  1. My dream board is a Coiler AMX 169 19 cm wide (one board to rule them all), but I don't have 700$ to spend on a board a this moment in my life; I barely managed to ride 3 days last winter, 5-10 is my usual number of rides per winter. I was looking at a Donek Pilot which could be an interesting softer freecarve/AMable board at a decent price. I presently ride a Nitro GTX 166 which can be a handful to ride sometimes and I want something a little softer/easier to ride but that can still perform. I bought a Burton Alp 171 last winter and I found out I don't like ~21 cm wide boards and it was too stiff for me (I'm 170 lbs, lower end of the range of the Alp). I can ride more aggressively if I want, but I don't always want to, hence the reason I'm looking for a softer board. With the topics I read in the previous months, I feel my interface may be a bit stiff (Burton Furnace boots, Catek OS1/WC bindings), but I don't feel like changing it for now.
  2. Hoping for the best, wainting for Fin to say to get out the party hats... On a sidenote: They did drop here in Canada because the exchange rate is really good for us. Unfortunately, I already have too much bindings. Donek boards are starting to look more and more tempting...
  4. I had to empty the cache on my browser to see it.
  5. Wow, and I thought I had seen it all with Parkour and urban freeriding/trial (on a mountain bike).
  6. My calendar says there are still 6 more days left to summer. You're about a week early...:p
  7. Did you even go to the site? It's about every other player there is except iPods. It's not an iPod bashing site or some "fanboyism" about some brand, it's just a site where people can go get some info about other, better alternatives. In essence, what they say is that there are some other players than iPods and some have more features, better sound quality and so on. Some people think the iPod is the only mp3 player that exists or think that it's the best because it's the one that sells the most, which is not the case. It's like everyone saying Burton are the best and only worthwhile boards because they sell the most, while Donek, Prior, Coiler and all are clearly better. In essence, Burton succeeds because of it's marketing, not because of their quality. Apple succeeds because of marketing (and user friendlyness) while there are better options for users with different needs or more technically inclined users. So, to recapitulate: Apple = Burton
  8. I don't like iPods much for a couple of reasons: -Battery is not user replaceable -Needs iTunes (I hate that software) -Proprietary USB conector -Overpriced Here's my take on their offering: -Nano: ugly format, copy of the Creative Zen V+ -Classic: old model repackaged with a bigger drive (160 GB is a LOT of space) -Touch: copy of Cowon iAudio D2 (with a browser and Wi-Fi, but no memory card slot for expansion). For info on other mp3 players: http://anythingbutipod.com/
  9. I'm with bobdea and Jack on this one. A car is not an investment. A safe car is worth spending more, but it's still not an investment, it's just common sens. Back on topic, it's up to you if you feel it's worth it to get a new XC70. If you got one in the first place, it must have been worth it to you, especially if it was just 2½ months ago. Although, if after 2½ months you feel it was not worth it, get something else. If you need the space, get another wagon, don't get a truck (meaning: SUV), nobody needs a truck to get from point A to point B.
  10. D-Sub doesn't buy many boards, he was just reacting because the gear vacuum (either oldsnowboards or Thor) was buying lots of used boards. Oldsnowboards is a collector, that's his thing, but Thor is selling lots of the boards he bough (see other thread). I'm not defending D-Sub (he can do that himself), just clarifying the situation. P.S. did you know on some forums, discussion in not tolerated in Classifieds sections and people get warnings for this. Glad it's not the case here, half of the action on Bomber is in the classifieds!
  11. The only cars I know with 5 cylinders are this year's VW, old Audis, current Volvos and the Acura Vigor from the early or mid 90s.
  12. If you are stopped and the magnet is lined up with the sensor, any small movement or vibration is picked up as a wheel turn. The speedometer only calculates speed by dividing the wheel circonference by the interval between wheel turns.
  13. Geo Metro, Pontiac Firefly, Chevrolet Sprint and Suzuki Forsa/Swift had the same 1.0L 3 cylinders engine.
  14. From my experience, the shutter on the C series is slow and the Stylus are OK if you don't mind proprietary batteries. Speaking of batteries, the Canon SD series have proprietary batteries and the A series use AA batteries.
  15. It's a freecarve board labelled as a race board. Never rode one, but I have a Nitro GTX 166. If it's anything like it, I would say tight turning, hooky, lively, not damp. I don't know about an all mountain, depends on your weight and what you like to ride. And it either a 1998 or 1999, 2000 at most. Here are the specs: Advanced design, construction technologies make the CAM perfect for high speed, powerful carving. Advanced carving, racing boards designed using finite elements calculation, progressive sidecut, 3D construction featuring integrated fiberglass tube, stone ground base finish, diamond edge tuning, IsoSPEED 740 Sintered base. Length: 162 cm Edge: 142 cm Sidecut: 9,3 m to 7,3 m (progressive) Waist: 17,9 cm
  16. It's like people not reading instructions manual and complaining that things don't work.
  17. Is it a good idea to bring maple syrup at the ECES or is it too common there?
  18. I think he forgot to renew his domain name. I have 2 other email addresses for him, I could try to email him to see what's happening. Edit: email sent to yyzcanuck
  19. #3 wins! And it is a dudette, not a dude.
  20. I'll just try to ride more, and maybe go to the ECES.
  21. yeah I'd feel bad for the FORD too I'd feel bad for the camera!
  22. From what I have read, the best bets are for the Canon A5xx (A550, A560 or A570IS), A630 or the Fuji E900. I haven't tried them though, except for the A610 briefly.
  23. I'd say it's a Donek SL It's Sl but looks lile S1 because of the Courrier font. Like this: Sl vs S1
