I have been fortunate to have the opportunity to ride the new plate system that Fin is toiling away on. And yes, I believe Adam has had a big part in its development. Its amazing! I have been on them all and this new creation is definately top of the heap. It took a very funky and firm Abasin and turned it into an enjoyable and chop free ride. Wow, smooooooooth. Allows the board handle the chop, ice and variation and still perform while isolating the rider from the hostility better than any of the other plates that I have been on. I was going soooooo fast and in a comfort level I haven't experienced and still rippin turns at INSANO speeds. All day freeriding? Mabey. Hoping to spend a full day on it in the near future. Definately the most user frinedly system when it comes to setup. Save your pennies and work that overtime, your gonna want one. Think Snow!

You bet, there is an amazing amount of gear in a very small radius in Colorado. Chances are, if you can think of it me or someone close to me has it. Lots of old vintage stuff and all the new stuff you can imagine. Its a privledge to have access to such a large amount of quality equipment. Think Snow!

Not positive but I believe all TD3 center disk come this way now. And the gold anodize was customer spec. You order enough you can spec gold too. They do look nice! Think Snow!

And keep in mind that its mounted on a SG which is already incredibly damp. Just add sidewiders and you wont feel a thing. Gheessh! You will need an attendant to hual it up the mountain for ya! Where does it end, toys an contraptions, its going over board. Think Snow!

??? You are going against logic Jim. If you use a knife as your tool, and you round off the far out reaches of the knife, those portions of the knife are no longer sharp and no longer will penetrate and hold a firm snow surface as well as if were sharp. Therefor "de-tuned" and not as "effective" as it was when sharp. Think Snow!

With the new shapes, I find myself mounting my binders as forward as possible to stay in positive control of the nose as all times. I do this to avoid the inherent nose flubber on decambered boards. In doing this , the nose is always engaged and therefor effective to the tip, not the hinge point of the rocker. The new prototype Doneks I was on last week have done an excellent job of eliminating flubber an now I many be able to reset my binders to a more centered stance on the board knowing the nose isn't predisposed to bouncing around. I have ridden a bunch of them and everything that I have been on is tuned to the tip. Some boards feel a bit grabby with a fresh tune but it seems to wear in quickly. I never have liked de-tune and the same seems to holds true with new geometry decambered snowboards. Do you want all of the available effective edge to be "effective" or just a dull uneffective extension? Sharpen it to the ends, mabey try some different base angles on the tip to soften engagement but don't round it off. Think Snow!

Bruce looked pretty good on his new Apex clad NSR yesterday at the Basin. Rumor has it that he is here in Colorado to throw down and school it in the old man division. Take a good look at the long nose of the Apex plate, Bruce has been screwing around with different bumpers at different positions that acts like a sprung force multiplier (lever) that gives the nose of the board a different feel depending on where the bumper is placed. Fit and finish on the plate is definately not what I would expect from a $1000+ piece of carbon fiber bling bling but its performance is undeniable. As far as the inner working of the plate go, there is really not much mystery there, it is a pretty simple piece that is a new spin (carbon fiber) on a much tried and tested design with a captured end and a floating end much like a Hangle.
