  1. So I just picked up my first new board! I'm cheap and I usually buy used but this was on clearance from Prior because they ground the top of the nose base a bit too much. I cannot tell and I never grind my boards so I don't care. Anyway, I wanted to post some pictures and my initial impressions and comparisons to my 2000(?) Avalanche Damian Sanders Ice Rocket 159. The white spot on the nose in some of the pictures is from the flash, there are no blems on the board. 1. The board looks awesome. It has a matte topsheet with a cutout design in which you can see the carbon topsheet below:eplus2: The rise in the nose and tail is much less than the Rocket so the small amount of fakie riding might be even less now. I also have a feeling it won't be a great pow board but yes, I know, it is not desinged for that. However, it will probably be fine for the amount of powder I ride in. The base is pretty standard looking so nothing to report there. 2. I think my Rocket has a ~8m sidecut vs the 10/12 on the Prior BX so when placed back to back the Prior BX has a bit wider of a waist and definitely has more running surface and effective edge. The weight and thinkness is actually quite similar as seen in the below photos. 3. Stiffness wise it doesn't seem like a very stiff board. It feels like I can bend them both to the same degree with the same effort but nothing scientific here. 4. The weight of board is the big picture of the scale, 7.5 lbs. With the bindings it is about 15 lbs. 5. There is certainly less camber that my old Rocket so this should be interesting to see how it rides. I will be riding it for the first time this weekend so I will try and report on it a bit more after the ride. My setup; Prior BX 163 with Bomber Secret Plates and Nidecker Carbon 900 binders. Regular footed TD2 3 degree cants on orange elastomers @ 25/15 with 50/30 toe/inward & inward/heel lift. 90 being all toe or heel.
  2. It worked for me. Uh, interesting I guess. I'm not really sure why but I guess if I was bored enough and had some rock boards to ruin I might think about it. Nice cinematography though.
  3. Nice photos! Do you mind if I use some for my wallpaper on my PC?
  4. That's awesome. I should swing by the shop by me some time. I love the vintage stuff because it brings back memories. I still have my Burton Air 162 from 1990, Burton Asym Air from 1996, and Burton Air 5.0 from 1992. Unfortunately I sold my Burton Performer Elite 140 a long time ago.
  5. Aww yeah. Duck footed hardbooter! That seems painful.
  6. That is nice! Both the spread eagle and the resize:)
  7. Thanks everyone for the interest! I guess I bought the correct stuff because the bindings, boots and liners are sold pending payment.
  8. The boots are in fine working order. All of the buckles, velcro, forward lean, etc. work fine. The original liners supposedly are heat moldable but I never molded them. In regards to the footbed being moldable, I am not including a footbed. I have a pair of the Sole footbeds and I would recommend them but I wasn't going to include them since people usually want their own footbeds. I do have the original heels and I will include them. The shell is 26.0-28.5.
  9. Everything is sold pending payment. So I tried out carving and I liked it but not enough for me to keep my gear. Here in Minnesota I just don't get out enough and when I do I would rather ride my BX board. I bought all of this at the beginning of the 2010-11 season and it was all already used. I think I rode the gear 4 times and never molded anything, ran into anything, etc.. Click on all pictures for bigger ones, less than 1MB for the big ones. Original boots post - http://www.bomberonline.com/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=31458&highlight=head+stratos Head Stratos Pro with Intec heels. I didn't include a picture of the original heels but I am pretty sure I have them. - 26.5 - $200 w/Zipfit Liners, $175 without. - SOLD PENDING PAYMENT Original Zipfit post - http://www.bomberonline.com/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=32619&highlight=zipfit Zipfit liners - 26.5 - $25 - SOLD PENDING PAYMENT Original Burton Alp post - http://www.bomberonline.com/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=31292&highlight=burton Burton Alp 169 - $75 - SOLD PENDING PAYMENT Bomber TD-2 Step-ins NO CANTS - No broken or bent bails etc.. You will also receive the hardware in the picture. I am keeping the cants and the 4x4 discs because I use them on my BX board for my BSPs from Bomber. - $100 - SOLD PENDING PAYMENT All shipping is TBD and is up to the buyer to tell me how they want it shipped. I will ship them at cost, no markups here. I use the same ID on eBay as I do here so you can look me up there and see my 100% positive reviews. 10. I thought I would post a vid of me and my brother-in-law out on Dec 26th. He doesn't ski too much and is still learning how to do chase cam work but oh well. I posted it on here because I bought the Bomber Secret Plates and wrote a review. http://www.bomberonline.com/vbulletin/showthread.php?p=361250#post361250 <IFRAME height=305 src="http://player.vimeo.com/video/34746315?title=0&ampbyline=0&ampportrait=0" frameBorder=0 width=400 allowFullScreen mozallowfullscreen webkitAllowFullScreen></IFRAME>
  11. Great videos! I love the pole mount, I need to try that this season. Is that just a pole mount with a GoPro stuck to it? No steadicam thing? It was really smooth! As usual, watching those makes me wonder why I live in Minnesota.
