let me know when you will be there. there is a chance I might be there too - there isnt many carvers there. I meet usually just a handful of people on hardboots. this year the turbo week is from 06.01 until 14.01 see more details here: http://www.valdisole.net/EN/Turbo-Holiday/ this is the hotel that I stay at usually : http://www.valdisole.net/EN/Hotel-HOTEL-FANTELLI/?TB=1 they are located just opposite side of the road from the slope.

Hi Derek, I am usually there every year in January, but never seen a rental place for hard boards or boots in Pinzolo or Madonna di Campiglio, Folgarida and Marilleva are also out of bounds. I usually do the Turbo week ( second week of January) which has a discount on the skipass) I would talk to Jacopo Dotti (www.carvers.it) or Mario Amodio : SG SNOWBOARDS – Mobile Testcenter: Based in Ovindoli Monte Magnola and occasionally in other Italian ski resorts, ph +39 335 579 46 95 You could probably get a board shipped directly to the hotel and than send it back.
  4. i guess it depends largely on the person and what they want out of their riding - its not really about being superior or not. One person wants to just stand up and ride Other wants to fly from turn to turn, be close to snow and pursue that adrenaline rush and bliss of emptiness of mind during a ride.... there is no other sport that helps me clear my mind better than hardbooting.
  5. I heard once from a fellow snowboarder - "you ride in those hard boots, it looks very easy to do - I am pretty sure that I can master that in a day..." Agree with BlueB - most of the people riding snb on my local hill, are not interested in pursing: high tech skill, where all details matter riding a board that they consider very expensive and difficult to get riding boots which connect immediately in their minds with word "uncomfortable" (usually followed by : when walking ;P) it takes a lot of time ,stubbornness ,self motivation and persistence to get into that perfect line and position putting this into economic terms : barriers of entry and trade offs needed to be good at carving, are usually to much to bother with for most people.
  6. Carving is "simple and boring" ... i see a storm coming here :P
  7. You know you want one Bryan! ;p
  8. Hi All, need to pick your brains: I just got myself a Vist plate 07. I see there is a special hole for additional screw, which is in the middle of the side rail of the plate ( see pic) is it absolutely necessary to have this screw in the board? Heeelp! cheers
  9. hi all, boards looking for new home. SG Full Race - 163 pro team - bought it brand new in 2014. Came with Sigi signature. This year I had Justin Rieter sign it and Sylvain dufour during SG camp. Board is great shape - $400 plus shipping SG Full Race 170 - bought last season - 5 days on snow. sharpened once - $600 plus shipping Paypal possible, shipping worldwide. Forgot to add - boards are located in Poland
  10. When you look at them the 14 plate looks little more assymetrical? When I spoke to the guys at SG camp they told me there is no difference, albeit as rightly noted most racers use vist 07
  11. is RC11 missing from the catalogue? http://xyz-net.seesaa.net/article/448575404.html or is that next next season?
  12. There is many more carving plug ins Have a watch and follow the lead on the Japanese. Completely different riding style. Really really like it. That Sigi video is part of Installer 11. Nevin has a great part on that video as well but can't find it on tube.
  13. if this ain't no joke I am interested in madd158 and cateks. Cheers

bottom picture - is there any plate under bindings or are my eyes fooling me?
  16. Lonboarding So you basically set the up the way you see on the picture. Arrows downward And just out of curiosity - which tongues do you use ?
  17. All right ladies nad gentlemen, I would like all UPZ users to chime in with regards to how do you set up your boot cant on the canting adjusters. I got a feeling that if you set them up on the same position on both sides, you will just change slightly the position of the hinge instead of changing the canting. Any clues ? All feedback appreciated.

hi laxmack I sent a board last year to Milwaukee for $130 - I guess it would be similar there is a couple of scratches from normal use, there is no delam or other deffects. can send some more pics if you wish.
  20. @nils what is the distance from the top of toe piece until the end of the heel piece where bails go? I am curious how they compare to UPZ. cheers
  21. I never manage to set up that center line on center of the binding. If I did that I would end up with front toe bail max to the front while the rear bail somewhere in the middle. On DrKimcarving blog Kim mentions that he uses bindings of SG front bail in L position while back bail in S positon to allow for centering. (http://m.blog.naver.com/kimcarving/220930777759 I know it is in korean but you can use translate.google.com) I have UPZ Rc10 shell 312mm and F2 Race M-size/ SG bindings in small size. I ride 60/55 degrees - If I put my toes of rear leg over the frontside edge - I end up with approximately 1 cm off center towards heel side. On the front foot even more, due to the fact that I want my heel directly over the edge. I dont know if this ok to do, but I have been riding comfortably like this
