  1. Correct! Great carving mountain! There are 10 of us on any day. Great off piste if you're willing to go for a little hike at Happo and 2 amazing powder mountains close by!
  2. Erm... Hakuba is my home town. Welcome to come to Happo One :) The biggest and best mountain in Japan!
  3. Well I'm getting a gstyle strap for my hardboots and going to move my RCR ratchet booster strap thing to my drivers. Should be good.
  4. Why can't (at least upper range) boots just come with good liners? Waduhek
  5. Just checked their marketing material they come with a powerup tongue. But it doesn't come with any additional plastic insert. Maybe it's incorporated permanently into the tongue? I don't know. My ones from 2010 didn't have this either actually. I'll be throwing the hardest Palau overlaps in them, though, the liner is really nothing to write home about.
  6. They don't come with that anymore. I just bought their most recent version. Either that or I'm missing something. In saying that, they're hella stiff
  7. New tankers coming out soon right? I'm going to finally get a 187 if that's the case..
  8. No idea, but I have a V2 and love it. But I don't think a cut down V1 = V2. I have an idea ... since JJA was involved in the development, why not just ask him? He's not too busy at the moment, maybe just send him an email.
  9. JJA exhaustively researched it with the Canadian program... I vote to leave it.
  10. I'm a huge plate fan, I would get the inserts for future flexibility (And to enter a more liquid second hand market once the time to sell comes). But that's just me and I know literally nothing about anything :D
  11. Sometimes that's the best indicator!! Well if you like to push it to the speed limit the metal board is the way to go. Harder to bend and good to have thighs of steel!
  12. Still love this gif after watching it 594 times.
  13. Ah. Now it makes sense. I've seen so many people carving like this in Japan. With 0 tail, super setback powder boards and then carving groomers really well. Didn't know this was a thing I thought these guys just brought out the wrong board that day.
  14. That sounds awesome. Did you get the optional Allflex inserts? May I what made you decide on SG and not Kessler, Oxess or F2?
  15. I've sprained my ankle severely twice in my, what I consider to be, perfectly fitting UPZ. I'm still confused as to why/how it happened though. Too much movement in the shell? I really don't know still.
  16. I think you'll just have to replace the rear bail and the heel.
  17. How coy... I'm strangely intrigued.
  18. Thanks for all the contribution / help in this thread so far, it has really helped!
  19. Ah this is good to know. Actually, I personally already unbuckle my boots at the end of each run. It might be my OCD kicking in but I think if I don't keep them compressed for the entire day (unbuckling at the bottom of each run means I leave them unbuckled maybe 60-70% of the time), then the liner will last longer. I also found that years ago, before I had Palau liners, the liners would pack out slightly through the day and I'd have to retighten my boots. That was on softboots though. They definitely sound durable. Also, I'm already in the upper limit of the Shell C in .951, so I'm going to roll with those. Yeah there is definitely some angle on that UPZ ramp! Interesting, something I'll make my bootfitter aware of. I feel the same when I look at my UPZ stock liners, that's why I promptly swapped them out for Palau overlaps. Wew so nice. Great, exactly what I want to hear Surefoot seem to have great reviews, I'll see if I can look into sourcing for these or Sidas. I have a feeling my bootfitter uses Sidas, since my custom footbeds were Sidas also. I've read some less than favourable reviews about recent zipfit's. Not sure if it's a thing or not, but I'll try to get Sidas or possibly Surefoot ones I think.
  20. Is softboot carving a thing in the US? As in, are people (apart from Shred) actually buying dedicated softboot carving boards and then competenly carving on them? I only ride in Asia and it's huge here...
  21. Interesting experience! Good to know. Thanks. I never knew UPZ did foam injected liners, though... I didn't even try with my stock UPZ, they were too wrong for my particular foot. Sounds like you've had a good experience with Surefoot. Thanks for sharing that.
