  1. Yep, still got your "From Russia With Love" PQ60. I save it for pow days mostly and since we got another 5 day storm coming in Tues. I know where I'll be Tues. night! Yeah the Wing Swallow shape is sexy. I did try one and it didn't feel any different in ride than the U5 to me....which is a great ride, floats great as expected and both can carve if you make it....... But I Still Say the PQ Wants To Carve which makes it my choice. I also say if I had to sell my whole fleet of boards and could only have one board to ride I would keep the PQ! Have you seen this years PQ topsheet? I like the look and the local shop has one and it's much brighter in person. Ha! but I'm always looking for an excuse to get another!
  2. Ski Cooper just north of Leadville is way off the weekend warrior path and a great family/locals mtn. imo I rode there when I was living in Col Springs and working for Outward Bound Leadville base. If it wasn't so far out of the way from the Springs I would have gone there more often. I remember very non corporate vibe and wide groomers fun for carving! It's a long twisty drive after getting off I70 ......but it's worth more than just 1 day....I'd stay overnight and make the weekend!
  3. Even more impressive if they were running stock edges.........I wonder if they were even aware running 1/2 edges would be an asset?? Would like to see the blooper reel.....had to be quite a few unintentional EC body slides when the edge blew
  4. Absolutely agree! From my collision and being air lifted off the mtn. it was almost 6 weeks before I could get in to see a Doc ! So the only major relief I got or felt after my collision was from those Chiropractic visits!!
  5. There were a lot of questions in that post...... I'd say don't overthink it. It all depends on what you want in your quiver and what your wallet can cover. Your in the Sierras, so a pow board is logical but typically doesn't get used daily. For me 1 Pow board, 1 Slalom, 1 GS, 1 daily driver/work, 1 EC is the armada currently.....but it took me many years and riding many boards to get to this refined list. The list does change, sometimes based on geography, sometime based on money. Additionally I ride hardboots on all my setups........more out of convenience from board to board. As much as I wanted to like softboots and the newer Step-On softboot setups, they feel like I'm in flip-flops compared to hardboots. Going from hardboots to softboots is a step down in control/performance imo....but I can see going from traditional softboots to Step-Ons is a step up in performance for those guys. I agree with Phil, get out there and get after it to see what you like and what works for your wallet and your ski area....
  6. Not much to look at, but just starting to get my groove back and this felt like real progress as one of my best start/set of turns since the collision a year ago...
  7. You did share a misinformed opinion which was not in any way helpful to the O.P. That's the problem. Come on boys!.......find another place for your little Tryst. None of this..... is in any way helpful.
  8. Went out for a couple of runs on my easy turning Moss Snowstick....just to see if I could do it and how it would feel. Not much pain, a little tenderness while riding on the groomers but felt weak laterally in my hips. I stopped after 2 runs, just could tell I need more healing time. I hopefully will get a PT appointment set up next week. I talked to a couple of other snowboarders who also have had a Pop in their butt cheek/hip from a hard lateral motion/turn and they both said they were 7-10 days off the board and then they casually worked back into their daily on the board routine. I'm still thinking this is a lingering/residual injury/weakness from my collision a year ago and new PT will be a tremendous boost to my recovery and rebuilding my strength on that weak side. Time will tell......
  9. Your in Cali, so you must come up to Tahoe and if so you owe yourself the Life Changing opportunity to Demo a Moss Snowstick from Tahoe Sports Hub...........they have the Whole Lineup.....but start with the U5 model. It will do everything your considering and even more than you can imagine! Really, if I had to give up/sell my other 6 boards and only allowed 1 board my Moss PQ60 would be it! It loves the pow but wants to carve....all on the same run! Trust me....It's an OMG experience! http://www.mosssnowstick.com/
  10. Made it in to the clinic here at Palisades today and after an examination and Xrays...... still no clue as to the Pop I felt, but nothing broken or torn they could see, so referring me to PT..............however long that will take to get in to as this is a Workers Comp situation and 1st, I have to go to an Occupational Health exam, 7 Days From Now! ....just to get my first PT appointment...which hopefully will be this Month!! Still no pain sitting, standing and the tenderness seems much less today. I was, of course stiffer this morning and I could feel tenderness in my stride when walking, especially anything with an slant......but that dissipated by noon. This evening I made it through my (3 times a week) evening weight routine aok....was able to do my Thurs. 2 sets of squats with 135lbs just fine and all the usual upper body sets with free weights as usual. I'll go back to my stretching tomorrow morning and if that goes well and if I keep feeling better I'm really tempted to get back on the horse and try my Swoard Dual or Moss PQ60 for a couple of easy runs on the groomers Fri. afternoon or night riding at Boreal to see if I can get down the Mtn. pain free. We will see.....
