  1. Yeah, like Jim said, if it works and feels right go for it. There is no set "rule" on binding placement. To each his own. Think Snow!
  2. Hey Alg, you gonna style it out on that minty fresh Burner that is now in your possession??? Think Snow!
  3. Huh? Still a little foggy. Progression of this sport and its equipment comes from all who dare to experiment and think outside the box. Apex did a great job and came up with a design that won the Olympics. Their basic design will be much copied and counterfitted for many years to come. I hope they do well. I waxed snowboards couple days ago, just saying. Think Snow!
  4. TD2 3 hole center disk. You still looking? Think Snow!
  5. Lookng forward to another excellent event. Aspen or Bust baby! Bryan, Tille, Billy, and Tom Lapinski, your attendance will be mandantory due to last years abscence. You guys always peg my fun meter. And JBird, you my long lost friend have been gone way too long, love to see ya in Aspen this winter. Oh, and looking forward to seeing the rest of you mountain destroying riff raff also. Cant wait. Espi, if ya show up this year, just remember, don't bring a spoon to a knife fight. Come prepared this year would ya! Think Snow!
  6. Ahhhh, but its a dry heat. Feels kind of like standing in front of a hair dryer when the wind blows. Worked in Scottsdale many years ago for 4 months (June July August and Sept)and then got the hell of of dodge. Why don't you retire and move to Colorado???? Now there is an excellent idea. Think Snow.
  7. I think that we are only scratching the surface of what is available. Some of the Japanese and Korean riders were on many different plates of their own construction. Don't know about U.S. availability but there will be some offerings from Asia. Think Snow.
  8. gonna allow us financially challenged riders to partake in the plate fun! Think Snow!
  9. But, having the best snow and most sunshine of anywhere on the planet makes up for meager employment opportunities. And, I like to tell myself the this next snow season is gonna be off the charts for snow! Self employment is usually the way to go up here, who wants to work for the man?!:( Think Snow!
  10. Its slim pickins here in the high country. Jobs are sparse, unemployment is high, people are hungry and leaving in droves. I wouldn't recommend moving here unless you willing to work for paupers wages or have a fat bank account. Logging is always an option if your willing to put your nuts on the line day in and out; but, I personally wouldn't recomend it, its very hard on the body. Take a look in the Summit Daily or the Sky High Daily (both available online) and you will get some idea of what your up against. Oh, and about the cats. Many small furry family pets rapidly turn into coyote snacks up here. Almost humourous how many reward flyers there are on the bulliten boards for lost/missing pets. Think Snow!
  11. Smartass eh, Nah, I am going for the double stacker wangle dangle. We will call it the Big Mac. Gotta be ahead of the curve around this group. Mine is going to have a blinking light on it, definately will make me go faster. I will probably continue to experiment with plates, they are unbelievably effective. But not for everyday consumption. As soon as Fin gets the 4x4 mounting, I want to mount one one a non metal glass deck for ****s and grins and see how works. Seems that their may be many options to choose from in the near future and at a broad range of price points.Think Snow!
  12. After 20+ years of doing it, and all on plates, I would agree that thumbs, wrist shoulder and neck injuries are very prevalent. But, lower joints (knees, hips, ankles) are also taking a beating. I think that standing on a race board for years and years at very high binging angles has got to create additonal wear and stress on those joints wearing them out prematurely. If I look at myself in the mirror, my body and muscles have developed very asymetircally with a dominate or stronger side and a weaker side. As the years progress, MCL, ACL, and miniscus problems are going to manifest and become more problematic, probably to the point of surgery. I think that it is still a very small price to pay for the fun that I have. Think Snow!
  13. It rides as beautifully as it looks and is built with the same dedication and skill that we have come to expect from Bomber. If you have been trying to step up your game, this could just possibly be the ticket. Think Snow!
  14. It was a plate failure. Unfortunately I can't elaborate on the details. Think Snow!
  15. Flight of the Sandbox. The shiny gold Tinkler has made the journey across the Alantic and now in Colorado. It came out for a preview yesterday. Think Snow!
  16. Sean has come up with a plate system of his own that was tested yesterday. Its an different spin on a existing system with a wood deck instead of carbon fiber and super simple. I think that Sean is shooting for a price point system for those of us mere mortals who might shudder at the thought of paying $1000+ for the bling verision. Set up was simple and performance was excellent. I jammed it as hard and as often as I could in yesterdays gnarley conditions and it didn't pop! Not to shabby for a first run proto. I think this is going to be a good and affordable way for more and more people to experience the performance enhancements that plate systems provide. The weight penality is still there; my request for a 1.3lb version has yet to be satisified, so if your intending to lug it around all day you will probably want to find chair lifts with a foot rest. I think with some refinement and additional testing if might also find itself a home in the race leagues at the local level.
  17. Quite ample. While Nidecker has somewhat fallen off the radar in the last few years, they still make an excellent product. If memory serves me correctly, Nidecker has been utilizing metal for quite some time and durability is good. I have a friend who has been flogging a 177gs though the trees and deep (he is a bit of a freak) for a bunch of years and its still in one piece. Another friend has a Proto (extremely light) with lots of miles on it and its still performing well. Think Snow!
  18. Spot on WinterGold. While they (Kesslers SG) want to run to the bottom of the hill, they are "freecarveable" it that is your desire. For me, driving just a little harder into the turn help complete the classic C shaped turn that us freecarvers desire. I also find that there is less speed burn off through the turn on decks desigined for the race course, its amazing the the mid-turn pump acceleration you can induce on these new decks. A few week ago, I enjoyed a day on one of Sigi's personal race stockers, it was comfortable, fast, extremely versital and a pleasant change for legs that have been battered and bruised by Burners and other glass monstrisities all season. Freeride it all day, you bet. The incredible dampness of todays offerings is a great attribute for old men with tired knees. Think Snow!
  19. Hey Pukas, I think Nick is talking about you! Think Snow!
  20. Not everyone is as cool and enlightened as you o shiny headed one. Think Snow!
  21. I know that there is a couple of different options that are being utilized at this time but I can't comment on specifics. Hopefully some more detailed info will start to become available soon. Think Snow!
