Representing Virus here. The board is new to me and I got this board used from German website with very good price. The seller was gracious enough to send it to the US . Board: 176cm Black Death Zylon Evo. 15cm width I cannot believe the board is from 2013 and still looks awesome in 2022!! I love the Zylon/Carbon combination. #magicdust #frankthetank Now where are the snowy weather !?

It is important to ride with someone who is good/great, ride often, take a video and have fun. Also ride in EVERY condition with those good riders. Though riding perfect groomers is the best feeling any carvers can have, try to ride every condition. It will definitely make you much better rider and will enjoy more too. I have been riding hardboots for while (joined the forum in 2004) but I improved exponentially in the past 5 years as I am now riding with great riders and ride 50 days a year. Before that, I was only riding max 7 days out of a year with no one else to guide me. So it is fair to say I sucked before that (although I thought I was cool back then rofl) Nothing better than analyzing your own riding with a video

Condition: Wide variety of snow condition from soft snow to slush Location: Arapahoe Basin Board: Softer version of U195 Set up: MS 951 w/ SG bindings I was able to try the board out this past weekend and I enjoyed it quite a lot. Although the condition weren't powder day, I believe this board can rip on those days. The waist width was just about right, not too narrow nor too wide. It is quite hard to find board that can right comfortably with hardboots set up so It is quite awesome to have this board, especially able to have stance width of 46cm (normally I ride 48cm stance width on normal alpine board) which allows for comfortable stance at lower angle. For me, this is a huge plus as I don't have long leg like some people. I was able to carve without worrying too much about buckling the nose and/or flexing the board with hardboot set up. Although the length is 195cm, it was surprisingly easy to maneuver through narrow runs at the lower mountain (half of the run is closed due to lack of snow). It would be difficult to say what I would change but trying out slightly softer nose would be interesting especially in powder days. Overall it was great board and definitely want to have in my quiver: the powder board that can also carve on the groomers.

Abay-bay is still open but not the best of condition but still on the hill riding. i guess 3-7” is coming at the end of the week …

It sounds like Coiler would be the best option with budget friendly custom build to what you want. When you have a particular spec you want in your mind, you end up spending same amount of $ trying to find used equipment. Definitely recommend custom build

What helped me personally more than any set up was to focus on "looking back". As a recreational carver (not a racer, closed run for race course), there are usually someone behind you who has no idea what WE ARE DOING and "looking back" not only helps with safety but also rotation as well. Here is a great example from Velvet Pro Video, check out 3:09 "Basic rotational carving turn" I like to think in my head as "closing" the turn. I am regular stance and without bending the top half of the body, I focus on reaching my outer left knee with right hand on heel side turn and reaching inner area of my left knee with left hand on toe side turn. This is the simple things that I focus on but there are other things that I do keep in mind pending condition of snow, type of board, etc. It works for me and just my 2 cents: I am no instructor and not in position to lecture anybody but just sharing what worked/works for me Some may say "thats wrong" .... errrr I really don't care. I look fine, enjoy riding, and I am at a point where I don't have to mess with my set-up (set it and forget it). I hope this helps. I hope to see you again in Aspen next year

@Carvin' Marvin I have not gotten spare parts in a while but my contact was direct from MS. But Andrei had gotten from Ivan at Icarve and Allboard sports. Also you can play with spring stiffness from normal vendor online and cheaper, Eric from LCI had website to order from.

Welcome to the yellow boot gang @Carvin' Marvin!! I have been loving the boots and it is my 5th season on it. the notch in the middle helps to hold the longest cable in place without them coming together and create more “stretch” on the cable from my understanding. Maybe that cable would have more stress if the notch wasn’t there? I would def get extra cable in the car Bc that’s the first thing that would give. One of the reason I got World Cup tongue (my boot is standard, 100 and got extra tongue from MS) is Bc I was flexing the tongue too much and the cable slipped from that notch which created awful noise. I got yellow and red spring (red with quite a bit of preload, someone has my yellow and hasn’t given back to me yet lol) my set up: -100 stiffness (standard) - World Cup stiffness tongue on both boots - yellow spring in the rear - red spring with preload in the front - booster strap let me know if you have any questions:))

It was indeed nice seeing everyone!! The trip was great overall and finally got to try Aspen mountain and lapping Copper bowl and Ruthie’s. But today at highlands was great with bunch of carvers diggin some trenches!! Definitely I want to do this next year and hang out with carving friends!! it was interesting to come back to Aspen this year on awesome carving days as it was in 2017. I was scared of most runs in 2017 Carvin session but now I totally enjoy it!
