  1. 10-16"!!! Ok, ok, I'll bring a pow board.
  2. UPZ are shorter with the heel being slid further forward under the boot.
  3. Every wax is a rub-on wax. Add this and you're good: https://www.tognar.com/skimd-pro-glide-waxing-system/ I've been using a bar of One Ball Jay Ice Cold (rated for -12C and lower) for something like 10 years. It glides well down to about -30C. I'm getting near the end of the bar so I need to replenish. Hope they haven't changed the chemistry!
  4. That Coiler sure sounds good when it's only a few bucks more. While you can...
  5. I put 3 boards and one set of bindings on the top board in a Sportube 2 or 3 (use S 3 if carrying a wider powder board). Can do two sets of bindings on top board but staying under 50 lbs gets tricky with heavy bindings like TD3 SW. Pipe insulation is way too soft to protect edges. It just moves out of the way for an impact like the above. I use corrugated cardboard strips and strap the board tightly together Hint: Air lines don't weigh carry-ons so I put dense stuff in them. Like bindings.
  6. Why would there be a name for a Skwal if a Skwal was a snowboard?
  7. Just buy Kibber's helmet and add your own beanie? Adjustable vents and add-in pockets for speakers are a must for me. I prefer a brim. MIPS also sounds like a great idea, but I wonder how much it helps on snow.
  8. Love the creativity in these topsheets!
  9. I'm laughing and crying at the same time!
  10. I'll let you know! It ruled MCC for me, with a huge range of turn shapes. This is my first Contra so I have much to learn!
  11. Santa Bruce was kind to me! Coiler T4 Asmocarve 173. 21.5 waist, ~11.5m Contra sidecut. I mentally bought this board on the 4th turn after @johnasmo let me ride his prototype at MCC. The picture resizing app added a heavy moire pattern. The design reminds me of a heat affected zone on titanium. I love it so much! Like this:
  12. It is important when you're in a short term dip or rise to remember that fluctuations are normal and it's only the bigger trend that matters. But wow, I've never seen a brown Christmas in central Canada in my life.
  13. Boy, I know this one! I struggled after lunch one day, turned out I forgot to lock my boots too after walking around the lodge.
  14. The answer is yes. It's a dumb answer, but it is VERY subject to personal preference. Some people like extremely stiff boots that are locked so any lower leg movement translates directly to edge movement. Some people like more ankle motion so their feet control edge angle. Anyone that says one way is the only way doesn't understand that everyone has different goals in this recreational sport. The best thing you can do is try the two extremes of stiffness and see which one you like more. New springs are pretty cheap compared to the rest of this sport!

    Yo Lci!!

    You had a spreadsheet fire?
  16. If you can't stand comfortably on carpet while watching TV or whatever, it won't get better on the ski hill. So start by adjusting away from any pain points on the carpet. And your partner will think you're cool! What do I mean by "adjust away"? If your shin hurts from pressure, adjust the cuff of the boot forward or lift the heel. Left side of leg hurts, adjust cuff to left or cant the binding to the left. Etc. Than tweak from there once you're riding. It's much more comfortable (and cheap!) to spend the time on carpet first. I run 6 & 6 on TD3s. Almost pure toe and heel lift.
  17. Sad news, but thanks for sharing. Wishing all the best for Dan!
  18. Whatever is on the discount rack, doesn't have pockets/seams on the hip/butt area, has pit zips for cooling, and a chest pocket for phone/tunes. Preferably non-insulated so I can layer, but that's hard to find on discount racks. I mask off and add PlastiDip spray on the hip area to make it last longer.
  19. LOL, love it! And I'm still going to try it because I like experimenting.
  20. I'll be trying an older Vist on my MK this winter. Hoping it keeps the wild MK ride with less buzz, but not looking forward to chairlift rides as my local hills don't have footrests. Or standing on the slippery nylon blocks on Tbars!
  21. Donek keeps the MK (Madd Killer) specs a secret as this was the work of many prototypes and tuning. Barry's is just a wider version, like mine. Stock MK is 18cm waist, ours are 20cm. Barry and I have been talking for something like 3 years about him buying this board. It's a VERY tight turning little board when you load it right. Saves the day for boring little hills that are mostly green runs. I find this board really bothers my knees on icy/hard snow, which I think is something with the different vibrations. It sounds closer to an old fiberglass board than a metal board. Loud on ice! But I love it when the stars align!
  22. Thanks Tim. That particular article is paywalled, but a search turned up others. Neat, I hadn't heard of that. Who loves commuting long distances? I had a couple years of being able to walk to work and the grocery store from my house. It was freaking awesome! Other compromises pulled me away from that, but I'm at a 20-minute commute to work now. I also see that extremists have twisted the idea from a lofty city design goal to some oppressive lockdown concept. Ok.
  23. What's this? Maybe something local to you?
