  1. The first two images are coming up as "file not found", I only get the camber measurement pic.
  3. I've been spelling my name switch for 12 years, but it doesn't work for me. Am I doing something wrong?
  4. Don't try to ride it like an alpine board. Don't try to face the nose. If you rotate, don't over do it. Don't forget, a board with softboots has much less edgehold. Don't use too high angles, softboot bindings don't have side support like hardboots do. I personally like around 24/15 angles.
  5. From what I heard, Ski Bazar André Bouchard is a good bootfitter. He is on the road between Québec city and Mont-Ste-Anne. You should call ahead before going to make sure thee is going to be someone there to do it.
  6. I have lots of shoulder problems (I've had several dislocations on both shoulders). This is exactly what I started to do a couple a years ago and it works quite well. When i say to people they have to learn to fall when snowboarding, they just laugh at me. It's like judo, you have to learn to fall not to get hurt.
  7. Because on top of the page, it says Bomber Carving Community and not Bomber Hardboot Community.
  8. Just an unrelated sidenote: when people said racing board, I think it's not the racing board you buy in a shop or direct from the manufacturer but a racing board built to spec for a sponsored racer.
  9. Je me disais exactement la même chose la dernière fois que je suis allé à St-Sauveur/Avila.
  10. Same here, similar setup: Nitro GTX 166 (moderately stiff freecarve) Catek OS1 (stiff bindings) Burton Furnace (stiff boots) Conditions are very suboptimal here. I went snowboarding only one time this year, my skier friends found the conditions good, but not me. I had a very hard time. A stiff setup doesn't help in bad conditions like this. The equipment may not help, but it's always technique IMHO. A good rider can ride anything. I don't know know if equipment can slow down progress though. I don't remember: do you have a BTS on your boots?
  11. I am also in the market to replace my 14 years old Smith goggles. Any other pros and cons of spherical vs. flat lens?
  12. I took some action shots yesterday of a local ice biking race and it was fast enough to get some decent pictures. I'll upload them to my website soon.
  13. Je suis allé faire de la raquette sur le Mont-Royal vendredi soir. C'était comme marcher dans du sel et il y a eu moins de neige que ce à quoi je m'attendais. Plus proche de 15 cm (et encore) que de 25.
  14. From what I read a while ago, Olympus Stylus are good cameras, but their advanced compacts are slow.
  15. If you like Nikon and are a pro, maybe check out the P5100: all the good features in a smaller package. From what I read, the Nikon P50, while similar, is not as good. I have a Canon A720IS, and it's pretty nice, good features in a inexpensive camera. If you are interested in more quality in a small package from Canon, it's the G9 (or G7 to a lesser extent). I also read some good things about the Fuji F40 and Lumix LX2.
  16. Je ne pense pas pouvoir y aller.:( Dans 2 ans peut-être (c'est biannuel).
  17. Maybe a sticky thread with seller/buyer feedback? It would make searching easier.
  18. Second that. Maybe something like: -People can find carving gear on ebay through raceboarders.com's link, no need to post it here, unless it's yours.
  19. Happy birthday Stan! Your gift will soon be in the mail (I haven't forgotten you).
  20. Back in 1993, a guy I boarded with had that same Mistral jacket and rode a Sims Blade. Edit: Looking for this pic?
  21. Actually, it's a 1995 Factory Prime with 1999 Carrier bindings. I got my server back, my website should be back online very soon now.
  22. I don't boycott movies with guns, I still enjoy watching the Bourne trilogy or The Matrix, but I will be less inclined to watch a movie with important gunplay. My GF said something pretty interesting regarding movies: There are still lots of movies about fascism or government with excessive power, it was realist to fear such a future 50 or so years ago, but they are not representative of the way things are going. Private companies are the ones to watch in our present occidental society; they have way too much influence over the governments. Enough for paranoia... for now.
  23. Hey, I still wear my old Concept jacket (or anorak?) from 1995 with a half zip and a big kangaroo pocket up front. It has a breathable waterproof coating and sealed stitching. The colours are still in fashion. Why wear a new jacket when the old one still works? Same thing with my mitts, 1995 Ride mitts with Kevlar everywhere. Some stitches had to be done, the line was changed, not waterproof nor wind resistant, but they are indestructible! I've had those longer than my board, bindings and boots!
  24. It's not that I'm sensitive, it's an ideological thing.
  25. Gun Kata makes me not want to watch it. Remember the gun threads a few months ago? (Please no one resurrect it)
