  1. D, Can I assume the first two photos are your front boot? ...and if the last two photos are your rear boot, the way you measured, from the bottom of the BTS it looks like your averaging over an inch for your rear boots
  2. Really, ok, ......sit by your phone. When it doesn't ring that will be me!
  3. Curious as to what everybody's rear boot forward lean is on your boots for some Hard Charging Carving and what the average is these days?? On my rear boot I got my BTS short spring compressed about 1/4 inch....or 3/4 inch if measured from bottom of BTS. What you got??
  4. That's a good one Corey! Speaking of boards flying away, there's also Don't Be Stupid!......Was riding up the lift at Boreal for 1st lap night riding and it's a deep pow night and for some reason I decide it's imperative to check I'm solidly attached to my front TD3 SW SI....so what do I do......In a brain fart moment I pull the friking release lever and in shock and embarrassment I see my board drop like a bomb and nose over an auger in nose first in the ungroomed steeps under the lift towards the top.......and disappear! Gone, Vanished. So I get to the top and just casually walk off the chair and the lifty just stares but doesn't say a word. So I start walking sliding, wading back down to where I last saw the board and spend a hour+ digging here and there for buried treasure until I was about to give up and actually sat down on the tail of the board! All my pit digging had drifted me downhill and away from the groom, so once I got the board out the real work started.....it was so deep to get back out to the groom I had to lay on top of the board and surf paddle out of the pow. I was so spent from all that when I finally got back down I was toast and just went straight to the car! Not even one!....and Done!! Yikes! That's scary beyond belief E! You one lucky dude!!
  5. Hey Q, Welcome to the Moss Powder Squadron! I love my PQ60 and I still say if I had to sell all my other boards and could only own 1 board this would be it! It is a Swiss (Japanese) army knife! Loves the pow, wants to carve the groom...and all on the same run!! It's a surfy, pumpy ride unlike anything else out there! Enjoy!
  6. Some of you may have read my"Fintec Debacle" post where I have been sidelined from riding/work since one of my Fintecs imploded internally last Sat. Jan. 20th. I had already had a order for a new set of Fintecs on order since Jan. 9th but that order has been "Delayed" aka: lost wandering from one FedEx terminal to the next all over CA and NV it seems. Anyway I contacted Walker about a new order for just the Fintecs parts to fix my blown pair and that the original order has never arrived. He immediately offered to (re)send the lost original Fintec set order plus the new Fintec parts order together overnight Express at no cost! There is actually no "overnight" Express service to Tahoe but it only took 2 days to get here and I should pick up the parts this morning and be on the hill with my team riders this afternoon! Thanks Walker!!
  7. Well, way back in the day I just installed the BTS and played around with settings until it felt right and now I just emulate those settings on every BTS setup I do, but there's got to be better steps to discerning your perfect lean positions. Seems like it ought to be easier/clearer to find those "desired positions" Otherwise how do you know how, where to start? Actually it's that video where he states you need aggressive forward lean on the rear foot for locked in heel side turns that got me thinking, there's got to be a flow chart or video on what to look for, how much is enough and how do you start to get there?
  8. Yes, I know that video, which is mostly about how to install them on your boots, but very little on what goes into how much or little lean to put on each boot or where to start. That video assumes you already have an idea where you want your boot cuffs to be from riding/using the oem 5 step forward lean/walk mode mechanism. I know for me and possibly a lot of people the 5 step lock never got me even close to where I wanted, therefore one of the reasons to replace them with BTS. Additionally I would not call the one page print out that's on Bomber's website, which is the exact copy that comes in the box a "manual" I'm a kinaesthetic/visual learner and surely there has to be more than only these two instruction options!
  9. Curious, as I have a new set of BTS on the way if anybody knows of a BTS setup video? I have always just vaguely gone by the included instructions and set ++ forward lean on the rear foot and neutral on the front foot. aka: winging it! Anybody got a better setup explanation??
  10. Ditto!, I totally agree! I sold my awesome K168 because the Rev 163 is Seriously more lively and fun! Ha! Now, you should know by now, I'm the UPM Plate Meister I have a couple of Donek AF's I could sell you!!
  11. ...and bad shoulders/broken collar bones/torn rotator cuffs!
  12. UMP Rev 180!, Damn! That's A Lot of Board For The Money! I would need to put on my Big Boy pants to ride that! Sooo tempting! Thank goodness I just got a new Little Bandit to focus all my attention on! Good luck with the sale!
