  4. Anyone who doubts the intellectual prowess of high-profile footballers might have to think again. Scientists have discovered a link between strong legs and a fit brain that resists the effects of ageing. Researchers found a “striking protective relationship” between high leg power and better preserved mental ability and brain structure over a period of 10 years. The study of identical twins is thought to be the first to show a specific link between leg muscle force and brain performance in a normal, healthy population. Because identical twins share the same genes, differences between them can be traced to environmental factors, such as keeping physically fit. The study’s lead scientist, Dr Claire Steves, who is a lecturer in twin research at King’s College London, said: “It’s compelling to see such differences in cognition and brain structure in identical twins, who had different leg power 10 years before. It suggests that simple lifestyle changes to boost our physical activity may help to keep us both mentally and physically healthy.” The scientists studied a sample of 324 volunteer female twins with an average age of 55 over a 10-year period from 1999, looking at various factors related to health and lifestyle. The results, published in the journal Gerontology, showed that leg power was more closely linked to age-related changes in mental function than any other lifestyle factor tested. http://www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2015/nov/09/strong-legs-healthier-brain-in-old-age

  6. SporTube work great for shipping boards/skis via FedEx . . . Such a pain trying to board a shuttle bus to and from airport terminals. Even a bigger pain when your gear is lost or delayed

  9. Are you still looking for size 27 shells Track 700?
  10. http://www.palau-boutique.com/overlap-hard-ski-boot-liners-palau,us,4,PAL-OVHARD.cfm I am happy with Palua hard/wrap. Thermo fabric and foam (Thermoflex) wore or broke down in the heel after three seasons. Paula holding up fine after two seasons. Just switched them out of Track 700's and into new UPZ 10's. EDIT: The Palua seemed to have a bit more moldable foam in the shaft area than the Thermoflex. I achieved a more comfortable fit in the second season / second baking. During the first bake I buckled just into the first or loosest position; second time around, I tightened up into the second notch which provided a better fit and comfort. Toes had a bit of wiggle room, and I did have a toe box on during both moldings.
  11. Just ordered a Coiler BXFR to mix things up a bit.
  12. Very favorable exchange rate for US buying from Canada.
  13. If you have an older pair of pants, use a punch or hot poker to route through a pant leg. I used a high strength small diameter nylon cord with a small T-handle (think small engine pull cord & handle) to grasp about the bottom of pant pocket height. I had difficulty locating the handle when it was inside my pant leg. Always remember to weight down on your heel when pulling up on the rip cord.
  14. Buy a complete set of interchangeable Fin Tec cables, it's good to always have a spare in one's box of goodies! $24 plus shipping. 15. Posted 26 May 2015 - 04:55 PM Johnny- Welcome to the forum! Be sure to check out a study we did on boot widths and volumes. I have pretty wide feet myself for a short guy and found the results to be pretty darn helpful. http://bomberonline....boot_volume.htm Like This From Wanted to buy . . . But the link appears to be dead? I just rec'd new UPZ's and is the first boot I have tried without getting pains in my toes. Nice wiggle room with stock Flo liner and man can I feel the heal hold. Will have to see if I might be able to get by without heaters?
  16. I had a pair of Skull Candy speakers that were decent in a POC helmet but when I put them into a RED helmet the sound was muted by excess foam over the speakers. The solution I came up with was to remove the speaker from the helmet then heat a 16D framing nail with a torch (nail held with a pair of vise grips) then pierce the fabric and foam that covered the speaker with the hot nail. Repeat for both left and right speakers. The speaker area is about the diameter of a silver dollar (or less). I was able to pierce 5 holes for each ear and this improved the sound.
  17. Got a 167 Rossi XV on order from The-House.
  18. Sent you questions to your gmail?
  19. Buggs, PureBoard stance hurt my back and took weeks to get over. I will never set my angles more than 5 degrees apart front/back. Dialed down to 45/40 on a Coiler 169 VSR XT and ride less aggressive, like a weeble or skateboard style, less Turing the torso into heel side. Still ride 65/60 on the Monsters when it is prime.
  20. I have the same board and recently lowered my angles from 65/60 to 50/45 then to 45/40. Routine has been to ride the 184 Monster for an hour then change up to the 169 and ride the blue groomers for a couple of more hours. Different ride, surf/skateboard feel . . . lots of fun, smiles and heads turning. Not as tight as what Bob rides at Buttermilk, but I think you get the idea
  21. Check under accessories on the main forum . . . Ruroc Helmets, think Star Wars
  22. Buggs, Go to www.alpinecarving.com and click on PARTS for what you need. I used stainless bolts on my heels along with a few wraps of Teflon thread tape. You will also find sources (like McMaster's) from where to order from.
  23. Get a pair of Head glove liners for about $12 from Costco to improve the fit and gain some warmth.
  24. Corey - try mixing it up for a few runs by dialing down your angles to 45/40. Done this the last few days on a 169 Coiler VSRXT 10.5 SCR. The set up took a couple of runs on a green/blue slope to get used to but after a few laps it became fun. You can just press down on the heel sides and you are locked in, no need to rotate your upper body to the extent as with higher angles. Sun will be shinning tomorrow so the first hour or so will be 184 Monster time (65/60) then I will get on the 169 (45/40).
