  1. Your pic looks like the bindings are perfectly set with your boots. I would not change anything on that...the only concern on your boots is that the liner is going to pack out a bit as you use them, so that may cause more issues later. cheers, sandy
  2. A lot of great advice provided above...I am currently on a Driver X and 2021 Union Atlas FC setup (I replaced the forged carbon highback with a regular Atlas highback as I found the carbon to be too stiff on both the Atlas FC and on my Now O-drives). I love this setup of a stiff boot paired with a medium-stiff binding baseplate with a medium highback. Flow NX2-CXs are great but take the time to set them up correctly like @JRAZZ mentioned above. I also owned the Flux XVs from last year and found the same issue with the highback being super stiff, so unless you have calves of steel, I would go with the XF in the Flux line and also the Flux’s have almost no dampening in the baseplates as they market them as a direct connection to the board unlike all of the other choices that have at least some rubber or foam on the baseplates. good luck and please provide feedback on whatever setup you go with. cheers, sandy
  3. @RoroSnow So I sold my StepOn setup... I think it is a very good system, but for driving 170+ boards there is just not enough structural support in the boots...I was able to ride them for eight days in pretty much every kind of condition from windblown ice to heavy wet pacnorwest cold mashed potatoes to ultralight powder and overall they are pretty good, just not quite there for my Tankers...they are super easy to get into but I also found that getting out of them was not as fast or easy as regular strap bindings...great concept, but not quite what I want... I am now back on custom Union Atlas bindings with Kazu highbacks and carbon FC baseplates as well as a pair of Union Atlas FCs and Burton DriverX boots. cheers, sandy
  4. @FTA2R Early 90’s (probably 1992-93 or 1993-94 depending on graphics) made at the Elan factory in Austria. Freestyle board 157cm length. pretty narrow stance and waist, but normal for that time period. cheers, sandy

    Yo Lci!!

Happy 2021 LCI crew...quick question for you all... I am moving to Denver around beginning of April and wanted to know how long the general season at Loveland is to make a decision on buying a season pass for the remaining season? cheers and thanks, sandy
  6. Regular or goofy? do you have pics? I raced one as well and would love to get one for my collection. thanks, sandy

  8. go buy some Granville Island Brewing Lion Winter Ale and then go to Whistler to ride.
  9. @Lurch yes it makes a huge improvement. Without it the boot would be too flexible and you would get at least some heel movement, especially after you break in the boots. cheers, sandy
  10. Thought I would share a couple more findings with the new StepOn X and Ion StepOn setup I got... Was bored today, and did some more floor surfing and wear testing between my setups. My normal setup is Burton Driver X boots with Booster World Cup straps and Now O-drive bindings with Burton old school over the top toe straps (I hate toe caps). Retail price cost difference in my setups: Driver X boots with Booster Straps and Now O-drive Bindings with OTT toe strap = $1077.90 Ion StepOn boots and StepOn X bindings = $929.90. Setups side by side are incredibly close in feel, flex and responsiveness...so close that the decision is going to have to be made after I can get on snow with them... I am very impressed with what Burton has done with the StepOn. Although the Ion boots are a little bit softer laterally than the Driver X, they are a lot more comfortable to walk in and the Snugger Boa strap on the Ions allows you to change the stiffness pretty significantly when you crank it up. Here are the weight comparisons between the StepOn X bindings and Now O-Drive bindings (which are one of the lightest strap bindings available today). Both weights include discs and mounting hardware Now O-Drives: 922 grams/binding StepOn X: 868 grams/binding Boot comparison by weight is: Driver X (size 11): 1180 grams/boot Ion StepOn (size 11): 1300 grams/boot I also replaced the standard forward lean screws and added longer stainless steel forward lean screws that give me more forward lean, but also make it a little more difficult to engage second click on heel, but I think it will be worth a little more effort to lock it in as this feels way more responsive and locked in while just playing around. cannot wait to get on snow
  11. Sad to hear, thoughts and prayers to his family!
  12. New setup arrived today! Burton Ion Step-On boots and Burton Step-On X bindings. Boots are just as stiff as my 2020 Driver X and bindings are a little heavier than my Now O-Drive’s but still very light (I do not think anything out there right now will be as light as the O-drives though). Cannot wait to try it on snow Just floor surfing, there is a little tiny bit of play (but that is a good thing as it will help allow for snow to be stuck underfoot and it is no worse than my O-drives feel with the Driver X and that slight bit of play is obviously where the weird clicking noise every single Step-On review talks about), but once you put start to put board on edge it is a locked in feel more responsive than a side by side test with my O-drives...the real test will be on snow ️ but so far I am optimistic Getting into in them is easy, getting out is a little interesting and will take some time to perfect, but the easiest method seems to be to raise heal out of the mechanism and then twist like you do on MTB SPD type pedals. cheers and more to follow, sandy #radairsnowboards #tanker201
  13. Reviving an old thread as the search did not give me too many new updates. Anyone have any new thoughts or feedback on the Step-On system? i am getting the Step-On X bindings and Ion Step-On boots (as I have heard the Ion Step-On is actually stiffer than the Driver X). i will post some reviews and comparisons with my current Driver X and Now O-drives once setup arrives. cheers and pray for snow.
  14. @b0ardski I will be there with the fleet
  15. @softbootsurferI would not recommend it for your split...the application/chemical will not react well with your skin glue decreasing your skin effectiveness...also of note is that in my experience with the application, p-tex base repairs did not hold to the treated base, so I would not recommend using it.

