  1. Ah got it. The "Institut for Forschung und Entwicklung von Sportgeraeten" - the Institute for Research and Development of Sport Equipment And apparently they have one simple goal: to ensure that no German Olympic athlete is ever beaten because of inferior equipment. https://www.reuters.com/article/olympics-germany-equipment/feature-olympics-german-engineering-key-ingredient-for-games-success-idUSL5N0L23BI20140128
  2. FES. That's the one. Time for some detective work... Anyone speak German? So much mention of FES, so little understanding... http://www.dosb.de/fileadmin/fm-dosb/arbeitsfelder/leistungssport/Veranstaltungen/Bundestrainer-Seminare/2014/SCHAALE_FES_Forum_Material_BTK2014.pdf
  3. Right. So he didn't get robbed, then. He missed putting his hand through the sensor. Well, I'm sure his upcoming training will fix his mistake for next time.
  4. This is an internet forum. This is where trolls live. If you jump in puddles of water you're going to get wet feet... Just got to embrace it.
  5. You mean you wouldn't even do ski ballet? https://youtu.be/fvk4PpFORD4
  6. She competed in many world cup skiing events. I think the coaches knew who she was. She is ranked reasonably well in skiing, also. Not sure the exact number.
  7. Either way they should be doing two runs to be fair, whether it be on the same course or parallel courses. Really don't know what they were thinking. Seemed liked red needed to make a small error for blue to win on a perfect run. If both were perfect, red was clearly faster. There was one turn on blue which seemed slightly more downhill and racers seemed to either overshoot it into the next turn or slow down for it. Then again I don't know much so someone may have a better idea.
  8. I think because the event is parallel giant slalom, not giant slalom. If speed events you meanAlpine skiing, then that is run over 2 runs on the same course I think with the second run being in reverse order to alleviate any sort of advantage gained due to course degradation. I think, not exactly sure though. Someone might know better.
  9. Um... Everyone who proceeded had won their previous run, so someone had to run on blue, and the higher qualifier got to choose. So the gold medals were essentially decided from the qualifying round (where they had to run blue and red).
  10. Gray, Moss, BC and SG softboot carving boards are all a thing here. Mainly Gray and SG though. In general softboot carving is a pretty big thing here. Seems like it's a lot more popular than last year, lots of people trying to do it and failing repeatedly and then picking themselves back up and trying again until they get it (aka learning...). And there are definitely more than a few decent softboot carvers here. A lot of the guys even on swallowtails can carve exceptionally well. After speaking with a couple of the dudes here they think for a metal board the desperado ti (will ask about type r on Monday. Same length has 20cm extra effective edge compared to non type r) is the way and for non metal one of the SG boards is the way to go. Apparently Moss are quite flexible. I still think the new 166 desperado type r looks pretty sweet for myself. Are flow nx2-gt and driver x boots still the thing to get? Just grabbed a set of gecko frees to throw on it. Been spoilt by the apex race V2 on the Kessler so want to dampen the ride as much as possible =D
  11. This system looks pretty good and addresses some shortcomings of bts
  12. Agree re alpine snowboarding going away =/
  13. Proud to be a skier also.
  14. That's why for the first time ever (and twice at that) the best qualifying time won gold. I think most agree it was kinda dumb.
  15. Right. Those are nice buckles. Very gold. I just replaced 2 of my rear boot buckles on my upz with the updated model because the old ones were rubbing. Goodbye $$$.
  16. The best thing you can do to avoid shipping costs is to ship it to your accommodation in Japan. They do that sort of thing. Come here and ride and take it home =D
  17. Think ester's had gold buckles... Nevin's I think are the same ones he always uses? I think they have some sort of replacement tongue. That's as far as my knowledge extends. I'm not useful, I know.
  18. See the things above the top mounts? I think those are what I'm referring to... What are those? Also that logo above the top binding I saw a few with that. Anyone identify that? Still not sure it is an allflex.
  19. I really want to pick up a pair of these to try but I have a perfectly custom fitted pair of upz with a rear leg intec heel. First World Problems I tells ya...
  20. Can you link me that photo? I can't seem to find it. I believe the actual plate looked very similar or same as to allflex but the mounts were completely different. But if you have that link I can definitely confirm that... So I can then sleep at night :) A lot of Oxess boards I noticed. I wonder if there is much between Kessler Oxess SG and F2 in terms of performance. As in.. To regular people.
  21. Yeah did that. It's definitely not that one. Hmmm..
  22. Galmarini has always ridden deeluxe I believe.
  23. Wanting to try a pair of these. Anyone got a set they want to offload? Wanting 6degree discs only and hard elastomers I have a Coiler Nirvana 178 VCam with 19cm waist for someone 80kg +- 10kg, that's collecting dust. Used 20 or so times max. If you pay shipping, I'm happy to straight trade.
