  1. Camera location is key. Adjust up and down so the nose and tail widths appear roughly the same size in the preview before taking the picture.
  2. Being that this is a US site, couldn't you just use your Glock?
  3. ...If using Metric. US customary unit users need to use handy units like Slug*mile/fortnight or something like that. Ask the NASA Mars Climate Orbiter team for help. That's cool! There's so much to look at. I watched it a couple times.
  4. Can I be a heretic here? Something cold-rated and hard for 2" near edge, all conditions. Then either all-temp or the same cold for the middle, depending on temp. Both are crayoned-on and buffed with wax wizard the night before. Edges get this 2-3-minute treatment every riding day on abrasive man-made snow. Often don't even touch the middle if the temp didn't change. I've never lost a world championship with this setup. I definitely need better in spring slush, but that's a rare day for me!
  5. Amen to that! I just pull the cinch cords tighter when not using the hood. Mostly disappears when riding.
  6. That 20m sidecut got my eyebrows raised up near their limit. Thoughts of old school Avalanche Blade (I think?) with no sidecut... The diversity of shapes is interesting! It's cool that we all have so many choices available.
  7. Yeah, that was a decreasing slalom - extremely tricky to get your decel rate correct. I never did get it right in 6 tries, but I got closer on other runs. This car is both humbling and exciting as my mind is the limitation in the whole system. Top speed is a bit of a guess. Likely around 120 kph (75 mph) for that course. There's some crazy speed amplification when your butt is 2" off the ground and you're practically laying down! (My toes are roughly between the silver and purple decals on the nose) The powerful street cars can have higher peak speeds, but the slicks and low weight means I have a higher average speed.
  8. My snowboarding season is about 3 months. That's short! (I don't count the white ribbon of death of opening weeks as 'open') We don't usually have snow stay around until mid-November. We're a little further South and lower altitude than you.
  9. My local hill is now closed. Not enough water in the creek they used to make snow. And it's too warm to make snow much before December. We have short and fierce winters and summers with very long fall and spring seasons with highly variable weather.
  10. Couldn't these be replicated with a pair of thrift store ski boots and a saw?
  11. A good friend stuck his 360 cam on the nose of my formula car for a run around a local autocross: Not my best work, but fun to be able to look around to see all the angles! Click on the video title to open YouTube to enable panning/looking.
  12. The Turner Mtn road is sealed with packed snow over gravel. Loose snow on good days! But I don't think that's what they mean. I made it up with 2wd, winter tires, and lots of snow/ice driving experience. It would be challenging with all-season tires and 2wd on snowy days.
  13. Makes me want a cheeseburger... Ozone also degrades plastics. Stored near a furnace, air compressor, anything with an electric motor?
  14. Pull the liners so you can access the T-nuts. Put penetrating oil on the tips of the screws/T-nuts and pray. These screws tend to seize as they're often wet. If they're seized; drill the heads of the screws off from the heels, then pound the T-nuts into the shells. Sawzall not needed!
  15. If the sun is hitting the roof of your mouth, you might be smiling too hard. Try a more boring sport, for your health. Kids, don't start carving!
  16. There are models that use conventional skateboard-style wheels. I'm now picturing some sticky kart tires on a skateboard. Can likely pull over 1 G with those if you have enough power. Tire clearance to the deck is a problem, and the crashes would be rough!
  17. Exactly, but go one more level up; can this tool be used to evaluate which method of training is most helpful? Or is it genetic and there's minimal effect of any program? Probably a mix of both, sadly. Every modality of training has its cheerleaders that promise improved everything if you just follow their 10 easy steps, and buy their e-book, supplements, etc. This might be able to cut through that.
  18. That's wild to think that they can predict (even loosely) performance from a few simple tests. Now: Can they use this to validate which activities or exercises most improve a person's performance and/or reduce injury risk? Is it yoga? CrossFit? Olympic weightlifting? 75 Hard? Other fad de jour? I'm guessing that will become a trade secret that they sell to those big sports teams.
  19. It's BEAUTIFUL! Add some pre-cut carrots and a knife to that pic.
  20. I'm still liking this Waterborne adapter set. I put them on a shorter board (cheap Costco 36" pintail) and it woke it right up. Yes, the adapters cost more than the complete board. Silly? Yes. The board fits more easily in my car and the much shorter wheelbase adds to the fun. Great for tooling around with my daughter! Disclaimer: I ride at slow speeds. It's wild how tight I can turn/pump with this thing!
  21. That sounds like a memorable experience! Likely throttled way down so the batteries last longer than a few seconds.
  22. There are so many ways to challenge yourself on a ski hill. Some need those double-black mogul runs with cliffs to raise their heart rate. Some can have fun on a blue groomer. Some are challenged by a green groomer. The best parts about Buttermilk, to me: - Wide groomers - Very few lines at the bottom because so many people share the above lady's point of view - Wide groomers - Fun tree stashes of powder way after the other hills are tracked out - Wide groomers The worse part of Buttermilk isn't even that bad: That chicane thing near the base on the front side
