  1. Buck looks pretty good from the web cam (cept the milk run camera, it looks like the lens is currently covered in snow/ice) I might venture out tomorrow evening. Still need to scrape a board, mount up the intecs and adjust bindings. I think this is the latest start to a season for me since college.
  2. Buck must have the most snow machines per square foot, and some newer equipment. Looks like no main lift yet, I’ll probably wait till we pass the warm up. Or if Bob goes and says it’s good =)
  3. Got mine molded last night, went well I think. Heated them to 215 degrees F. I'm adding an ankle wrap to get some better heel hold (after molding). I had a pretty large gap that allowed me to lift my ankle up pretty easily. That problem got better after molding but was still there. He said to trace around the ankle wrap on the liner and cut out the center so it doesn't push your whole foot forward. It's the thingy above the doughnut. The wrap is ~3mm thick We'll find out how the boots work soon
  4. I'm getting my formed at Pierce Ski and Skate this Saturday since I know people there, I'll let ye know how it goes. I have the stock Track 700s liners. The form is your foot so I don't think it's that big of a deal =)
  5. Wild is maybe a little more spread out, I'd probably like carving at PR more cause I know it really well. But the ski nerds have been known to put down 3-4 courses that take up the entire front side (zonker/gun powder) which is the good stuff, that sucks. They usually only take up one side. Whenever I'm at wild they have races on the left so that run is taken, that one on far left can be fun if it's groomed well but it's pretty tight with little room for error and super short. I recall wishing the rest of the hill had less plateaus so it was steeper. Powder Ridge for the most part starts really steep and mellows out, it's kind of a big quarter pipe. Not all the runs are like that, but the good ones are, not a good place to learn to carve. If the double lift at PR on the left is running which it usually is during peak time nights/weekends it runs faster than the quad so you can skip out on a lot of the flat of the 'quarter pipe".
  6. I have Powerwraps in my RC10s. After a run or two I get pain in the arch of my foot and I need to rest my feet. I think what happens is the molded liner sinks into the groves on the inside of the UPZs and my foot isn't in the widest part of the boot anymore. So when you mold liners in UPZs I would by mindful that you are sinking into those grooves. I was planning to put some Bontex shims in and remold the liners but I haven't gotten around to it yet. It would be nice if I didn't get the arch pain. I find the RC10s to be laterally soft and I run the stiffest tongue which helps.
  7. I might be interested, where can I get some more info on the place?
  8. They've been making snow at Powder Ridge too, the first run they always open is Single Cedar and they have it merge into the bunny hill, but it's actually a good run for carving and usually not that busy. I used to always go first day when I lived closer.
  9. That is cool, definitely a major step up from the old air bags. Would probably get more interest than the current air bag that seems under whelming at Buck and sketchy with the near quarter pipe kicker.
  10. So much for that snow... Patti and I are headed to Lutsen this weekend, I'm only bringing skis. Powder Ridge is making snow.

I had a great time, for those who missed, it was a lot like this...

I just put the really stiff gray tongue back in this is my front boot. I used them tonight at Buck, I really miss the stiffer boot. The stiff tongues seem to make these cants or even if the back is locked in irrelevant.
  13. We start out of a starting house, the snow is a couple inches deep, not possible to put poles into the snow. Even in that video Justin is behind in the start and then makes it up. All I'm saying is compare your handicaps between different race hills where one has a very steep start and another that has a non-steep start. You will see lower snowboard handicaps when the start is steeper because you are at a less of a dis-advantage for not being able to skate and use poles. You're saying poles and skating provide no benefit, then why would they do it?

Anyone have an extra one of these for UPZs? Wonder how long I've been riding with that missing.
  15. I've noticed at hills with flatter starts (no poles/no skating on a board) = higher handicaps. Nothing to do with the Neveplast, just the reason why the hill now has less slope at the start.
  16. Only been out a few times but mines been up, they flattened out the start when putting in Neveplast
  17. 1-22-2017 Raced tonight, snow cone like conditions, couldn't really carve. Race course was alright, I had to ski out of the curse when I got to the knoll there was a guy tha crashed next to me and was walking up the hill, I couldn't see him until I got to the knoll. Did a rerun and I didn't tripped the wand, did another rerun, got my money's worth.

36 degrees the night before Is the forecast righ now, looks like it's going to be colder the next week. Probably kinda late to reschedule but it might be sketchy to be on a carve board this coming Wednesday.
  19. I went back last Sunday for ski challenge and it was a mess in the parking lot, I ended up parking on the street north of Buck. They had people kinda directing traffic but didn't look like they were really doing anything. Other times when it was that busy they helped you find and open spot, this guy was just flagging you into the parking lot. These warm days make me sad ;(
  20. Ate at the new Black Diamond restaurant, definitely recommend the Mexican menu over the American. Had the tamale of the day and the corn on the cob. Both were yummy, the corn was pretty spicy. Patti had the burrito bowl which she liked but a bit on the spicy side.
  21. 1/7/17 Typical mid season conditions, cold, hard packed and pretty fast. I guess when they were putting in the Nevaplast they lost some of the hill up to the right of start house on Milk Run, it's a little thinner up there now. They also lost some of the steepness coming outta the start house which makes being on a board more difficult than it already was.
  22. I'm gonna race NASTAR tomorrow evening, be the first time back on the GS board. Then racing ski challenge Sunday evening.
  23. That must have been the one for sale, looks like someone bought it somewhat recently. I remember seeing a sign with skier on it that said "Steeplechase" I didn't know there was an actual ski hill in Mazeppa and I've race my dirt bike down in that area a lot.
  24. The ad was for a ski hill in Wabasha, I assumed it was for Coffee Mill, but it might not have been. If I remember correctly, it was like $900,000. Tough to be a remote ski hill in MN, use to be Frontenac down there too.
