you wanna SINK just a little in the powder - not just skim on the top two inches? I also know someone who mounted up a couple of alpine sticks for a pond-skimming contest. Unfortunately, he ate crap before he made it to the pond, so he never found out how they performed as "skimmers". He did say they were pretty fun to just ski on... Here's what he did this year: Yes, he won.....
  23. I tried mounting the wheels from a Stik to a Carveboard, and it could work with some modifications to the truck, or you could definitely use side-set skateboard wheels with no modifications. You probably wouldn't want to mount a Carveboard with the smaller urethane wheels though - as mentioned in the earlier post where we discussed this, there isn't enough clearance for the rails of the board to clear the ground when turning. I just mounted up one truck, and left the other with the rubber tires, and I could hit the ground with the rail of the board by stepping on one edge of the board while it was stationary. I guess if you really wanted to mount skate / urethane wheels, you could rig up some risers to get the height needed so as to not burry the rails of the board in the pavement on each carve / turn. You also need the "Stik" axles, as the spacing on the regular Carveboard hubs is a little wider than the stik wheels, and of course if the carveboards use different bearings than normal skate wheels also (if attempting do do it with normal skateboard wheels, not "dakones")...
  24. (Edited)So if I understand you correctly you're talking about the "Long Stik" which is going to ride a lot like the "Surf Stik", or "Twin Stik", only with a slightly larger turning radius. If there are any Carveboard dealers in your area, they may have demos that you can try out. As you can tell, I'm a fan of the Carve products. I haven't found another "Traditional" style longboard / skateboard that gives you that deep carving feeling. The closest thing was the Nuclear Pickle - Oh, and the Tierney, but we've already ruled that out.....