  13. I don't want to learn/start all over with a new discipline. Nuff said............
  14. The chimes photo is from our house in Northern NH of our back fields. The building shot is looking out from my apt. to the quad and parking from work in Olympic Valley, CA.
  15. I did........just didn't get here in time, actually delayed or I would have already had them on! But no big deal, I like fixing stuff and for $15 + postage I'll get a couple of seasons more out of the old pair as I'll downgrade them and the boot just to pow duty.
  16. No worries, I saw that when ordering the parts from Bomber, that they come in right or left sets of the three internal plastic pieces. Yeah, I guess my Karma is saying I need a couple of days off!
  17. Hmm? ..... a lot! probably at least four 100+ day seasons on them and a couple of 50+/- day seasons because of injuries and surgeries. It's was my every day work boot, pow boot and hard charging carving boot.........with the same pair of Fintecs since new........I had been planning to downgrade this pair of 425's/Fintecs to just workdays or pow days.....which I will still do once I get the replacement arms from Walker/Bomber....I'll also replace the red rubber walking soles while I got them torn down. Personally I was expecting the cable to let go some time this season like last time, but here we are........
  18. Yeah.......probably not worth the time and effort. I'd have to pull both Fintecs off their boot and open them up and rearrange the cable release to the other side and then put them back together then put them on the other boot........ a lot of trouble and questionable safety as you mentioned. Fortunately I've had another set of Fintecs on order for my new 425's and they should be here Mon.....so if all goes well I'll only miss two days of riding
  19. Yep, upon further disassembly one of the inner arms broke off where it makes contact with one of the springs. Part B - Inner Arm Even in the Bomber parts photo of Fintec innards it's hard to discern the inner arm as its under the long arm mechanism that moves the two inner arms unless you've dissected one of these bad boys before. Now I'm trying to rig a way to ride tomorrow ....I could switch the broken Fintec to the front boot and that would get me riding........ until the end of day when I would have to pull the liner out of the stuck shell and get to do The Walk Of Shame again, walking to my car in my Intuition liner on my left foot and carrying my board under my arm with an empty front foot boot shell still attached to it! Ugh! Not a good look!
  20. Some photos of the board/binders and boots on board would help with this mystery!
  21. Hey CT, Don't know UPZ's or f2 bindings..... but 51/40 angles on a 19 w board sounds like part of the problem. The difference between the front foot and rear is usually not more than 5 degrees and none of my boards would feel/be responsive at 51/40. Additionally 51/40 on a 19w board sure sounds like Boot Out potential on both feet. I would try 55/50 .....or the maximum angles to not boot out and add a few degrees more to the rear foot. Also, I'm sure the UPZ, f2 posse will chime in about the infamous f2 cant wedge debate and the UP'zs notorious boot ramp issue...... but I'd put some lift under your front foot toe. Good luck!
  22. Was having a pretty good start to the day running some laps on the Olympic run at Heavenly with my Little Red Corvette when after my 4th lap pulling into the lift my rear Fintec won't release! Ugh! When I pulled the release cable I felt tension/pressure on the cable but the Fintecs just won't let go. I'd been here before many years ago with Fintecs but that time it was the cable that let go. So I knew my day was done and released the front boot and skated with the rear boot locked in, from the lift uphill to access the main run back to the Stagecoach lift/parking lot. That was a good workout but got up to the trail intersection and stepped back in and rode back down in defeat. I haven't taken the Fintec apart yet but when I got my Fintec/boot off the TD3 SW SI with a punch, when you pull the release cable one of the pins is not retracting all the way like the other side. Of course from my 1st Fintec failure I now carry a spare cable but this seems like an inner arm or inner spring failure which I haven't got parts for. Ugh!! Anybody seen this???
  23. Couldn't tell ya.....haven't been back.....but I imagine there's still shops renting Alpine gear. Hardbooting is much more popular over there and Zermatt is a world class destination. I'm sure you will find something!
  24. Yeah....there's probably some truth in that! Actually ...Sense the collision (it will be a year ago this Weds!) All My Boards Feel Broke To Me! It's has gotten somewhat better with my short carving boards, but so far getting my Mojo back has been such a sloooow process I'm thinking I will pack it all in and yard sale it all off if I don't get any better than this by the end of this season!
