  1. I thought it was my friend's, same size, same side, same bindings, but the location does not match.
  2. Maybe this is the backlot of an arena with some Zamboni droppings/regurgitation.
  3. Polycarbonate and Lexan, it's okay. Use a fine tooth saw, like a metal saw or bigger teeth, but not as big as a wood saw. Acrylic or plexiglas, be very very careful, it can shatter easily. Always use eye protection. But I guess everyone realized "polycarbonate good, acrylic bad" by now.
  4. Sorry, but Mont-Tremblant blows (or sucks, or whatever). Some will swear by it, some hate it. Mont-Ste-Anne is my favorite for carving, Le Massif for the sight (not carving friendly) and Jay Peak is my favorite for tree riding.
  5. Read snowboard packaging thread in FAQ section.
  6. I'm 5'8" 170 lbs and I ride a 166. For me, this length is good for allround carving on the hills we have in Québec (narrow trails, varying height). For the stance, it varies from person to person. When I rode flat, my stance was around 18.5", but with cant, it's 19¾".
  7. I didn't calculate, but maybe 150$/year since I have a permanent job (and cleared my debts). Catek OS1 2 years ago, Burton Alp and Catek WC last year, sold Alp this year, thinking about Donek Pilot this year if I can demo one...
  8. Maybe deep thoughts = deep trenches?
  9. Even if I work in engineering, some of my geometry is far. Isn't quadratic and elliptical the same?
  10. For alpine stuff, Bomber only for. I had only one semi-bad experience buying, but it was my fault, and I didn't lose anything.
  11. I started with some Burton Performance in 1998 (added some aluminium disks in 2003), then got some Catek OS1 in 2005 (used) and some Catek WC in 2006 (used), both short plates. I keep the Performance for my old Burton Air, I use the OS1 on my Nitro freecarve deck and used the WC on the Alp that I got last year and sold this year. No issues with any of those 3, but I don't carve as hard as some here do.
  12. I'm glad you like it and it made it to you in good shape.:o
  13. Some people complain that racers don't come here. People who know racers say it's because racers don't feel respected here because people put their knowledge/ability in doubt. Yet, racers come here to unload their used stuff. When they do, they have little posts, so people don't know if the seller is reliable. The someone who knows the racer says: "He's racer, I know him, he's reliable". Sometimes it works out, sometimes it doesn't. In this case, racer was rude, so people are less likely to respect him or find him reliable to get his stuff. Racer never comes back because he feels he is not respected. Wheel goes round. Who's fault is it? Nobody, it's the internet, that how it is.
  14. Please elaborate... We are a couple of French Canadians here (as BoarderYUL noted).
  15. Don't forget, people here talk a lot about longer boards like everyone rides one, but it's not the case. A too long board is going to be harder to start on. So I say a 172 Axxess may be OK for you. When it gets crowded and you ride a 180+, you wish you had something smaller.
  16. Like I always say, half of the entertainment on Bomber is in the classifieds, especially when D-Sub tries to sell stuff (or gets involved).
  17. I assumed it was OK as I received the board last year packaged like that in good shape (in went across the country), so I packed it like I received. And I was a little paranoid so the cardboard is doubled up almost everywhere.
  18. Here is what I know from experience: Polycarbonate is usually sold in 3 thickness in renovations stores: 3mm (1/8"), 4.5mm (3/16") and 6mm (1/4") Cutting boards are made from HDPE, or high density polyethylene, very common plastic. Acrylic http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Polymethyl_methacrylate HDPE http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/High_density_polyethylene Polycarbonate http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Polycarbonate
  19. I shipped a snowboard last week for the first time and these instructions were really helpful! It was harder than it looked though, maybe because I shipped it with some bindings or because the box was a teeny bit too wide, but I managed to do it and the board is long gone.
  20. The Twisted is a renamed Asym Air from 1996 (last year of asym): http://derf.dyndns.org/~derf/gallery/snowboard_Burton_1996/Twisted
  21. I'm not in the market, but what about the base and edges (if any)?
  22. My personnal opinion is ride what makes you happy. You have to think about why are you into snowboarding. Performance or fun? Does more performance bring more fun? It's up to you to decide.
  23. I presently ride a 1999 Nitro and if I can demo a Donek Pilot, I may just switch...
