  1. Yea, there's some satisfaction when I know I got their attention as their heads are bobbing back and forth as I'm eating up the trail edge to edge...... guilty as charged
  2. Shhh! Don't tell my surgeon but went out Fri. and today/Monday to Bretton Woods and Loon and not just survived Day 1-2 of the season but actually got my Carve On!. Started out Sunday on the Swoard Dual 168 just putzing around keeping it flat with sliding turns to get my rhythm back but mostly paranoid about falling and hyper vigilant about getting run into.......but speed and angulation increased as the day went on and all went well really well! Legs gave out by noon but super satisfied just to have gotten out! Today started out on the Swoard but conditions got really good for railing some turns and I pulled out the K168 with BP v2 4mm lite and Boy Was It a Confidence Booster! On it I felt like I jumped a month instantly in comfort and confidence and actually laid down some pretty good turns considering! I wanted to stay longer but my legs were toast by 1pm! but Day 2 was even better! Winter is dwindling away up here in the 50 degree temps and no snow in the forecast, so not sure how many more days I will get but super stoked to have Just Gotten Something Out of this Season! Hope to get some carving shots next time!!
  3. Thanks LB! A timely and informative addendum for sure!
  4. Question you Oxess aficionados can answer I expect..... How come Oxess boards only have 4 inserts fore and aft? Seems very limited in adjustment compared to most other boards with 10-12 fore/aft??
  5. Ha! Good eye Dave! Just saw that! Good one Lurch!
  6. Physics of a Snowboard Carved Turn Great article Jack!
  7. Good Stuff Guys! I'm a visual person, got any action diagrams, examples?? Jack, I understand a board with a 10 sc radius makes a tighter carve radius than a 14 .......but If scr is radius, what "edge angle" are you referring?
  8. I have a buyer/end user understanding of SCR but is there a tool to measure it...say on a finished board? How is a board with a specific degree scr created? What is the math in simplest terms - a board with a 12 degree scr is 12 degrees out of what.... total angle? ......and how is a VSCR created on the same plane? Yes!....still on alpine injured reserve and I have way too much time on my hands and desperately need to get out on the hill!
  9. My second year of boarding, 1988? and was getting tired of sitting on my butt and fighting the buckle bindings. Saw a set of Emery Plates at the local shop and I had a dream.....to clip in while on the lift and ski/ride right off the chair! And it worked!! .....and at our little hill at the Broadmoor ski resort in Colorado Springs the lifties didn't care. I used my Asolo mountaineering boots that year. Those boots design wasn't made for that application of course and I ended up ripping the sole from the boot with one too many hard turns! Moved up to old Raichle ski mountaineering boots.. the one with white shells and with one boot with a magenta tongue and the other with a chartreuse tongue ..... wow! So 80's!! Looked like these -
  10. Hey Rob, Congrats on the Virus acquisition! I'm a Virus fan and the Virus UFC 163 is one of my favorite boards EVER! ....but my quads would disagree! If your enjoying your MK I doubt you'll have any surprises but all the Virus boards I've had were imo: 1- Railed turns! 2 - stiff, would burn up the quads after a couple of hours 3- didn't seem to want to track/glide smooth or straight until you were approaching Mach I 4 - but picked up Speed Crazy Fast!! 5 - which made you need to stay ahead of it or it would pitch you in the woods in a second! 6- and Virus carbon topsheets I had were a magnet for scratches!....

  12. What length Renn Tiger? With your Catek bindings.......angles, cants, lift?
  13. Hey Gremlin, Hmm.........I'd like to know what board your on, width, SCR, etc. What bindings, what boots (looks like two different boots in video?) were you riding? How long you been snowboarding? How long on an Alpine board? Looked like a fun uncrowded day at Stowe!
  14. Aw Shucks!, unfortunately those two IOC videos won't play on this 3rd party platform
  15. From the video and your comments I'd suggest ditching the Plate also and a lot of your speed and get back to learning to Drive The Board with controlled carves. Concentrate on carving Across the run/fall line and Back...not just Down the run. What I see is your Riding The Board with mostly straight lining the run with some board edge here and there.....your speed and body movements even look more like a skier bombing down the run imo. If your normal speed is even faster, and you say you "build too much speed", your not going to have the room or control to Carve...much less being able to work on improving your Carving! Remember, If You Want To Carve....Slow Down ~ It's All About The Turn! Not pointing it down the hill.......
  16. Ha! I'm getting the urge myself..................for a SF 162! How do you like your SF? What's a typical day/run when you pull it out?? How's Thirst's board stiffness.......say compared to Donek's? Can you ride Mark's boards all day?? Wow! I can only say that's a huge testament to the Thirst ride and Mark's build quality!
  17. What size boots? From all my testing best performance has been with axles under, if not a little in front of ball and heel of 28.5 Deeluxe 425's You really got to guess/eyeball center of Where the Ball and Heel of your foot is in the boot. I marked those ball and heel center spots on boot with my foot in it.......which was really different than where I had though center of ball and heel was!!
  18. Hey KB, It could just be the angle of the photos but the BP axles don't look even close to centered under heel and ball of your boots.............but I know nothing of where center is on UPZ's.....
  19. Would love to see some photos of This setup...with boots attached to see where your BP axles and boots line up. Anything would give us more to go on. Your BP setup 4x4 or UPM? I love my BP 4mm Lite V2 and had a similar skating issue. Moving plate back 2 sets of inserts helped but widening axle stance helped even more!

How many snowboarders does it take to change a light bulb? 27 - 1 to do it, 8 to say i can do that better. and the rest to sit in the landing! How many snowboarders does it take to screw in a light bulb? All of them available, 1 to screw it in, one to film it and the rest to yell Sick!! How many snowboarders does it take to screw in a light bulb? 5 - one to do it, 1 to film it, 2 to yell sick! and 1 to say i could do it switch! how many snowboarders does it take to screw in a light bulb? 10 - 1 to do it and 9 to sit there and say "I could do that!"
  21. Ladia So glad to hear your still with us! So sorry you think your carving days are over......give it some time, maybe just ride and glide and pow would be enough fun for ya instead of hard charging carving. I know, I'm now into 4 months postop myself.............way to much time to consider and reconsider my riding goals! ......but the immediate goal for you is to recover and get better and that going to take time. So Take It Easy! Stay in touch and let us know how your doing please! I miss riding the lift and running laps with ya buddy!