    It'll buff out....

Glad to hear you are all well
  17. @*Ace* to be fair, I won the raffle for your board (which was beautifully constructed and very high quality design), but since I am the Rad-Air rep and a soft boot carver, I felt it would be great to give it to someone who would ride and appreciate it (and the guy that I gave it to loves it). I think it is important to have all types of riding represented at events like this as it helps get riders talking about different styles where they can share experiences and try boards too...just my thought as a guy that loves sliding on snow, I hope that you will send one as it helps get the info about your products out there and I am sure that any of the vendors going would not have a problem with a skwal in the tent...I will put it in mine if need be and we can showcase the long wide tankers and long skinny skwals in one place. cheers, sandy
  18. Sadly I cannot give input on those as I have not ridden any bindings by Rome or Ride in quire a few years.
  19. Now O-drive differences are just primarily straps and ratchets which made the new versions a bit lighter and more responsive. Now O-drive vs Drive (and Jones Apollo) is actually a significant difference. O-drive is lighter and more responsive. Drive is a 7-10 or 8-10 in stiffness and response where O-drive is a 10-10. if you want a surfy ride I would use the Drive/Apollo but if love direct response and lightweight go with O-drive. Cannot speak to the Nidecker Carbon, but Genesis is way softer than both Now’s.
  20. I am using the World Cup Booster straps on my Driver X softboots. Much like @scottishsurfer, I crank them over my boots once tied to reduce the upper boot flex and I am very happy with how much better my boots are this way. cheers, sandy
  21. While I loved my Pinkerman and Obsession from Rad-Air, I would also recommend you try what BlueB mentioned above and upgrade to a newer board. Your Pinkerman Extreme is 26 years old and board technology has come a long ways since then and even wide boards from the last 5-10 years can be ridden with hardboots and plates without bias at higher angles. I know the OP wasn’t about the board and Sunsurfer I am a Rad-Air global ambassador and love their boards, but I think a newer board would help your riding technique/bias issues and still let you ride at your preferred angles. cheers
  22. @Dan I have noticed a three to five day delay in getting boards from USPS since March...
  23. Rob, I love your idea...I have ridden Happo Banks on my 200 Tanker and 200 Cheater and it is so much fun. The only bad thing is they prep that run at Happo-One for a couple weeks before opening it up to the public as it takes a bit of work to build the entire course. cheers, sandy
  24. I agree the Genesis-X were super comfortable just too much nose-tail flex. on the Apollo’s, they are right where you guessed...in between Drive and Recon (basically give the Recon a Hanger 2.0 base). cheers.
