  1. I think I might have to get these.....when you say three degrees is that both the front and back? I had some problems with screw height and getting the base to tighten up on the elastomer on my set when I ran the cant. Any issues there that you know of?
  2. Hey Dred...hope we get to make some turns this winter. Thin cover in SV but still some amazing trenching at times.
  3. Probably similar to some of the others but here are mine. The Mousetrap - think of the spring of said trap. I usually use this in reference to the toeside edge catch. The Superman - toeside edge catch with arms extended and "look I can fly" always followed by a hard landing. And occasionally followed by The Scorpion. The 911 takedown - can be toeside or heelside, characterized by it's brutality and likelihood of needing medical care. Folding the nose - illustrated by JJA with the addition of the flip and twist from the speed. There are lighter versions like the Nose to Nose. Fold nose of board to sliding nose of face across snow. Usually from getting too low and too forward too soon. Shot off the tail - usually caused by fatigue or tremendous speed or both. You get compressed over the tail in a heel side turn until you run out of strength or compression, upper body passed over board causing extreme flexing and resulting launch upon rebound. Upon perfect execution of this fall a skier friend remarked to me "I didn't know you could catch that much air off a totally flat run...". Well I did.
  4. Yes they are. It was right around the time Forums went down so he couldn't update. I am going to try them soon. If they don't work great I may relist at the same price.
  5. I knew something good would happen today if I went snowboarding. Thx Fin.
  6. Used a leash for years and when I really needed one ( double eject from testing a new boot ) it ripped apart. When I switched to SI in both the TD2 or TD3 the leash becomes nothing but a nuisance. Until the heel pins are completely pushed in it is impossible for the board to leave me without ripping apart the boot. If I have enough force of crash for that to happen a leash ain't gonna help my situation and I will much worse things to consider than a runaway board.
  7. CBs run. I went down there in January of 2001 to run a GS that ended up with some pretty big names showing up due to the Olympics the next year. Ross R. was there and some other team members. God I sucked in that race. Pretty sure Ross almost blew out of the course on one run. He ran two gates switch and still had a faster time. I was almost forty at the time though....so that is my excuse. But it would seem like not all was lost nine months later my first daughter was born. Quite a road trip. My wife and I skied Sun Valley and then drove to my parents house. Skied fresh pow at Pomerelle the next day and drove to SLC after skiing. Did a day at Snowbasin, then race day at Park City and then another day at Snowbasin and then home. Awesome. I didn't get to freecarve much at Park City. I really love some of the runs at Snowbasin for carving. The mens and women's downhill courses, Wildcat Bowl maybe and some of the undulating terrain off of the two Gondolas ( not as steep but ego building....). Not sure if you can take a day there but my kids last winter at the same age loved it there.
  8. Would love to show you Sun Valley a bit if you make it over to Idaho. I am also trying to float a carving type of event with the powers that be here but not quite sure how to make it happen yet.
  9. That is gawdamn hilarious. Thx for the laugh Jack.
  10. Late to the party. Welcome to the clubhouse. Others can disagree but I am putting a huge plus one in for the Fintec heels and TD3 SI. Wise choice grasshopper. I have used and broken many pairs of bindings over the years and after two years on these I have sold all my regular bindings. After accidental releases from all those different types of bindings I was able to borrow a pair to see how they work. Thanks Bryan. You need to be patient enough to micro adjust the bindings but once I did and understood how the cams in the heel work I don't think I could release without actually ripping the boot apart or the heel off. That peace of mind is worth a lot to me. But I am also 6 foot 245 lbs and ride hard. I don't know about those boots but fit is everything. The heels can move to another pair if they don't work for you but $229 for new (?) boots is a deal. I don't about the board either but you can learn basic carving on anything. Good luck.
  11. It's been a while since I have been to the other resorts but I love Snowbasin. There is some great lower angle carving in Strawberry area as well as back closer to the base. Want to ramp up the Gs and I will go to some of the upper runs or hit the downhill courses - mens and womens. I don't remember too many names . There were great turns to be had all around. Of course the problem is .... it still snows quite a bit there. So I make sure to have a powder board or all mountain in the quiver.
  12. I actually couldn't read the whole thing. Maybe says more about my ADD than Carol's writing. Too metaphorical or allegorical or one of those other big words. Squirrel!!!!! I raced a little USSA for a few years. Had a ball. And i used my license to run a few skier downhills which was even more awesome. Overall the politics of snowboarding have sucked all the life out of the sport. As sport. All the way through. From the manufacturers early advertising flaunting the rebel side of being anti-authority, the magazines only being interested in the most tweaked and freaked, to the competition side being so obtuse and ridiculous. I ride to carve. I don't care if it's popular or who is zooming who. The less organized the better. Anarchy is the path of the future. Want to see a real halfpipe. Combine it with bordercross and have six people drop in at once. Racing is so far gone I almost don't even care anymore.
  13. Been too busy slaying the pow to get much hardbooting in. But today was epic. I'm finally getting strong enough to carve entire runs and it has been incredible. I thought last Friday was as good as it gets but today might have been better. And I ran into two other carvers and we tore it up for a few runs. Of course its supposed to snow and get warm but the cold smoke was rolling today.
  14. I don't lay on the snow. I get compressed down into the turn until suddenly the snow is in my armpit begging to rip off my arm. Now it's my knee and leg and armpit on the other side. Dammit. Why does this keep happening? Funny because other than leading with a hand sometimes I am not actively seeking to lay it out, but when you turn hard enough suddenly it is. And I keep wearing out clothes too. I should get some baggy pants and some duck stance and stop all this crazy body flopping crap.
  15. What is it with all you guys and this hydration BS? I get a glass or two midway thru the morning and its all good. Are you sure you don't have some unfulfilled oral fixation? NTTIAWWT......
  16. Very sorry to hear that. I live in Idaho and we are having one heck of a year. The carving on Saturday was bluebird, cold and epic. Not to run it in but maybe a trip to the west? Not only that, if you get here I will host you. We do couchsurfing.org anyway so it's not a big deal. It's all time right now and will be until the end of April or May.
  17. Sold pending arrangement with Corey. Thx.
  18. Can you PM me your guess on shipping to Idaho (83340) and what your price on it is now?
  19. How heavy are you? I am not looking for softer. Well north of 180 though.
  20. Innarested for sure. I think I have the weight to bend it. A little.
