  1. Argh. I would buy this right now but I really shouldn’t. Let me know if all others fall through.
  2. Personally I don't use a plate on every board for freecarving. For me where I find my Apex X plate most useful is on my shortest board (Kessler 168) which I use for early season and icy conditions. I don't believe a board has ever been built that could compare to that combination for such purposes. However you raise an interesting point regarding Allflex, because it works totally differently than the Apex style. According to their own website, the plate only has 6mm of travel away from the board before it locks up, and then it becomes a massive flex modifier. It bends with the board after the 6mm. So I think a snowboard could be built to perform as well as a current board with an Allflex. But apparently that board has never been built either, or it would be used in World Cup. These things certainly aren't required for freecarving, but I just find them interesting because for now you cannot be serious in World Cup without one.
  3. Donek AF 4x4 are out of stock, but I suppose you could ask them to make one. I recommend it. Donek F plate works with 4x4, but it's like the original Vist (not Vistflex), so it works much differently than the AF. Apex X-Plate was available with 4x4 hardware, but you'd have to find a used one. I like both the AF and X better than the 5mm original BP I had because the X is significantly lower, and both are lighter, and have better flex. 5mm BP had basically no flex.
  4. I still need to write it down, but most of it ended up being spilled in this thread: https://forums.alpinesnowboarder.com/topic/47464-plates-effect-on-board/ I tested the Apex X-Plate, Donek AF, Vist Vistflex, and Allflex GS longitudinal cut on two Kessler 168s with UPM and Allflex inserts. The wind was taken out of my sails by Apex apparently going out of business, and the UPM pattern going obsolete along with it. But I do have some findings that I'd like to share, like weight and height and riding impressions. Incomplete and super condensed Cliff's Notes version: Best all around: Apex X-Plate Best edge hold: Donek AF Most comfort: Vistflex Lightest: Apex, Donek AF (tie) Lowest: Apex Highest: Donek AF Heaviest: Vistflex Most adjustable: Vistflex
  5. Coming this winter... a bevy of Allflex plates courtesy of @i-carve.com Top two are aluminum, bottom two Carve and Carve Pro are plastic. The Carve model has non-adjustable elastomers in place of springs. The Carve Pro has springs. Big thanks to http://i-carve.com for supplying these new plates for demo.
  6. Close enough. I'll take it if you're willing to ship it. I can PayPal or Venmo.
  7. Interested in the Oxygen 164 to put into the loaner bin. Do you know or can you measure the waist width?
  8. Ha! I think 46 qualifies. At least I feel like it does. However I was thinking of this for a friend. Paging Mr. @D.T.
  9. I don’t suppose you still have this?
  10. Yes. Whoever invented this (Kessler??) was re-thinking the shape of the snowboard in 3D. Decambered noses are designed to blend with the sidecut better when the board is tilted up on edge and bent into the carve. Because the board digs into the snow by some depth, the board can engage with the snow beyond the widest point of the nose. So the nose shape becomes an active participant in the carve. An old-style abrupt upturn nose will plow or even hook, while a new-style decambered nose will slice. An old nose is also less capable at dealing with bumps, especially while tilted up on edge. Think 26" vs 29" mtb wheels. The tradeoff is less feedback from the nose, which some perceive as less positive engagement. Also more fore/aft leverage. Skiers cannot load the nose or tail as much as we can. Twisting can be a bad thing. When I got back on a plate two years ago it made me realize that without one I had been twisting my board in a toeside carve more with my back foot, while my front foot was mostly just along for the ride. This was robbing edge hold on ice. Since then I've concentrated on driving my front knee into the toeside turn, and it's been a big improvement.
  11. Mondopoint is simply the length of the foot in centimeters, easy to measure at home. Donek also sells the bindings - F2 Race Titanium. Get an extra lift kit, they only come with one and you need two - one for under the toe of the front foot and one under the heel of the back foot. Glad to hear W is getting into it! Good luck!
  12. $300 + shipping or best offer. Used 1 day. Great choice for a lighter rider who wants to ski and ride. Intuition liners included
  13. I wrote a bit about it here... http://alpinesnowboarder.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/03/Physics-of-a-Snowboard-Carved-Turn.pdf Pardon the crummy graphs but they are similar to the above.
  14. Kidding aside, I know plenty of fc riders who carve at this level: https://www.instagram.com/reel/CG4dWCslMP1/?igshid=6b8s0an8od5p
  15. Yeah well it's their job. I bet my Java code and TPS reports blow theirs out of the water!
  16. You can't actually carve or do much of anything on a firm surface with the board truly up at 90 degrees. Most pictures you see of people carving, the board is somewhere around 60 degrees or so.
  17. Supercharged 3.0L V6. 333 to 433hp. Actually mileage is supposed to increase during normal driving. When driving like you stole it, not so much. Just got the chip today.
  18. Correct, no physical mods. It just unleashes what's already there. Rumor is Audi detunes the S cars so they don't compete with the RS models.
  19. Just did the APR Stage 1 chip in my 2014 S4 for +100hp! Got the car a year ago. So much fun. Waze is required!!

  21. I've used Transferwise when buying from i-carve.com, which is what they require. Recommended.
