  1. Correct! Not only are they hard to get leverage on, those red tapered buckles will also pinch the crap out of ya if your not careful!

Ok........here's what I've gleaned and applied from you Ice/crud masters to make getting going faster once off the lift! 1- Anti slip tape for outside decks and steps applied to Fintec heels on Deeluxe Track 425's 2- For those floppy Toe bails with worn out wavy washers that plop down just as your starting to step in I added my own bike tube bunges to keep it up! 3- Red duct tape on all TD3 receivers This weekend we have over 40 inches of Pow predicted right here in the Tahoe Basin which means double that up on the higher slopes which means perfect conditions to see if any of this helps! We shall see..........

  4. Scully why you giving up on the SF?? It's not the Quad strength! It's their hip/knee/ankle flexibility imo...... Strength does nothing if you can't bend/flex your anatomy into those positions! They are Gumby's.... they got to be way more flexible to get that low at those softboot angles!
  5. Newer model is hands down better, not just the liner but the old model had rounded buckles which were a pain to get leverage on to crank down your boots. The new model has the square buckle which gives you more grip and leverage ability. Sooo much easier to buckle and crank down!

    Bevel turning

    I'm a fan of 1/2 B-E for All my boards, with no detune, even out here in the "No Such Thing As Ice" Sierras. Out here we have early morning "firm" so a 1/2 obviously destroys "firm" when everybody else is sitting in the lodge for it to loosen up within the hour I got the runs to myself with a 1/2! I see no disadvantage of running 1/2 edges even on my Moss pow board because edges don't make any difference good or bad in pow but when you pop back out of the pow on the groom it's the ticket to have! Even the Moss PQ 60 Pow Slayer with a 1/2 Wants To Carve the groom and will lay down the turns! Additionally when I go back home to northern NH, Franconia is right at the base of Cannon Mtn. (where Bode Miller is from and notorious for Ice!) a 1/2 setup is the minimum to ride on the Ice Coast imo! Jack, what disadvantage to running a 3 edge/side?? I would expect a 3 to be Really squirrely /hooky and you would have to detune the nose ???
  7. Hmm....I guess I could see some benefit in that if you got a ride that you us with and without your plate. I'm going to ride my new little go-kart coming from Bruce without a plate for a while before my minty fresh F Plate gets slapped on, so I might could see this use in this situation...but seems like it's only saving me from buying 2 stomp pads....but you still got the cost for a square of velcro tape and I don't remember that being cheap.
  8. Ok, I AM the guy with the brain injury....but I don't get it! I understand the concept but what tha hell does this velcro sandwich have to do with decreasing snow/ice buildup or better traction? It's just a transferable stomp pad........right?
  9. Bruce's only gripe was with the extra holes UPM takes. He thinks the board gets so bent any additional inserts/holes weaken the boards life span and/or puts it at risk of snapping. Not sure how the trendy "flex" plates are any different ......I guess fewer holes that close together?? He did offer a Contra Angrry design. He said it's better on ice but not as snappy. I said no thanks as thers no such thing as ice out here in the Sierras and I want full Angrry Snappy! But adding the UPM F Plate and 1/2 edges will slap Ice silly anyway.....so no problem!
  10. My Donek Rev 163 is 8-9.5 scr. I don't see any disadvantages....you just have to be prepared it will switch directions in the blink of an eye just by thinking about it, it's that responsive if you want it to be and it will pitch you in the woods if you don't stay alert and on top of it! It will also cruise and sideslip if needed but when going that slow you can actually feel it grumble and not want to track well under your feet as it just wants to haul ass.......and Turn! You can get ALOT more TPR with a smaller scr....Turns Per Run. I good exercise we do is see how many full turns you can squeeze out just between two lift towers. with typical 13-15 scr I was getting 8-9 good turns.....on the Rev I can easily get 12-14 if I'm pushing it! Great for smaller mtns. and tighter and/or crowded runs. It's my weekend "hard charging carving and dodge the obstacles" ride for sure! Fun on a big mtn. if you pick one run and work it but not the All Mtn explore every run ride imo. When I go to Heavenly I'll bring a couple of boards and use the Rev for the first couple of hours of hard charging on the same run/lift until my legs tell me it's time to switch or the crowds get too big to dodge and then switch to my Swoard Dual to cruise or carve at a more casual pace.