  11. I already had a Chiro appointment scheduled so it actually worked out perfectly and I felt immediate relief and my stride was much better after the appointment. I'm going to the clinic today that we have here on the Mtn. to get evaluated, which I'm sure will just end up being a referral to the Ortho clinic!
  12. Yep...doing that But thinking about it this left leg/hip has bothered me consistently since the collision. At first I had trouble picking it up high enough to get over a step or up stairs...and even now a year later steps and stairs felt ok but I would avoid them if possible! Something down there must of never totally recovered! ......and now I really pissed it off! Ugh!
  13. So...been having some soreness/tenderness in left butt check which I felt mostly when in my hardboots on the mtn. It got worse from riding that Really Deep pow of a couple weeks ago trying to pull my board to the left in the deep stuff....but it mostly had dissipated as of late. Today was out and made 1 run...and it was my best run/lap to date since the collision!...I actually felt like I was driving the board with power and agility. From the run/excitement I came into the ropes a little hot and had slowed down quite a bit before the ropes but needed to counter rotate hard to the left to avoid a rope wand and when I did I felt a Pop in my left butt cheek and it felt skeletal like a dislocation! Fortunately there was nobody in the ropes so I slid/skated up to the chair and assessed the pain. It felt sore and I couldn't touch my front foot boot without much effort and pain but no pain just standing there. So I rode the lift up and knew I could not do any hard charging but could do lazy S turns back to lodge but I could feel the tenderness all the way down. I went straight to my car and my Chriopractor. My gait is better now but I feel it walking. No problems walking, sitting, standing, bending but it is tender to reach my toes but I can do it. I got a lidocane/Icy hot patch on it right after the Chiropractor and took 3 Advil....but I'm really bummed I was just getting my Mojo back and now this!!! Looks like I'm off the mtn. the rest of this week at a minimum! UGH! What do the Sages say?????
  14. What spring system are we talking about? Photos of your current spring system settings front and back could be informative.
  15. Not sure where you heard that but all the ski boot fitters here in Tahoe sell all the Superfeet footbeds. I got green G in my old 425's and green H in the new 425's. There Great!
  16. Feb. 3 Still learning and loving this Little Go Kart! New boots have really helped me get infront of this little beast and now Driving It! Not just riding it!! Which has brought me and this board get to a new level of excitement! I upgraded my old Deeluxe 425's with the latest version 425's and Wow.....right out of the box it was a performance upgrade....even without any footbed or heat molding. I had added BTS and Fintecs just like my old boots. I now have gotten new Superfeet H footbeds in and the Thermo liners heat molded and will give it all a go tomorrow/Sat. at Heavenly. Wish me luck!! Update to come
  17. Jan. 6th Took the Little Red Corvette out for the 1st test spin today....aka Coiler Angrry 160 UPM F Plate It was dust on crust in foggy conditions and I made some mediocre turns.....but Wow is it lively! The takeaways so far are: 1- It tracks super straight off the lift....with no input from me! I'm just hanging on like being launched!! 2- It picks up crazy speed in a straight line ...more so than my Rev 163 or K168! 3- and in that micro second it takes to get to speed/mach 1 it starts pulling the nose off the track...like it's saying, Hey! let's go over there! 4- and as soon as you whip it around to that direction you feel it pulling the other way! No, we gotta go over here! 5- the transitions don't need any coaxing from me and really feel like the board is wanting/telling me to start the turn and happen lighting quick....and as far as inputs from me I'm just trying to keep up with this little Bandit! 6- but when your in those turns the board really looses speed and for a micro second time seems to slow down and then.....Wham! your headed the other direction!! 7- At the moment I'm just a passenger along for the ride! It will take a few more days of better conditions to Release The Kracken and Learn To Drive this go-kart! 8- and What's Really Scary is I've barely taped this little beasts potential....... sure hope it's not a Jekyll and Hyde and it just decides to pitch me in the woods! More updates to come!
