  1. Silicone grease would be best water resistant properties and low temperature tolerant etc.
  2. Heel lift ! Heel lift ! Had this drilled into me more than once. From a standing position (normal riding stance) slowly squat and watch what happens to your rear heel.(it lifts off the floor). If you want a normally neutral stance when you are on your board in a slight squat and don't want to be favouring toe or heel edge get this addressed first then the rest comes with trial and error. More than 3 degees may be required toe and heel. With your 6'4 i can't give you advice on stance but at 5'11 i'm 21". Whatever you find comfortable.
  3. Costom made UPM Plate on new VSR Coiler. Child asks parent why is that guy riding on two snowboards? I explained it to the kid so he could explain it to the parent.
  4. Slight hijack! can we factor in whether you are a fair weather rider. Two hour perfect groom or diehard 8:30 to 4:30. Big difference as i find that most hardbooters are gone by noon. In my younger days (three kids in tow) no one would dare show weakness or admit to being tired before 4:30.:o
  5. Bumper stickers and Bomber stickers ,Paypal volunteer donation to BOL or your post gets flamed!!!:AR15firinSell us back a sticker kit to promote Hard booting. When do you want my $10.
  6. Jack i think the board builder perhaps has the inserts out of alignment with the mounting plate. At least thats how plate makers see it .
  7. Do results trump form ? I prefer Kiley style of skiing but the new bowlegged cowboy style seems to be winning with shaped skis. Knees together knees apart look at the results. :):):)
  8. Good form but i thought it was the mitts !
  9. Comparing all the variables is interesting as well as confusing since you have to be sure which variables apply. Longer board may have different flex than shorter board of similar dimensions, just look at how VSR affects turning radius and then translate that to how the leading edge of a longer board is actually effecting the turn, now decamber the nose and you have a new variable. Different bindings will effect the board depending on the footprint of the binding. One thing that I have noticed is that putting a plate on a board actually allows a better comparison of its characteristics since the riders input limit some of the variables and allows more immediate feel for what the board is trying to do independant of the rider.
  10. A longer board and then add the plate:biggthump
  11. Ditto: my snow was worse wind and cold too!
  12. Will it work and is it optimal. The difference in plate performance on less than optimal mounting stance is noticeable. Best results is a board matched to a plate anything else is trial and error. So get out your "T" handle driver and start turning screws. At the least the axles should be directly under your bindings (stance). Better somewhere outside your stance (determined by trial and error) Based on factors like your weight, plate stiffness, plate height ,board flex and other personal preferences. No one can decide all these variables for you but pay attention to what your starting point is and you can narrow things down pretty quickly.
  13. "Hinge and slide" it's a plate, welcome to the club ! Now make it lighter and lower.
  14. The next generation of Coilers ie; plate specific, (UPM Plus and 4x4 Plus) have extended insert spacing to avoid the diving board effect. A word of caution to anyone considering both new board and plate, consult your board builder to optimize the performace from your new set up. My new T173 all mountain matched to a UPM plate that sits 14.8 mm off the middle of the board is like riding in powder even in ice coast conditions.
  15. Sorry to hear of your injury! Can't wait to hear how your boot liners fit with those big ass screws sticking out the back of your foot.Hope they can remove them after it all heals. All i can think of when ever my foot feels uncomfortable(previous broken left ankle) are those screws in yours thanks for sharing the picture! Just recieved my T173 All Mountan UPM Plus. if your not going to be riding the rest of this year better sell the new board and get Bruce working on one of the new ones, Plate specific (It's new) you will not be disappointed. We don't have powder in the east like you spoiled west coasters but riding this new board with a UPM plate makes it feel like powder all day long !!

    Yo Lci!!

At your weight you would benefit more from a plate than many others. You should try one on it. Not necessary if you only ride on perfect groom.

    Yo Lci!!

Does your prototype 184 have the UPM Plus inserts and 4x4 plus inserts for the next generation longer plates ?
  18. A plate on that 184 will make it ride like a much shorter board.

  20. I agree with above. If grinding isn't an option you could take up extra length by using a washer or two.
  21. Race at the Brim. this weekend tomorrow morning i believe.
  22. It only counts as a fall if someone sees it right?