I had thought tape might help reduce snow buildup But make the heel more slippery for walking! ....and my Fintecs are already notorious for sending ya ass over teakettle if your not carefull! I replace the red heel rubber on my Fintec heels every season but even when in good shape Fintecs are more slippery than snail snot! I've taken some pretty good walking yard sales because of those heels! Need something that reduces snow buildup and provides as good if not better grip! Maybe some gritty gaffers tape could do both jobs???
  12. Ha! Here's my classic ~ 1989 Dodge Raider (aka: Mitsubishi Montero) V6 5 speed 120,000 miles I've had this one 15? years. Actually found this one in a salvage yard while looking for parts for my 1987 4 cyl Mitsubishi Montero. I bought it pretty much as you see it (sans wheels/tires) for $300 ! It was missing a distributor, seats, sun roof and a few other cosmetic bits and pieces. Dodge imported these (from Mitsubishi) and branded this Gen 1, swb 2 door model only 2 years 89/90 so Raiders are rare, classic and now qualify for vintage/antique plates being over 30 years old. There hasn't been a winter that has slowed this beast down! I've even pulled state plow trucks out of the ditch with this! It will pull a stump out of the ground and yet cruise 75 all day long. It only had 60,000+/- miles on it when I towed it home and now currently with only 120,000 miles it's barely broken in according to the Raider/Montero forum guys. It just keeps on running................ Here's some (latest snowstorm) profile photos. Oh......and here's my burglar alarm, Chester, a 120lb. Long Haired Rottweiler!
  13. Ha! Man it sure hasn't felt like a "finally" purchase as this UPM Turny Plankenstein mutant has been in my head and on the books with Bruce for over a year! The "finally" here is , this UPM Turny hypothesis, after months of discussion and debate back and forth with Bruce, Sean/Donek, Frank/Virus, Hansjurg/Kessler and Admin/Corey and Jack here on the forum is finally coming to fruition as Bruce says it's finished and boxed and ready to ship tomorrow/Monday! Now I just gotta find my Mojo to ride the damn thing!
  14. Well I've been out 4 times so far this season and still struggling to get my mojo back......the first 3 times out I only lasted 4 runs and my legs and mind were toast! Tonight I went out for night riding and there was hardly anybody there for the last hour and 1/2 I was there and I was able to last 6 runs. I can get down the hill but it is Butt Ugly as I can't connect turns......I'm just throwing my tail in and out of the turn instead of committing to the turn. I feel a little more confident and stronger mentally each outing but my riding feels like microscopic improvement at best! Additionally I have ridden all 3 of my daily driver boards so far this season and they All are tracking to the left whether I'm getting off the lift or starting or finishing a run! It feels like I got to fight to keep the Damn board tracking straight! I haven't changed anything on my boards, boots or bindings and No, my doctors and chiropractors haven't told me my body or feet are supinating to the left! ......and No! I'm not constantly looking over my left shoulder out of fear for the next out of control skier to take me out..... Ok, maybe a little, but less each time out! Anybody else had any of these post collision/concussion after effects??
  15. Photos from this evenings tape test. I used red Duct tape on the rear heel receiver and that area stayed totally clear of snow and ice while riding tonight ..........but the rear boot heel is still clumping up and I have to stomp it on the rear heel receiver numerous times once off the lift before I get a solid hook up! Seems there's got to be a spray? to cut down snow sticking to the heel.....but without making the heel even more slippery? ??

  18. I'm already using those Dakine Stomp Pad Spikes! I'll try duct tape on the step in receiver tonight for night riding at Boreal to see if that makes a difference.

On these daily Sierra powder days when getting off the lift I'm spending way too much time and energy trying to beat the snow/ice build up off the bottom of my Track 425's boots and from the base of the step-in receiver to get them to hook up! No I'm not changing my pow boot/binding setup....so working with what I got.............what say the Powda Sages ..............is there a technique or some spray application I can put on my heel receiver to decrease the ice buildup? On the ride up the lift I always am knocking my rear boot against my front boot and on the top of the rear heel receiver .......but in this Sierra cement and when it's been like it is now, over 20 inches of new deep every day it's not enough!

  23. Good replies fellas! I'm glad to see I'm not the only mutant that's having fun on a variety of setups. Any of you running Bomber TD3s? Wondering if the 3/6 toe/heel lifts I'm running on all my TD3 SW Si's boards is of any advantage of hindrance for EC ??
