  1. Sean, what about installing the UHM pattern inserts and using a plate? Why not glue and screw it and then use the UHM/plate?
  2. OK. I delaminated my SG last season while using my TD3's w/o any plates or protectors or any other device (that shouldnt be neccesary). The area of delamination is around the front binding inserts. It is just the area around that spot and no more. If I mount my bindings tight, the bindings are loose. Obviously the titanal sandwich has split apart. Well, I plan to repair and use this board! I refuse to let a $1500 titanal sandwich go to waste. Ive thought about ways to repair this thing all summer and have some ideas of my own but would love to hear some thoughts from the experts out there. My first idea was to through bolt into shop inserts (through my VIST plate) that will be counter sunk into the base in the front area of the board using the plate as a template. This would utilize the vist as a repair plate (which is all I think its good for). The other idea is to use a series of smaller stainless screws and epoxy and a stainless plate much like that of the vist. I could even just use the plate from the vist to do this. The other is to install insersts in the UHM pattern and use a new plate system. Here is a photo of the damage. It doesnt look like much but the board is split like a bad sandwich. I must add that I have already corresponded with Sigi and he has not given me an answer yet (its been 6 months). They say its the bindings and the bindings say its the board. Either way, I would not advise using these boards without plates!
  3. Were going to be putting on some race clinics next season at Sunday River. We hope to expand to regular training depending on interest and how the mountain treats us. USASA based and open to everyone. We hope to attract some young riders interested in racing. More info to come later.
  4. What if he was on his race board and his binding broke and then he hit the patroller?
  5. In this small and outspoken community of hardbooters there should not be any distrust when conducting used gear transactions. I would not sell a board to another person without disclosing details of the condition of the equipment. I would expect the same from others as well. Buyer beware, seller be honest. I think metal boards wear out fast and break too easy. Therefore making them a bad idea to purchase used unless you know exactly how much they have been ridden. I always have my 5 and 6 year old Doneks that have taken a beating and ride better than ever.
  6. BUYER BEWARE! Before you purchase a used board, make sure the seller discloses any damage and or missing edge life. Especially if you are interested in a board being sold by racers. If you cant see the board in person, then request clear photos of ALL the edges without wax on them. I have purchased two used race boards this season with excessive edge material missing. Im talking ALOT of edge missing. Not enough edge left to work with kind of missing. ANY racer selling a used board should disclose just how much edge is left and honestly disclose just how much use the board has had. I think that TEAM RACERS had better smarten up before they start unloading beat up crap boards to BOL members! <!-- / message -->

  8. Ill trade you my regular TD3's?
  9. You will find 99% of the folks here on Bomber on line are polite people in every way, most are in fact not dangerous down hill "bombers" as the BOL name suggests. Many alpine carving devotees are former or part time skiers, they are for the most part a very classy demographic that ski resorts love to cater too, the majority of which are middle to upper middle class people in their 30's to late 50's, ( with kid's ) and definitely NOT the typical stereotype of a teen hoodlum or ruff neck heavy drinking pot smoking selfish low intelligence dangerous street thug snowboarder .:p This was wonderful. I love to read loads of crap like this. I think the term "total squares" was not included. Perhaps it should be.
  10. Did anyone purchase a metal race board this season that they are not quite happy with? And possibly want to sell? For a song? I delaminated my SG and need to get on a new board asap. I just want it to be newschool metal construction, 185 or so and made by Sigi Kessler Donek or Prior. I would like to be on my new board by next week if possible. If you are thinking of going to Stratton let me know and Ill be there Monday at lunch. Thanks

My front foot came loose and almost ripped out of my SG ftr85 today. They could hear me swearing in Vt. Definate delam. No VIST plate. SW binding. Now I need a new board. What now?
  12. Thanks Mike. I was thinking of getting flexon comps which are now called FullTilt as Im sure you already know that. I had a hard time finding them for cheap or used. New ones are out there though. You can get em for less than 500. Im not sure fulltilts would be too much different. The old style buckles on them turned me away. They used to suck back then and Im sure theyll suck now. The buckles on Kryptons are great and that sold me.
  13. Looks like there will be a few of us. Nice. I also have a couple buddies coming on sunday as well. Spread the word! 9am Spillway!
  14. I would like a metal sabre please. 164cm with a 262mm waist. 12m sidecut. Black. Thanks. As soon as Donek makes one I'll buy 2!
  15. Dont worry. It'll ride fine. Alot of riders use 1.5. If you keep filing at your base bevels they eventually increase anyhow. The board will ride "fishier" Try it before you go changing it.
