still good snow but not much of it. still needs more snow which should

happen wed, thur. having fun on my old crappy rock/pow board with

softies. sunny blue skies made it feel a little warmer.

still around zero degrees. chair 7 having issues and stopped running.

good thing i did not get stuck down there. the tree that fell on a lift

was the easy rider so no big lost.

10:30 Update: Well we can give props to our wonderful weathermen over at the National Weather Service because it began snowing at 8am on the dot and hasn't let up. With the heavy snow that came with our past squall we now have a great base for more of the fluffy stuff to fall upon. And on another happy note, I just received some info that has made me grin, ear to ear, Whitefish Mountain Resort has the deepest reported base in the state of Montana!!!!

With all this snow coverage please be aware of Ski Patrol closures, they've been charging like madmen and we'd like to keep you safe and having fun. And we will be closing Chair 4 at noon today so if you haven't got your fill of the "4" better get up here soon. This last week was nothing short of amazing, 41 inches of powpow in the last 7 days and it's been predicted that there's more to come! Today the National Weather Service is calling for 100% chance of snow accumulating 5-9 inches and 100% chance of snow tonight as well with 3-7 inches of accumulation.

first, yesterday was a warm soggy mess in town, i had to work,

it snow and rained hard all day, but last night did not snow too much.

so all the snow got groomed down to some nice soft groomers.

as the big opened it started to snow, so soft groomers plus new snow

and holiday crowds made it bumpy pretty quick, but the early stuff

was great! it was my first day on the hardboots on a fp157 this board

is too small for me so putting it away. snow coverage is almost there.

still saw some small rocks on the cat track on eds run. forcast for

the next week is snow every day...

Hi guys- I just moved from Portland, OR to Missoula. And I'll try to make it up there for the BMES. Maybe before and after too. I'm heading up to Montana Snowbowl tomorrow. Should be good. But I expect that the runs are better for race boards at BM than Snowbowl. I have'nt been to BM since the winter of 95'. I remember some great wide open groomers and sweet powder fields. My Donek may not get the attention it deserves until I get up there. Snowbowl is great but probably not as good for carving as BM.

Anyway, I wanted to say hi. And let you all know I'm looking forward to meeting you some day and tearing it up.

i should have known better... no new overnight snow in town.

big mtn snow report said 4 inches new, bull, perfect groomers.

brought the softies, should brought the hardboots, would have

been a great day of carving. next time i listen to me. mostly

sunny day. the holiday crowd was too much, one of the busiest

i have seen this year... chair 1 full to the end of the gates,

chair 2 had 4 people on each chair. holiday madness...

Hey Slopetool! Welcome to Missoula! (I live about 25 miles south of town!) I worked at Snowbowl for 4 years... no, not very carving friendly, but there is some extreme terrain! I teach up at Lookout now if you ever get over that way, let me know! For now, I'm there on most Sundays and Mondays. Nice snow there and nice grooming too. Not very steep, but plenty steep and wide for me! I hope to make it to Big Mountain at some point, do you want to carpool for the day? Email me...

The report this morning said 4 inches in the last 24 hours.

24 " in the last 4 hrs is more like it. We are getting pounded! there is 18 inches + on the valley floor and no sign of stopping. I am calling it official we can no longer complain about a lack of snow. Over 70" since christmas.:biggthump

Well, pooh! :( I can't get time off for both BMES and SES, so.... I'm planning to head to CO (I'm already on the hook for SES housing.) I have a coupon for Whitefish: buy a 3-of-5 day lift ticket for the price of a 2 day ticket. Only good from 1/4/09 - 1/31/09. Free to a good home! So anyone heading to Whitefish, or any locals with a friend coming to town - email me your address and it's yours.

And maybe next year BMES will fall on my days off, so I won't have to beg.... :)
