  1. Oh my. Yah, those were the days. Those early race runs sure were bumpy!
  2. Can someone explain to me why you need 2 canting discs, or in the post that I think is a joke, 6?? Maybe I missed the thread. It must weigh a ton!
  3. It's fun! I just started 3 years ago, but have not gotten out much. You can probably find some used kiting equipment on Craigslist near your residence but I would strongly suggest getting some lessons first. If there is not much up by you I am sure you could hit someone up when you go to Colorado for the trenching sessions. If I remember correctly you do go there, don't you? Anyway, for me I started because my small local ski areas were kind of boring and took 45 minutes to drive to. With a kite I can drive 10 minutes to a local lake and have fun! If you have some step in bindings it would make snowkiting with a snowboard that much easier, however I would find a twintip until you get good at kiting so you can do toeside all of the time:)
  4. Interesting. It sounds like good and bad news I guess. My first question is whether it has an effect on the river discharge downstream. I cannot imagine that anyone would let them siphon from the river if it had a major effect downstream. I like the idea of making Spirit, and the area below it, more of a draw for things other than downhill but if it keeps raising the price I wonder if that will effect the amount of people that go? I don't board much right now so it doesn't matter to me but my daughter is 8 months old so she should be carving in a few seasons and I always like Spirit Mountain.
  5. Two of my favorite things! Although I am more of a snowkiter at the moment.
  6. I just want to give a kudos and thanks to Scrapster! The bindings arrived nicely packaged and are in great shape!
  7. Hmm, I cannot edit my post. Oh well, here you go, http://forums.bomberonline.com/index.php?/topic/32222-new-new-board-porn-2012/page-24?hl=%2Bprior+%2Bfutahaguro#entry358443 .
  8. The second board kit looks a little different than TD2 and TD3 mounts but only in that it doesn't have a wider base like those do. I run TD2 mounts and there are other people on here that run the same thing. The bindings are attached directly to the board.
  9. 54?? Nice! I'm 39 and haven't skated since the late 80's but at least I can look forward to skating like you when my daughter grows up:) She is 8 months at the moment and I hope to get her into skating/snowboarding:)
  10. Those are some classics! Not the real classics that can fetch top dollar but they are getting there:) I wish I had saved a few more of my old boards.
  11. Hmm, I will PM him but he has been good about responding to me. Did you send him a PM?
  12. Well, I guess I will throw in an FYI in regards to posting pictures. FYI, many external photo sites are blocked by corporate firewalls, gee I wonder how I know:), but the BOL images show up just fine! This is a good point that I had not even considered. Another reason to stay within the BOL sites framework. Thoughtful of others bored at work :)
  13. Tearin' it up! Nice fakie transitions!
  14. So I searched the forums and did not see this post so I thought it should be posted Man it is funny to look back at things as we get older. I love the Sorel boots and all of the neon! Check out my profile picture and you will see where I am coming from:)
  15. I took the bindings:) I got tired of flipping my Carbon 900s between the boards.
  16. Not sure what Smilin'Dave wants but I will take the bindings if he doesn't.
  17. Just a quick video compilation of some runs.

Here is my quick, not very exciting video compilation.
  19. That's you in the red, right?;) Both of you have a nice and smooth style. I bet he was excited to be boarding because if I know my geography it is a little difficult to snowboard in Nicaragua. I wish I had some mountains up here in Minne-no-snow-ta because that looks fun!
  20. I cannot see the video. If other people can see it then it is probably my firewall at work, however YouTube and Vimeo work fine. I want to see some soft boot carving;)
  21. Oops, I missed the picture:) Put then again I'm not a hardbooter anyway, just an impostor.
  22. What angles to you run and do you have cant/lift plates? I was out yesterday on my Prior BX 163 with TD2 3 degree canting discs (all toe lift in front and heel lift in back) and Bomber Power Plates (25/20) but I kept booting out on the heel side. I guess I should also ask your boot size, board width and whether you think your boots look like they are at all close to the edge. Thanks.

I had a great time also! I'm not sure when others left but I bailed at 3 PM. I was on Chair 2 for the last few runs and there was about 3 people on the lift on none of them were on the run:) I can attest to the snow not being soft. My left butt cheek is sore from booting out on my backside 4-5 times:) I have some video from my camera that I will try to compile as quickly as I can but I have a bunch of other stuff to do. Thanks for setting this up Trent and nice seeing and meeting everyone! That camera view is definitely an interesting one! P.s. I was the one with the full face white helmet on the Prior BX with soft boots.
  24. I'm bored so I will dig up this thread:) I'm not a hard core carver or kiter but I can lay out some fine S turns on the hill and I would say that it is possible on the kite as well. I usually kite on the lakes up here in the winter and once you get used to it you can easily lay a C turn by having the kite nice and low when you make the turn. This way the force is being applied more on the horizontal plane than the vertical plane, which would lift you instead of pull to the side. Many people do not ride frontside when kiting because the kite is almost behind where your toes are pointing if you ride with shallow angles. However, it is actually fun to ride like this and will give you a great chance to carve a backside turn. For example, if I were riding my frontside edge the wind would probably be to my right if I am looking over the nose of the board. Once I decide to reverse my direction, tack or gybe, I would give the kite a hard 180 turn so it is flying in the opposite direction and then I would begin my backside transition and carve hard to make the 180 turn and follow the kite. Now, the S turn would be much harder because you would need a really fast turning kite, and probably a good amount of wind, in order to carve both directions in quick succession. Hopefully this makes some sense.