  16. Mike, I just bought Krypton Cross boots. Same as yours but black 90 flex. Should I even work with these or stick to Deluxe? What do you think? You could save me from wasting my time with these things so your input would be valuable. Thanks.
  17. Hope to see some sick trenches on Spillway. You know, the kind that intermediate skiers lose their ski in while terminally snowplowing straight down the hill.
  18. Alpine setups would have prevailed yesterday. However. They have been driven out of sbx. They do not want them in there for many reasons. First. They dont like hardbooters mixing it up with the rest. Second. Its looks funny on tv. Third. There is an agreement amoung sbx'ers to use the same gear. Just like the agreement amoung them not to sport speed suits. Fashion plays a role in this equation. If you observe most of the crashes that occured yesterday, you will notice that most of them happened during toeside turns. Those guys would "break at the waist", pressure the front foot too much, loose pressure on the back foot and spinout. Most mistakes were just toeside spinouts. Look at Seth's time trial. Notice Nate in the final ect. ****, I just blew a race on Sat and Sun doing the same thing on softboots! I really believe that raceboards would have kicked ass in those conditions. But they are not welcome in sbx. Yes, you can use one but not without getting **** for it. USASA doesnt want them either. They must have rounded tails in order to be "legal". Ok thats fine for saftey but what about skierX? Rounded pole tips? Either way, the best riders have the ability to rock both setups. Graham started as a racer and he can rock both. Remember Jeep King of the Mountain. They switched to soft boot format for TV quality.
  19. Do you mean ankle fractures like broken ankles or cracked boots? What is your verdict on using this type of boot for racing? I notice Matt Morrison and Mike Lambert use Dalbello and Full Tilt boots. These guys are doing quite well this season. I think Anton still uses Flexon Comp boots as well.
  20. Chris deserves more regognition than he has gotten. I feel like writing USSA a letter to ask for my money back for all the years Ive paid for membership dues. I really think they are a bunch of elitist tightwads. This story only proves that they are. Chris has represented, and deserves to be recognized at a higher level. USSA should take care of their own. But it is obvious that they have not!. Canada Snowboarding takes care of their own and it shows! They actually invite competitors like myself to events and make it quite easy to register and participate. The USSA needs to revamp and reform their snowboarding faculty from the top down. How about starting with Bill? I could go on, yes, I will. My racing friends and I have learned that US Snowboarding has created a sort of exclusive club of elite racers. We believe that they could make the "pipeline" to success much more steamlined if they wanted to. But they dont. Therefore, we see alot of potential stars burn out in the process. Not enough money and not enough chances for the local kid to reach his or her potential. And yes, USASA has definately picked up the slack in this department. Thanks USASA. We find that young riders have a hard time making the jump from the local USASA series to the next level. Not enough events in each region. Not enough chances to make successful bids. We have found that it is prohibitively expensive to make these bids as each trip costs in excess of $1500.00. If the USSA really wanted to create a truly competitive US field, they would do much more for aspiring athletes by holding more events in each region more often for less money with incentives that attract more talent. Why is it that Chris and Tyler are the only Olympic contenders in PGS from the nation where snowboarding was (arguably) invented? The rest of our US riders are surely capable of rising higher in FIS rankings. We think that they have not been given the tools to do so. These being a multitude of basic services that would allow them to reach their goals without having to sacrifice and go broke in the process. An aspiring international athlete should not have to go into debt in the process of reaching these goals. Rant over. Rip it up.
  21. Didnt realize saturday feb20 was a black out day. Sunday would be great. I have maine series race @ Saddleback on the 20th anyhow. By the way. Anyone who is interested should come over to Saddleback for this. Its a GS in the moring and SL after lunch. Total cost with ticket included is about $45. Not a bad deal. Everone is welcome, USASA needs more participants in these events. This works out well though. Ill just come over to the Loaf Saturday eve and be on Spillway @ 9 am Sunday.
  22. Go to Full Tilt boots online. They sell each and every part for their boots. Fortunately, Dalbello boots are very similar to FullTilts and I think the cable is the same. Or at least you can modify it.
  23. All you freestyling softbooters stay away from BOL. This is for middle aged folks who like to carve with alpine gear. You softies can go to SOL for your bloggatory remarks. Softbooters are different. They use soft boots that look like they should be on the moon. And their bindings have funny straps made of rubber bands. I dont like those studded leather belts either. Dont even get me started bout those 360 and 725's. Is nothing sacred?
  24. Why not at the Loaf on Saturday Feb 20? Spillway.
