  1. Niiiice. I am sick of spinning, spinning, spinning. It is great that style is making a comeback. That first hit was awesome! The landings were so smooth! Thanks for posting the video link. And was that an old school Burton logo on the tip of his board? Well, it seems like "What's old is new" so I guess I should have saved my neon orange Gotcha jacket and Spyder tight pants!
  2. 25 years here. Although I barely ride once a year here in Minnesota and if I am lucky I get a Colorado trip once a year. I started in 1990 at Bridger Bowl in Montana on a rental Barfoot Twintip 151. The next year I got a Burton Performer Elite 140 with the fin in the middle. That thing had a convex base near the back and was a PITA to learn on because your rear end would want to rotate if you didn't stay on edge! And holy crap did those bindings suck! You can see me in my profile picture on my next board, that I still have. A Burton Air 165 I think. What a tank. We had the same issue here with most of the ski areas not allowing snowboards. I'm glad I took it up because it is definitely the most fun thing to do. Oh, and sorry hardbooters, I tried it and went back to softboot carving but at least I am using TD2 bases with the Bomber Power Plates:)
  3. I'm not a hardcore carver so I am sure someone else has a better explanation but it looks like they start to transition for the next turn while they are still locked into the turn. They probably starting shifting the weight but didn't shift it enough and didn't transition the edge so the carve threw their weight back. My $.02:)
  4. Yah, I watched the second one earlier and it is quite nuts, and obviously a few were set up. There part where he inverts and there is a hawk or something in the background looked fake, only because the odds of that are quite small, but since the whole thing looks real I guess it could be. But yah, overall that stuff is nuts and amazing.
  5. Dude, I don't have anymore envy left after watching that! Great video! Were all of the helicopter take-off and landings related to the number of runs you had? I like the cropping to create different camera views, especially the big blue helmet at the end. Heli-boarding is on my bucket list so you can understand my envy comment;)
  6. I don't ride a lot but I rode my Clickers with the Shimano boots and never had a problem. They never pre-released, which is what the recall is about, and if the rider actually flipped the lock there would be no way they could pre-release. I also never had any snow jamming problems because I knew you could not just jam your boot in an hope for the best. I little bang of your boot on your other boot and then a slight scrape of the bottom of the boot on the locking lever and you would get any snow out. I could then click in and ride. As an all-mountain rider I never had any issues with them. You definitely need the boots to fit well because they have the rest of the bindings in them. Personally I think it was the Switch bindings and the image that killed them. The Switch bindings definitely had more slop and I did not like them at all. Throw in the fact that none of the "cool" people were using them, some people complained about them jamming with snow, and the lack of boots to choose from and there you go. I don't board enough to spend that kind of dough on new stuff but it sure would be interesting to try them again. Now that I think about it though, I have read many posts on here about a Raichle hard boot that has a lot of flex so maybe it is a better idea to just find a comfy hard boot and use some Bomber plates:) That way you can ride all of your boards without having to change your boots and need a bunch of different gear.
  7. Throwback baby! Wow. That is truly amusing. I used the last version up to about 5 years ago when my boots fell apart. Personally, I loved them because they were always solid enough for me and I could click in on the lift if I really wanted to. I might need to buy them again with 2 pair of boots if I like them so I can use them when they discontinue them again:) I am sure everyone will complain about the same issues, "sloppy", "cannot click in", "not flexible enough", blah blah. Thanks for pointing these out. I wonder how well they will work with the Bomber Power Plates.

    MES 2015

It's been a while but I will be there representing the soft boot carvers:)
  9. That is the problem if you don't have anyone else to record you. Ski pole mount is the most common. Stick it in your backpack, hold it out, etc.. Sean @ Donek created a binding mount for an interesting view. There is a camera out there that will automatically follow you but then you have to leave it in the woods when you go by and get it later. Can you say, "Stolen"? If you can't get yourself on film the next most exciting thing for viewers is huge yard-sale wipeouts when you are carving;)
  10. I had an 86 Performer Elite with the optional fin;) I remember that it had a convex base near the tail. If you weren't on edge that thing would be squirrely on the groom. In fact, it was the board I had just before my big 164 Burton Air that I am riding in my avatar, that I still have;)
  11. And some killer binding strap pinch on those SIMS bindings;)
  12. The Clickers are back! Look at the toe and heel bails, if you want to call them bails. Those are straight up Clickers baby! Even the twist-to-lock feature is the same. Personally, I loved the Clickers for my riding. I was using them up until 3 years ago:) That is exactly why I bought TD-2 SI when I tried hardbooting, and I loved going back to step-ins. If you know what you are doing you can strap in pretty quick but I must agree, I love being able to click in and go. I never had a problem with snow-jams with my Clickers either. I would just scrape my boot on the twist-lock and click in. I also liked the super low profile and light weight of the bindings. Hmm. Makes me think I should try out a flexy hardboot setup and punt my straps.
  13. Dude, that is a lawsuit WAITING to happen. I can't believe the coach would be that dumb. Well, maybe I can.
  14. Agreed. You also cannot tell that the hills we have here in MN are quite small;) Did the return to Earth when your nose popped out hurt? I can feel the chatter on my shins just looking at that.
  15. Timeless is selling some of his BX stuff, here are just the Power Plates, http://www.bomberonline.com/VBulletin/showthread.php?39566-Bomber-Power-Plates
  16. Everything I read in regards to this, which you have probably read, is the Nidecker ACT are good. Rob's post said Mark likes Flows but the BX'er whom I rode against didn't like them. Too floppy. In the end I would probably hit Craigslist locally and find a few to kick around in and see what she thinks. I love my Nidecker Carbon 900 with Bomber Power Plates. I would highly recommend the Power Plates because it greatly reduces toe-out when you are carving hard.
  17. #1 is awesome! Nice lighting, most of the carve is visible, beautiful backdrop! I'm always envious of the folks who have mountains to play on:)
  18. That's hilarious. Although the cleavage is a little different:eek:
  19. Stupid Minne-no-longer-snow-ta.
  20. Damn. That was quite the article. Stuff like this just makes me try to enjoy life as much as I can because you never know what will happen. Thanks for the link.
  21. Dude, that's awesome. It is pretty cold here but no mountains = later openings and short runs:(

    Whooopsy!

It looks like he hit the frame of the bike that must have caused the rear to slide a bit and send him into the other lane? I guess he needed a little more clearance but at least he was smart enough to wear a helmet!

    Yo Lci!!

Those timelapses and pictures are awesome! I really like the 1st picture above of the cat tracks. We are easily a month away here in Minne-no-snow-ta so I'm jealous as usual of you mountain folk.
  24. Not on a Coiler but a Prior BX 163 http://forums.bomberonline.com/index.php?/topic/34477-2011-prior-bx-163/ . I will have more runs on it this season but I like it so far. Edited to fix the link.
  25. Yes, the Classifieds section here.
