  1. Fingers crossed. Driving up tomorrow and on the hill after riding with the kids. Probably carving later in the afternoon or evening. Just picked up a yellow Donek Rev so look for me if you are there. Pierre
  2. Going with the family for the MLK weekend. Staying at the lodge to try out the new water park. Glad to hear they have at least one carving run open. Were they blowing snow on Pocono Raceway? Expecting lots of people for the long weekend so a bit apprehensive to bring a carving board if it's going to be a non-stop Chinese downhill.
  3. So if you fall on the ramp with both feet clicked in, then what? That fish out of water look wouldn't do much for the image of our hobby. Maybe we all agree to leave a foot out so you can stylishly pick your self up and skate out of the way of Joe skier.
  4. Liked this. http://www.alpinecarving.com/beginners.html#skills
  5. Strip it out, then drill the head of the screw off with a bit about the size of the screw hole. When the four screw heads are off (assuming none backed out) pull the heel off and take a look at the screws. You can spray with penetrating oil or WD40 and let it soak overnight. Then hopefully you can use a vice grip to back the screw out. If they break, you may have to drill them out and retap the hole. If that does not work, drill straight through and T bolt a new screw in. Easy?
  6. If it's marked as used, I have found it does not get slapped with an import duty. New items do. Also, sending from and to a residential address often helped when I lived in the UK.
  7. I have a 6 degree cant disc for a TD3 binding that I would like to trade for a 0 degree cant disc. Anyone want to do a swap? Thanks, Pierre
  8. I like when members guide me to links to Craigslist or Ebay that may or not be listings from other members. Why not increase the size of the pool?
  9. I booked MLK weekend at the new lodge with the wife and kids, mid-Jan. Going to be packed I'm sure but thinking of carving for the first couple of hours in the morning each day. New water park looks like fun. Let me know if you are going to be there as it would be great to meet some folks.
  10. Hi hWebb, I was interested in the bindings. Sent you a PM. Thanks
  11. I'm interested in the bindings so ping me if you want to work something out with Dan. Thanks
  12. Went up to Vermont this weekend for my wife's roller derby match. Saw the top of Stowe and Killington from the road. Unreal how much snow is already up there. It was still beach weather last weekend. Whole family is in the mood now.
  13. Guessing this is long gone by now but thought I would check. Still have it?
  14. I find that one the camber flattens out, the board feels like it's out of gas. I rode two libtech grocers back to back. One that was flat as a board and the other with a fair amount of pop. Like two different eras. Granted this was on soft boots, but I would start there.
  15. 1986 Burton Elite 140. This was my third board not counting the other Elites we used to pull binding inserts out of a few times a season. Wish I kept pictures of what we wore with my first factory prime. Go neon.
  16. I have an incline 165 with a 25.5 waist. Great board for soft boots. Only down side is that the board feels a bit heavy. I view this as a soft boot board as I ride about the same angles as you on this. Not sure if people are getting the incline as a one for all board but I would suggest a second board to ride with hard boots.
  17. Not that this is going to be helpful for CA, but I called a highly recommended boot fitter in NYC near where I live and the initial consultation was going to be $400. There was a long list of prices for any additional work needed. Not sure how pricey your person was but I didn't expect a boot fitting to cost more than a root canal. I decided to go to my local ski shop and get the fitting equivalent of taking my truck to Jiffylube but I must say, he did a good job as my feet feel pretty good. It cost me a $20 tip as he did it 'on the side'. Again, might be a NY thing. Good luck with your fitting but beware that I think they charge real money for their service. Curious to know what others have found. Also, hoping someone can actually help you with your question.
  18. Your shortest board is a 193? Are you 8 feet tall or do you just like to go straight and fast?
  19. I know many of us are in the middle of a heatwave but I need some motivation. What are the best helmets with audio? I just picked up a K2 Diversion and think it's pretty good, but the sound is way low and many online complain about the sound quality. Where are the good helmets that will keep me safe, but have a decent sound quality to cure boredom on North East lift lines? Thanks,
  20. No complaints please if you live in Denver. Must be nice to have so many choices close to home. Getting a day or weekend trip for some carving involves quite a bit more effort for us. Even then, you are bumping lunch trays with entitled families from NYC and Boston. I would appreciate each turn and try to convert some skiers along the way. Dying or not, make the most of it.
  21. As someone that has gone from Burton Race Plates to F2 to TD3s, I can say that if you can, start with the TDs. Everything worked fine but the solid feel and construction of the Bomber bindings is pretty good. Plus, they look pretty high tech with the colored elastomers.
  22. Have you seen this boot fitting article? Pretty accurate results if you follow the two finger rule. http://bomberonline.3dcartstores.com/assets/images/PDFs/Sizing_boots.pdf
  23. Still think I would choose parallel slalom to co-ed curling. When I lived in London the BBC would show all sorts of events that I have never seen on US TV. All in sports where the UK had a chance to medal. Must say, there sure are a lot of sports that don't make for interesting viewing. Air pistol anyone?