  18. So I upgrade my 6? year old (100+ days per season) black/green Deeluxe 425 Pro's with the new colorway of blue/orange 425's and finally got out on the hill today and even with the standard Deeluxe Speed liner it was a step up in performance! Like on my old boots I added BTS all Blues and Fintec's. Even without a custom footbed the included new Speed wrap liner had great heel hold with it's sculpted internal ankle cups and felt comfortably snug from the start. The upper part of the liner felt a little to soft compared to my Intuition Pro Wraps but the Booster strap made up for the difference. I'll probably stick with the Deeluxe liner for one more day before switching out to see if I can notice any difference with the Intuition Pro Wraps. The liner is greatly improved from the original liner that came in my old boots. The buckles are redesigned and have some additional mechanical advantage that make them much easier to get cranked down. The flex seems much more lively than my old boots and the Booster strap seems to work better and actually have a designated slot/groove to sit in compared to just wrapping it around the shell/liner on the old boot.....which never seemed to fit/stay where I wanted it. Overall very happy to have stuck with Deeluxe!
  19. Never seen that before, but quite a lot of other Intec failures mentioned here over the years. Intecs are great for the price but not anywhere the durability of Fintecs. I was tempted to try Intecs after one of my 5 year old Fintecs imploded but was too skeptical Intecs would survive my 5-6 day work week and 120+ days a season. $12 part from Bomber got me back on the hill and they are solid as a rock again....Thanks Walker!
  20. Hey D, Do you run aggressive front foot forward lean (to get back to vertical) because your running a 6 disk on the front? If you went down to a 3 degree disk on front foot wouldn't you therefore need less forward lean on front foot??? Just trying to understand the concept....
  21. Plenty of calf deep days, numerous knee deep days, a handful of thigh deep days and only a couple of waist deep days and 1 Day Over My Head!....all here in Tahoe basin. I won't go if it's over knee deep any more! If you go down or run out of speed in the flats for any reason you are in for a serious workout....if not a life threatening experience! The Over My Head experience was earlier this season, night riding at Boreal after we had had 9ft of snow in 18 days. It was great waist deep riding ...until I decided to go up for one more last! run and I misread a contour in the night lights and actually just fell/sat back and totally submerged into the white room! I was in shock how far I submerged just by being tossed off to the side on a contour! I shot my hand straight up and barely could reach the surface. Thank god I could reach my TD3 SW SI release levers at the top of my boots! I'd still be there if I had to bend over and unstrap/unbuckle with traditional bindings! As I was not on the main runs and off on the fringe of the night lights And Riding Alone they wouldn't have found me until months later in the thaw of 2023! Needless to say I clawed/dug my way to the surface but it was bottomless. I had to hold on to my board like the edge of the pool and mantle up on top of it to get out. Then swim/paddle out surfboard style to get back to the tracked runs to get back up on the board..........all of that was/is a Herculean effort not to repeat! DEEP Pow lessons: You can't fall! Don't ride the pow alone!!
  22. I always thought you wanted your front boot more vertical. What does forward lean on your front boot help you with? I would think any preset forward lean on front boot would take away from your toe side turn ??
  23. D, Can I assume the first two photos are your front boot? ...and if the last two photos are your rear boot, the way you measured, from the bottom of the BTS it looks like your averaging over an inch for your rear boots
  24. Really, ok, ......sit by your phone. When it doesn't ring that will be me!
  25. Curious as to what everybody's rear boot forward lean is on your boots for some Hard Charging Carving and what the average is these days?? On my rear boot I got my BTS short spring compressed about 1/4 inch....or 3/4 inch if measured from bottom of BTS. What you got??
