  1. Short version: To make riding in hardboots more comfortable and natural at a stance wide enough to improve mobility, stability, power, and range of motion. What's a "wide enough" stance? Approximately as wide as the measurement from the floor to the middle of your kneecap while standing in bare feet. Fiddle from there. 2. Awesome, I'll take them. I believe I can "just" cut the upper tab off to make them hinge.
  3. I'm with Marvin. That much toe lift should not be necessary. You want your knee in front of your ankle, especially at the beginning of the turn.

I feel like you’re asking for permission to quit...?
  6. Cody wins Davos Europa Cup SL!!
  7. Yeah I don't understand that. Then again I am not in my 20s and it is not my job to work out 6 days a week. I got a pair of Salomon 130 ski boots a few years ago, thinking I could board in the morning and ski in the afternoon after conditions are shagged. No dice. I couldn't even snowboard in them, nevermind carve. I contemplated walking down the hill!
  8. @nevingalmarinibending his board and plate... https://www.instagram.com/p/CI8_IF8sg2q/?igshid=4mzsc2edl5fw
  9. Intuition Power Wrap is not enough? Take them out of the shells and this is not an issue. My .951s are noticeably the lightest hardboots I've had. They're heavier than my Driver X's, but it doesn't seem to be a problem. 1/2 of softboots? That would probably be a $3000 carbon fiber affair. If you had ever tried Mountain Slope (or Northwave) or UPZ you wouldn't say this at all. Your Deeluxe T700s are notorious for poor heel retention. They work for some people, but it seems to be the minority. Now you're just whining. Walking performance is a criteria? Again, Mountain Slope, UPZ. And Deeluxe with BTS. Zipfit to the rescue. You can't have everything. This sport costs money. If you divide the cost of new liners by the number of days you get out of them, they are already pretty darn cheap. I simply do not see how you can say this at all. Molded liners, custom footbeds, the fit is incredible. I get more performance out of my .951 WC's than ever, and I don't even unbuckle them for lunch. Your list of hardboots owned is ancient. I don't think you know what you're talking about here.
  10. Quantity. If I get 50 days a year, they will include your 10 awesome days and then some. I'll be better prepared for those 10 days when they happen. Even on mediocre days there are good runs or even just good turns to be had. There are relatively few days on the mountain when I wish I had done something else. Some days I will look up at the mountain in the morning, see some unappealing weather and think, ugh, well, let's see what happens, and then I have a great day. Like yesterday - sore today!!

Disappointing, but not surprising for his generation I guess. I'll let it slide Too bad he couldn't see the light, like Jean Claude Killy: "In powder snow and off-piste, no piece of equipment can come down the mountain faster than a board. When someone invents a faster, better way to go down the hill, it is to be respected. It was ridiculous for skiing to fight snowboarding. It saved the ski business, including resorts and manufacturers."

I too tried to emulate my dad, who was emulating Stein. Quit skiing for snowboarding at age 13, when I was using 185cm Rossis. Stein used a opposite shoulder/hip technique at times... seems like he was trying to get sideways... I think he really wanted to be snowboarding!

  14. @xy9ine that picture is legendary!! I tried putting my ski boots (Salomon SX51) in my Burton “Darth Vader” softboot bindings once because I had forgotten my softboots at home. Hated it. Swore never to become a hardbooter.
  15. Buy with confidence from my beer league team racer! I bought one of his F2 Proto 163s a few weeks ago and it is just as described above. World class board.

I'm wondering why you need to go to 36/21 degrees on a 300mm wide board when your boots are 26.5? And 17m radius on softboots sounds crazy long unless you're doing world cup BX. You must have quads of titanal to carve that. Heck, my new Kessler 180 is avg 15m. I'd love to see some video of you carving this beast. I must need new boots. My Driver Xs are nowhere near as comfortable as my .951s while riding.
  17. @nekdut something happened to Chamucos. I feel that the new stuff with the red lettering on the label for “Reposado” just tastes overwhelmingly like cinnamon. I think they must have gone to mass production, and the magic was lost.
  18. My favorite! Nice to see my recipe is similar. I like these ratios: 1 fresh squeezed lime juice 2.5 100% agave tequila 1 triple sec 0.5 agave nectar 2 water 0.5 OJ (optional) shake with ice I’ve found that Cointreau instead of triple sec doesn’t really make it better, it just gets you drunk faster. But it makes a fancy impression at a party. Sometimes if I’m feeling rich I’ll add a splash of Grand Marnier. This is the best cheap tequila I’ve found. I swear you could put it in a Patron bottle and fool 9 out of 10 people. $20.
  19. Missed connection: You were at Sugarloaf today wearing a Winterstick hoodie, Lange ski boots, and a 1993 Nitro goofy asym mounted regular. I was standing by the Comp Center watching in wonder as you glided by. Do I know you? Should I know you? I have so many questions...
  20. Looking for sets for size 25.5 and 28 boots. Setting up two different instructors who are interested in getting into alpine, so donations would be awesome!! The 28s have silver (harder) tongues and he is using them in walk mode. The 25.5s have red (crazy soft, imo) tongues and I'm afraid they might not be enough.
  21. @bumpyrideyou are right, it is healthier, of course. Two things prevent me from being a vegetarian: I love a good steak and I have no interest in living past 100.
  22. Feel the tongue of the boot at the beginning of every toeside. Feed the board into the turn. Pull it back out in between turns.
  23. You know, actually 15m isn't so crazy. The 12-21m on my stock 185 is crazy. Seems to ride like an average of at least 18m. You must be on your A game and ready to slarve. The trees come at you real fast. I used to have 15m on my old Donek 186 in 2004, loved that board. My 2008 Coiler Stubby 170 was 14m, it was my go-to board for several years. This new 180 is really easy to ride. Very impressed. They nailed it.
