Fat Old Bastard
Over the years my favourite boards that I have had the most time and fun on were: Burton Backhill Assorted Burton Elites & Performers (Thanks to Rusutsu Resort) Burton Cruzer Burton M6 Hot Logical Nitro Diablo 178 Burton Twisted Palmer Channel Titanium BX Main boards I have ridden (includes boards listed above): Burton Backhill Assorted Burton Elites & Performers (Thanks to Rusutsu Resort i.e. free rentals) Burton Cruzer Assorted rentals Sims ATVs, Gnu Vertigo (?) etc. Burton M6 Hot Logical Nitro Diablo 178 Burton Twisted Nidecker Extreme SL 161 Palmer Channel Titanium BX Rossignol something freestyle board F2 Superglide 172 RadAir Tanker 200 Other boards I have owned but not ridden much: RadAir Reto Lamm LSD 164 Hot Blast 165 Hot Blast 176 Ride Timeless Oxygen SX 164 Hooger Syn-Air-G Rossignol race board big plank My all time favourite would be a toss up between the Nitro Diablo and the Burton Twisted (with an honourable mention to the Hot Logical). I think favourite board is influenced by lots of factors like how fit I was at the time, how good the snow was, how good was life in general. I ride better when I am in a good frame of mind plus fitness really helps obviously. But the most fun I ever had was at Rusutsu on the early Burtons. pebu
I started out on rental boards, but my first board was a rossi budwieser board with the three frogs. I've been riding that for many many years. Then I picked up a rossi xvas. Then I retired my old bud board and replaced it with a moderately used, nearly identical 156. (It was my dads.) Then I needed a sl board, so I got a nitro sl. So here's the list: 154 Rossi Budwieser Board 162 Rossi XVas 156 Rossi Budwieser Board 162 Nitro SL I'm ashamed my list is so short, but when I get stuff I tend to use it until it is no longer useable. (much like our '95 olds 88 royale on it's last legs.) I'd really like to have a bunch of stuff, but realisticly I can't afford to do stuff like that. Give me 5 years and we'll see... www.oldsnowboards.com
last year Somehow missed this thread. Very impressive quivers indeed!! Bob, do you still have the "Element 144cm" by Shannon Dunn? The girlfriends? Looking for a minty copy. I would like to give a number and a list, may be a year or two before I can get everything sorted out. Variety is a good thing Think of it this way. I am most of you without a wife or girlfriend to say " Why do you need ANOTHER snowboard? " I provide "That Guy" that has xxxx snowboarding, so I should surely be able to have 12 snowboards!!! I know I have been used in this way allot. I can't count how many times I walk into a new friends home and meet "THE WIFE". The customs guy looks in the back of my X5 SUV and asks "all that equipment yours?" I say "yes, It is only three snowboards" He looks kinda funny at me and asks "WHY?" I say "short story is I am equipment junkie, one is for powder and the 2 are for groomers" He lets me go with a smile on his face.

BadBrad
K2 Gyrator Burton Asym Air Burton Asym Alp Burton Ultra Prime 156 (still have it) Rossignol Throttle Burton Alp 156 (still have it) Prior 4WD 164 (still have it) Seems like there were more, but maybe that's all. Been snowboarding for nearly 20 years, so I guess my board acquisition syndrome is not too bad. Rode the Gyrator with Sorel hunting boots. Got some Kemper hybrid alpine boots to use on the Asym Air, sort of in between a hard and soft boot setup. With the Asym Alp got the Burton step-in plate bindings and Burton Reactor boots. The bindings never worked that great and the boot buckles broke. Then I got some Burton Race Plates and some Burton Wind boots, and that's what I'm still using today. I have 2 sets of the race plates. I tend to buy stuff that is a previous year's model at about 1/2 the price of new, but this year bought a new 2008 Prior during the Turkey Sale. Rob Stevens
3 Outlands. Swallow tails. Built by the guy who invented the VPP suspension on mountainbikes used by Santa Cruz and Intense. Metal edges when Burton / Barfoot were running fins. 1 Avalanche. 3 Sims. 1500 FE and 2 pointy-nosed 1710 Blades. 3 Kempers. A freestyle, an Aggressor and a Screamer. The last 2 were mounted with high angles after meeting Kevin Delaney and some other Sims carvers in Whistler at an OP event. Koflach lace-up hard shells were really coming into their own... Boots were originals from the Outland days. F2. Had about 10 of these through a sponsorship from 91 to 94. Good race boards but **** freeride shapes. These were the years of my descent into alpine madness... Missed too many pow days. Oxygen. Boy, did these guys ever start out rough. It was at this time that I promised myself that when I had the money, I would never ride a board because someone was willing to give me one. Again, some good carvers, but the freeride shapes were horrible. Likely had about 20 over the years, buy my favourite Oxygens of all time were the KR 172 and the Dangerous, hands down. I'd like a KR now for EC. Rossignol. After a few bad years I was finally back with a company that could build a freeride board. The Melhuse carvers were deadly, too. Morrow. Had 2 of those... Thanks Warburton. The 176 Goodwill was the best board I had ever ridded, up to that point. Salomon. Had half a dozen very nice boards. Not a dog in the bunch. Used the Morrows and the Salomons during the Ride Guide days. Back on Sims. 172 Daytonas all around. Atomic. In the Oxygen years, I used to tell the rep time and time again that if they just called it Atomic and switched to black with skulls, that they'd move some product. Better late than never. Swell boards... Probably had 10 or so. Favourite was the 164 Radon. Red with a dragon on it. I'm buying them now, because I can... First bought was the Salomon Fastback 174. I love this board. This year, I bought my first Ride. The Yukon 164 is really nice. A Coiler race board (185 WC) sits in the garage, waiting for the day it gets the call. The rest are Noboards. A 160 Burton Fish (my first Burton) and a Forum Streetdweller in a 155. This was a fun mental exercise. Brought back some memories.
