    New Tanker

@daveo I have not seen anyone ride the new tanker with plates yet, but the core profile is built off of a boarder cross core, so it should work fine. cheers, sandy
  3. You could also checkout the Stranda Shorty if you want a shorter pow board. Or go bigger https://www.strandasnowboards.com/product/shorty/
  4. Neil, They are comletely different. The rocker-camber-rocker profile is totally different. On the Tanker 201, while the board is flat your running length is around 80cm (camber profile is only 5mm and runs just in front of to just behind of the insert packs). The super gradual rocker starts from those points up to the tip and tail where when you put the board on edge you get 156cm of effective edge. Creates a mellow and smaller turn initiation radius too as there are variable sidecuts incorporated into the overal 12.45 m sidecut. The Stranda has a running length of around 156 cm and when you put it on edge you get the full 170 cm effective edge with a 12 m sidecut and roughly 1 cm of camber. The nose has a gradual rocker to it and the tail has a slight rocker in it so that it does not catch when exiting turns. (Here is the explanation from Mats @stranda) As for the ride, both have fairly laterally and torsionally stiff cores and can carve very well, but turning and carving characteristics are dramatically different due to their unique profiles. I will try to get both boards out a bit to share with some other forum members so that they can possibly provide some better feedback, but for me, I will take both boards to the mountain daily to cover down on both snow and my personal condition for the day so that I have the best tool for the day. cheers, sandy

    New Tanker

Shred, There are some pics here: https://www.instagram.com/radairsnowboards/ cheers, sandy
  7. Davekempmeister, The 27.5 width is for the newer Tankers from 2006 forward, and that board on kleinenzeigan has the wrong dimensions mentioned. The 177 is roughly 26.5 and the 167 mentioned in the link should be around 26.7 as they were the German built boards from the Volkl factory. Hope that helps. cheers, sandy

    New Tanker

Dave, the new shape is designed to allow the board to be more turny when at slow speeds and make turn initiation easier. there is less effective edge when the board is tracking flat, but once you put the board on edge, you will actually have more effective edge than the old Tankers as the contact points progressively change when you move the board from flat on the snow to on edge. Also, both the torsional and longitudinal flex patterns were adjusted to make the board feel better with this new design. It is a completely new ride. like you, I have owned and ridden every Tanker made (and some one off prototypes) and this new shape is different but fun. hope that helps, sandy

  18. A pic of the new Tanker 181 prototype (production graphic will be different)!
  19. The new boards are 2018-19 models, with a limited release by LBC if everything goes to plan. Rock on!
  20. The plan is to have the limited early release and all details available on new boards by or just before the Longboard Classic in Stuben, Austria the weekend of 7-8 April. Sorry that there is no other info to share as final prototyping is in progress right now and we don’t want to put out bad or incorrect info on the new boards prior to final design approval. The wait will be worth it and thanks for your patience and understanding. There is a lot of stoke and effort behind these boards and the crew at Rad-Air wants to make sure that they get the best product out. cheers, sandy
  21. Yes, but there won’t be a 187 (but it is close). New sizes coming with the redesigned Tankers. Sorry I cannot share more info yet!
