  1. Half point unloading might interest some people on their first day or run. It will allow you to take a shorter path to the bottom if you need to tweak you setup or change clothing. Might help to quell ones fears of what Turner looks like once you are close up. That first impression as you drive up the forest road can make your heart beat a little faster.
  2. Barryj heal well ! Sounds like being careful is not enough anymore. Perhaps a guard angel would be of more use.
  3. Next thaw was today after 35 cm new snow. Believe it or not but grooming crew was able to till down to bare ground last nite. All the new snow is now at the bottom of the run where it will stay until closing in mid march
  4. All of the above depending on what part of the turn. Or where ever they need to be.
  5. Same here in Ontario. There is more snow made and spread for picnic tables and lift base area than there is on the runs. We just got 35cm of snow and less than half of runs are open and never early morning. First runs to open are always the beginner lesson runs not the ones members who have paid for the snowmaking want opened first. Grooming never pushes snow up hill or off the sides where as we all know if you were a skier as well as an operator that is where skiers push the snow. Todays price is $60.00 for 4 hrs. on a 300 foot hill. You have lit my fuse with this post !
  6. A plate is a tool. If conditions are less than ideal a plate is of great benefit if you want to ride all day . I realize that many lucky people have only ideal conditions where they ride and I resent them enormously () Again I would emphasize it is a tool. You should never suggest that using the right tool for the right conditions is not advisable.
  7. Board should ride straight and flat on a gentle slope with a neutral stance. Leaning left or right should make board do the same. It would seem your front leg is the victim of either stance or binding position. As Corey mentioned carpet carving is a pretty good way to sort it out except if the issue is binding centering fore and aft on the board that will be an on the hill adjustment.
  8. The recent death of two people in BC this past week has prompted me to make an appeal to fellow riders to ride with a buddy not just anyone but someone who has your and their best interests in mind. Like an avalanche time is against you if it happens to you and the people you ride with are your life line. They will be of no use in rescuing you if they are 500 yards down the run and their idea of helping is to go look for patrol. Protocall at some resorts might be that if your an adult they may not begin to search until they have checked at the bar. Believe it or not some missing people end up being found in the bar. If a child is missing search begins immediately . Adults are supposed to be more responsible so getting lost is not the same priority as a lost child would be. In my opinion the only one responsible for ending up in a tree well is the person in the tree well but the consequences fall heavily on the people operating the resort communications and patrol infrastructure. The resort employees fallow the protocall they train for it may or may not fit your situation. Please plan when you head down a run with your buddy and know where your riding partner is at all times. Resort employees often blame themselves for not finding the victims sooner while in reality it is not possible. As MCC approaches please be extra careful Turner Mt. is not as big as Whistler but with only 100 - 150 people it is possible to do a lap and not see another rider. Buddy up and stay safe !
  9. And that was probably because they came with front seats that reclined for sleeping or other things campus cops were known to partake in !
  10. Takes quite a bit of time to purge all lines especially if the rupture is on lower mt. Strange that both air and water were involved if that in fact was the case.
  11. Why not do a pool on who is getting sued backhoe operator who buried the pipe. welder of pipe, pipe maker, pipe fitting maker, engineer who designed system, inspector of pipe instillation, snowmakers who hit pipe night before (total speculation on my part ). What would really be helpful would to know what happened and why without all the hype. Glad no one was seriously injured. My general rule is if man made it it can and will break at some point. Anyone want to get working on a program that identifies where all the chairs are on a lift at any time in relation to infrastructure on the ground that allows operator to stop lift exactly when and where is needed.
  12. Barryj Bomber boiler plate lite will serve you well since you are not caught up in the mind set of racing. It is not the current bling but it will make your knees very happy. The sport will be dead along with the current generation of riders very soon so consider this your opportunity to secure a piece of snowboarding history as I am pretty confident any boiler plates out there are the last ones to ever exist.
  13. Where I live we have a well and 40 acres of trees but my kids are going to smother me with snow.
  14. One with burly arms and good on a shovel. To dig me out or pull me from a tree well.
  15. Bruce hates these calls unless you want to order a new board. You would not want to pay two way shipping for something you can fix yourself. You can mix a bit of epoxy, board on side tape over top sheet and fill void sand away excess voila fixed. If you want to get fancy you can add pigment to epoxy white for sidewall black for top. Fix the sidewall then carve out the thin pencil edge tape the side wall and with board flat do the top sheet damage in black. Easy !
  16. I thought this was typical of every day at Ŧurner. Whitewater got 62cm last 24 hrs. so pretty good there too!
  17. People like to compare the numerator but it is often the denominator that tells a better story.
  18. Reminds me of all the hyped benefits of just in time delivery but when there is a problem it is unmanageable . Check out the Kimberley chair lift fire in British Columbia to see what you are in store for if mechanical problems hit the chair that provides the only access to your mountain. My local bump got rid of 5 t-bars over the last few years so now waiting is the only option. Does not seem to matter much this year since we have no snow and only one beginner run open. (etiquette) you almost had it !
  19. I was going to say turkey fat does not count but after seeing the pics I would say I have eliminated all those tasty items from my diet a few years back but damn do they ever look tasty !!!!
  20. Your going to look pretty silly when your kid moves away.
  21. Local bump opened with one beginner run 300 feet @ $53.00 for 4 hrs. Covid is not the only thing keeping me away this year. Even with a membership it is no fun being around angry people.
  22. Is that a turkey bone in the lower slice
  23. They are not specific to alpine boards. What do you expect they will add to your performance.
