  1. I read that titanal contains no titanium, "The chemical composition of Titanal® in weight percent breaks down to approximately 88.5% aluminum, 1.7% copper, 2.5% magnesium, 7% zinc, and 0.1% zirconium" https://www.skiboardsonline.com/forums/showthread.php?t=5360
  2. I was looking at the current version of my skis (Blizzard Brahma) and it looks like they switch from using Titanium to Titanal I think this last year. What is really confusing is blizzard now calls it "Double Ti" and it is titanal, while "Ti" on the periodic table is Titanium... My skis, "TITANIUM FLIP CORE"
  3. I had to look through my credit card history, it was 405 in September, for some reason I was thinking it was more than that

    Welch

Patti, I and a few people from pierce are going to Welch Saturday. From looking at the forecast, I'll most likely be on Skis
  5. Buck season passes are on sale now for next year $390, thought I paid close to $500 last year when I bought one in August.
  6. I recall a guy who always wore all black with a red beard, kinda tall, but I haven't seen him at all this year or last year.
  7. I marked the 17th on my calendar. Carpool @bobble ?
  8. I learned the other week that the web cam on milk run can be tracked back 4 hours, there is a running timestamp on the top, thought I'd share
  9. 2/4/2018 evening Cold, my toes were freezing, snow was really good for carving. The moguls are still there.
  10. Patti said people were complaining there wasn't the big jumps this year, they are probably adding them back. I think there is some room they can squeeze in the air bag too...
  11. same, Bob pushed us out. great deep snow times at Buck, I was on skis.
  12. If you want real low torques, look for a beam style torque wrench https://www.amazon.com/Presa-CP31006-Tools-Torque-Wrench/dp/B00XKIIKOM/ref=sr_1_7?s=hi&ie=UTF8&qid=1516227398&sr=1-7&keywords=torque+wrench+dual+drive+beam

    MES 2018

Some of us have jobs =)
  15. Trent usually organizes MES, it’s often early February on a Wednesday at Afton Alps and it’s hoot :) Hopefully you can play hooky and come!
  16. I was out Sat and Sunday evening. Saturday was nice, cold and pretty quiet. Raced NASTAR Sunday was warmer and really crowded, I rarely have to stop carving when going down the hill but with the extra people from the warm weather and moguls there was no room. Was there really to just race at ski challenge
  17. I had to google Big Stone Lake MN, not familiar with the town. Looks like Andes Tower Hills near Alexandria is your closest ~1.5 hours. Andes, Buck, and Powder Ridge are all pretty comparable.
  18. icky, that must have been why there was so much extra snow there. That's the most moguls I think I've seen at buck and its right in the prime real estate where I like to ride =(
  19. 1/2/18 Fresh thin layer of real snow, felt a lot faster compared to last time I was out. Snow was great, a little rough from racers and I noticed there is a lot of snow on Crossroads compared to Milk Run. There is a spot about 3/4th the way up the hill where Crossroads must have 5 feet of more snow. It starts dropping off when you get close to the middle between the runs (where the lift is). I usually carve there a lot because that's where the good snow is still left but there's a bit of a drop off. At the bottom of my second run, when I was going straight to the lift I could lift my toe up... Running steps in, and the only thing I can think of was I didn't loop my toe in before I stepped in and did that whole run like that... ops.
  20. Come to Buck sometime and you can ride my MK =)
  21. I’ll come out in the morning for a bit I think. I’ll be out Day after Xmas too
  22. You at Buck over Lunch? I was out in the evening, you could really tell it thawed and froze. Lots of hard bumps where gates were set, made for some nice little jumps. The whole hill looked to be open minus the half pipe. The lifties on the far quad looked to be board out of their minds.
  23. 12/12/17 evening Too soft to carve on crossroads without risk of pole vaulting. Milk run was good, but they put up a course for the ski nerds. Between the gates and lift was good, but the skiers eventually pushed a bunch of soft snow to the edges where I would carve. Olympic was open but I think that was covered with the Buck hill ski team.
  24. I don't know if my UPZs took any of the punching I did since their made of such flimsy plastic. I find it interesting I moved the opposite way, from UPZs to Deeluxe. Out of the box I couldn't see anyone wanting to race with UPZs cause they are so soft. I did the same as you, the stiff gray tongues, power wraps which makes the boot perform much better. I don't think the stiffer cuffs do anything since all the flex comes from below the cuff. Whatever they have going on in the heel of the Deeluxe liner is weird, but I think I got my Deeluxes working pretty well although I've only been on the snow once with them so far.
  25. Snow was a bit soft for my liking but it was good, carvable. I think they could have the whole hill open by Saturday and it will probably be groomed pretty nicely.