  12. OMG. Sick. Abosolutely sick. I love the look on some of the spectators faces. Thanks for sharing!
  13. Nuts. Absolutely nuts. Some dudes must have died over the years. Having said that, the video was a thrill to watch!
  14. No snow guns? Or has it been to warm for the guns? We don't have any natural snow here in the Twin Cities area either. At least it is kind of warm.
  15. Steve, that was some fun stuff to watch:) I've been boarding for 20 years and I still can't do a 360! I was never much of a spinner but if you can do a 360 on a 210 in hard boots, I must be able to figure it out:) I can only imagine the looks and comments you got hitting the jumps and parks on that equipment! Awesome:biggthump
  16. Was that English? I lose perspective of how steep it is until he falls and starts sliding all of the way down. I'm with you though, why on earth would you try to stop a 400lb machine, or whatever they weigh, from stopping on its own? I'm sure there might be more damage incurred but you can fix the sled and it is already beat to he!l. Fun to watch though. Thanks for the post:)
  17. Wow. Awesome to hear. I can only imagine how scary something like that would be.
  18. I use "Maverick" for my Motorola Droid 2.2. It can use downloaded maps, not cached, that you can create from a few programs. I also upload to www.gobreadcrumbs.com when I am done so I can see max speed and share my tracks. Here is one, http://www.gobreadcrumbs.com/user/futahaguro/snowboarding/afton-alps-mn/afton-alps-mn-392011 , and the corresponding screen shot below. It says I went 35 MPH on the last run which sounds right because I do not go that fast and I am in Minnesota where there is not much of a hill to gain speed.</IMG>
  19. I didn't have any problems with my Class 4 32GB Kingston. I think brand over Class makes more of a difference. I know what you are talking about with the DSLR cards and speed though. One thing I did to save money was to get a card that I could also use in my DSLR so I could swap them. Not sure if you have an SD compatble DSLR though.
  20. Vimeo is blocked here at work but if you look up videos by Futahaguro you can see the ones I made with my Drift HD 170, non-stealth version. 1. A definite advantage is the video screen. I do find myself checking it occasionally to make sure things are working and to maybe watch a vid on the lift. I can just pop it off the mount and view it really quick. 2. You will need the bigger battery. Cold temps shorten the life and it is best to have a backup. 3. I like the ability to rotate the lens to make sure it is at the correct angle. 4. The water resistance seems to work. I have bailed into the snow with it many times and it hasn't had a problem yet. 5. The size is okay. I still think I would like the POV system better because it is smaller but then I would have a cable going into my jacket and stuck to my head. Don't bother with the goggle mount. The camer is too heavy and it bounces around. The helmet mount is the best and it is nice and smooth because you head is staying stable most of the time. It is also very easy to hold it in your hand and get some different angles. 6. The remote works great. Even when it is on my helmet I can hear the different beep sounds when I start or stop things. I just attach the remote on the outside of my jacket and even with my gloves on I can activate it. 7. Microphone? Well, it sucks when you are riding:) All wind noise. You could probably find a way to fix that but I never bothered. 8. It uses SD cards so storage capacity is a non-issue. Just keep a few spares if you don't want to get a big one. 9. The night mode doesn't work that well but I doubt any of them do. Small lenses just cannot capture that much light. The camera feature is fine but I never use it. There is no loop mode like the POV so if you forget to turn it on, you're screwed. Overall I like it. My $.03 (inflation)
  21. That video was insane. To think about where you might run to take shelter only to slowly realize that your building might be lifted up and washed away? Yikes. I also saw the NY Times article showing the before and after sattellite photos of some of the coastal cities and it is along these lines, . Terrible, just terrible.
