  1. When carvers go out and make turns thinking they have the right of way and don't check up hill all the time? Well that's just extremely stupid. Assuming all other traffic will just pull over for you is also stupid. Its like people using crosswalks without looking because they think they have the right of way. Take some responsibility and check up hill for gods sake. Carvers have the responsibility to look out for traffic behind them. Hope nobody gets hit today.

  4. If it wernt for Sidewinders I wouldnt be using Dalbellos. Im leaving them just the way they are for now. Thanks for all the input. Any normal ski boot should be compatible with Bombers.
  5. This is a standard width and a good deal. They dont make 168's anymore. Cant go wrong with this one.
  6. I started on ski boots and went back to these 2 yrs ago. I like the power from ski boots. They dont collapse or break down. The fit from these are near perfect. I get all the power I need from these. I get more progressive forward flex in these than new Deluxes. Unless its warm out, there isnt much rearward flex unless I loosen the top buckle and use the Booster strap (which works well). My only complaint is the loss of mobility especially laterally. When the boots are tightened, my binding/angles have to be right on or I feel out of whack. But isnt that carve gear in a nutshell. I have not modified these at all except for removing the flex adjusting shim in the back/inside of the boot. Looks like they are fine they way they are I guess. If I could modify them at all I would want to increase lateral flex if possible. Yeah, ski boots are less versetile than Snowboard specific boots, but if its anything less than stellar carving conditions I'd be on softies anyhow.

  12. Interesting topic. Ive been wondering for years why USSA falls so short of their duties in supporting snowboarding in general. They dont excactly make it easy for an aspiring racer to achieve goals. Canadian Snowboarding is a great example of how USSA should be doing it! I did one Canadian event a few years ago and it was a great experience. And, ever since they have been inviting me to upcoming events, and making the process easy by the way. USSA does not. How about more regional events? How about making the jump from USASA to USSA more achievable? Its prohibitively expensive. How about enabling aspiring racers to actually have a chance to race more? USSA could be innovative in getting more people to race. I dont see many US alpine riders in WC results other than the bottom of the page. WHY? Is alpine snowboarding now an Austrian dominated sport? What about the United States? Didnt we kind of invent this sport? Cheers to Trappy and Tyler for their efforts though. I wish I was able to ride like that. I know there are some sick riders out there. But, like in SBX, most dont have the money to get to races out west. There just arent any SBX or alpine races on the east coast. We need more legit competitions on the east coast. And Im not talking about USASA stuff either. Ive always had my grumblings about USSA. I think they suck. Go Canada Snowboarding!

  17. This looks like one of the best deals on the board right now Jack. And, I really do need a slalom board. In fact I need this one. Ill be on Haywire Sunday setting the course. Come down and take a test run if you want.
  18. Classic boot bang. I used to get it when I rode full time. Same area. It would come and go. And would sometimes really hurt especially in a crash or chatter situation. Sometimes the only thing I could do about it was just to give it a break. My other method was simply to switch to soft boots for a couple of days until that caused soreness it its own spot just below the alpine one. I found some foam rubber inserts/shims for liner tounges. You could set them around your calves as well. They could attach anywhere around your lower leg and seemed to work quite well. I cant remember what they were called. You could back off the foreward lean in that boot or shorten your stance a little. Or try using a 3 degree cant angled back to match your binding angle to take the pressure off.
  19. Interesting topic. Im not sure if it really matters which side is in the right or wrong here. Im more concerned with the fact that there is an atmosphere at resorts everywhere now (seems like its more prevalent in CO) of "authorities" out there on the mountain staking out areas often with multiple individuals acting like ski deputies. These individuals will patrol an area on the mountain deciding who and who not to "pull over", detain and assert thier idea of what is safe or not. Often this tends to discriminate against snowboarders. Especially freestyle snowboarders. The kind of snowboarder that many on BOL would call "jibsters" "jibbers" "park rats" and other sorts of lables. Newsflash! Hey, were all on plastic gear sliding on snow down a hill! Were all pretty silly if you ask me. And, to any non slider, were all in the same category. It just really seems to take away from my fun factor when I have to worry if an authority will decide if I am going too fast. Most of the time those people dont really know what too fast is. Or, if a skier/rider is really in control or not. Maybe in this video the host was intimidated by the riders outfit or the size of his mittens. Either way, that kind of situation, (when a kid gets interrogated by 2 or 3 patrolers is just plain lame). Yes, every resort has slow zones for everybodys safety. And we all should respect those zones, especially alpine riders. But it seems like its gotten a little out of hand. Remember the video of Fin getting a ticket? Now thats ridiculous! It seems like its a little more out of hand at western resorts, especially in CO. Maybe its because there have been more publicized accidents that resulted in legal reprocussions in CO. Was it like this 15 or 20 years ago? Heck, the whole helmet hysteria hadnt even started back then. At what point did mountain hosts and patrollers become more like little mountain deputies pulling people over, writing tickets, interrogating, threatening and being jerks? I was riding the lift the other day with a patroller. He looked at my Bomber bindings and asked; Are those releasable bindings? and then, at the end of our awkward lift ride chided, "be careful on that thing". I didnt know what to say other than the word PUTZ under my breath.
  20. The new Skyline lift is pretty nice though Jack. My new favorite lift. I have to say that despite the lack of natural snow, Sugarloaf has good conditions.
  21. WOW! I mean, WOW!!!! Im not sure what I would have done If that was me getting told to shut the **** up. But those two kids handled it well to say the least. If I had a season pass, I guess I would have gone to management immediately. However, If I had a day pass I would have punched him in the mouth and broke his poles. Then I would have taken the blue dudes skis home with me. *******s! Thats just too far. And let me vent that Ive seen this first hand as a snowboarder. I'd be following a fellow skier and I would always get yelled at and not the skier. Just got an adrenaline burst from watching that.
  22. After the best slalom run of my life, the last rider in the running order kicked my butt. They were on a MADD 58.
  23. While ripping toeside just check uphill for a moment. Then proceed with more ripping without impunity. Repeat.
