  1. If you want to go on the path of Extreme Carving (EC) to lay it down, forget isolation plates, buy an EC board with softer hardboots like the Deeluxe 325 or the UPZ XC12. EC boards are wider, more versatile than thin and stiff race boards. The stance is also more comfortable, rear foot is usually between 45 and 50 deg.... Combined with softer boots you will have a setup you can ride all day, carving the groomers and laying it down in the morning and still carve the chops in the afternoon...
  2. This is my setup: Coiler BXFR 168 x 26cm, 11m vsr Deeluxe Track 325 boots with BTS F2 Titanium bindings 22 inch stance. Rear: 25 deg. with inward cant. Front: 50 deg. with toe lift. Rides great and I can quickly switch any board I have!
  3. The cake is a lie! Love it!! P.S. I would add the business moto: "... we do what we must because we can!"
  4. New Coiler BXFR 168x26, 11m VSR, T3 for hardboots powder / AM
  5. Yeah, I know but It's a bit late, it will start to rain soon in the afternoon. Will see in the coming days but I already had a pretty good season so I'm at peace with the idea that the season is over.
  6. Will do... But I trusted Bruce, just told him what I wanted to do with it.
  7. I do graphics if you need help! Received mine today, sadly the season is pretty much over...
  8. Same here going from a 175x22 ECVC 13/14m to a 170x20 Nirvana Energy 11m VSR... First run was on ice, put too much pressure on the nose and got thrown over the handles! Like Corey said, with tighter sidecuts, things happen faster, ajust your speed, timing and pressure...
  9. I'm getting a Coiler hard boots powder board based on the BXFR, 168 x 26cm, 11m vsr, T3... I should get it in a couple of days!
On verra!
  11. Moi j'utilise du polyurethane... le "Brush-ON 60" ou du "Econ 80", disponible chez MMC Laval, dispo sur leur site web...
  12. I have Coilers in both T3 and T4 but they are different models so can't really compared, they are all GREAT! I would trust Bruce for making that decision based on your inputs...
  13. I see a somewhat bright future for Hard Boots. More skiers and softbooters are carving every year, some of them might be eventually interested in trying Alpine Snowboarding because of what we do on the slopes. The best thing each of us can do is be friendly with curious skiers or snowboarder and, if you can offer help, tips or even lend equipment for a day of initiation, do it! Just yesterday I got a couple of people coming up to me asking questions about the equipment and technique, asking if I know the other two guys who also ride Alpine Boards (... and yes I did ). Two skiers came up to me asking about that "Coiler" board they never heard about, they where ex-hardbooters... I told them that modern board shapes and materials where a lot better than 15 years old Alpine Board, more versatile and easier to ride, performance and comfort is much better now too. Maybe I planted a seed in their mind to eventually come back to it.
  14. Here is my 2 cents... Like others said, you are conter-rotating alot, meaning your hips and shoulders are turned in the opposite side of your turn. On heel side your hips and are not in the best position, instead of triyng to sit on the ground, try to sit on your rear boot this way you will be able to face the front of your board get your hand on each side of your board instead of front / back... This way you will be able to extend the turn much longer (to scrub speed on steeps) and be much more stable. On the Toe side turn, rotate you upper body and shoulders more inside the turn, you are a bit to square and static...
  15. Thanks Patrice for organizing this event! Great day with good friends! Here is the video of the event:
  16. Good question! Waist, length, torsional stiffness, flex patern and sidecut all play a roll but a big part of succes in EC is technique. It's a great challenge if you like the style but it's worth the effort. It's very versatile too, using push-pull and rotation help alot in gaining lot's of control and power! Now I can carve aggressively almost anywhere and I adapt my style on the fly depending on snow conditions, speed and how it's crowded. It even help me alot in powder (on soft freeride board), now I use alot more range of motion from my legs, knees hips and shoulders to control the board and my body.
  17. I would not say one specific piece of equipment, though I love my Coiler boards collection, it's was more like a timeline shift. One decision that made my life go into a brand new direction! I was hardbooting occasionally since 1996. Rode the same setup until 2014, a Nidecker ExtremSL 60 with Burton Furnace boots. I was riding alone most of the time, hardbooters were very rare on the slopes and totaly absent in my friend circle. I learn by my self, with limited technique and to much speed, steeps or bumps was signaling the end of my riding day. I was about to ditch the hardboot equipment when a colleague told me that a local ski shop had good rebates on Alpine Snowboarding equipement. My old Burton boots were too stiff and uncomfortable so I decided to replace them. I bought a pair of Deluxe Free69 for 329$ CAD$! Then I saw a F2 Silberpfeil 172 at 40% rebate and took the dive and replaced my setup completely, including F2 Titanium Binding, at 40% rebate also! And then the "snowball" started rolling down the hill, picking up speed! I met a bootfitter at that shop, Mamar, also a hardbooter... He offered me to ride with him at our local hill with another friend, that friend introduced me to the "BomberOnline" forum community. There I got in contact with many other riders from my region and took part in many local gathering and events. What helped me the most was riding with better riders then me, I learn alot, got better quickly and was hooked to Extreme Carving the second year! Then I bought a Coiler ECVC 175, OMG, lightyears away from the Silberpfeil... I Worked hard on my skills, "Redia" a local EC rider from this forum helped me immensely and is now a very good friend, including more then 10 other riders spread around the Quebec province. Next step was when I became friend with Bruce, after creating a new web page for him, creating a couple of Topsheet design for friends and other customers, we met and rode a couple of times together, what a great guy! More recently I met and did graphic design for Jasey Jay Anderson, another great guy super passionate about his sport, he is still competing in word cups events at 43 years old! Hardbooting is now really a passion, it's very important in my life...... Because of one small decision.
  18. Here is a short clip from our week long, annual trip to "Le Massif", the highest vertical in eastern Canada. We had a lot of powder that week so carving was a bit limited. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CQ8LslL-E_A
  19. I broke a set of F2 Intec RS, I'm 175lbs... Have multiple sets of F2 Intec Titanium, they are rock solid! Simple proven design, spare parts available if needed, used by racers, good value.
