  1. Sorry for your loss, congrats on being one of the first to trash a board with a plate you will now be in the record books. Is this strictly a top sheet delam or did it do further damage to boards core.I think this will be a topic of discussion for some time to come as we push boards to new limits with plates of all makes.
  2. When you say " stay on top of the board" i understand that to mean you have to pay attention at all times. Does your forward leg tire before the rest of your body? If it does a plate will help alot. If this board beats you up after 3 hrs there are lots of other boards that will not. So, how much do you like the board.
  3. The newer boards seem to be getting shorter and wider. Is there a point where they get too short. Getting a good day to ride longer boards is becomming more difficult. You almost need someone to ride shotgun to keep it safe. Linking turn after turn almost requires that you overtake most people on the hill for fear of being ambushed from behind. Was just wondering if longer boards are just getting to be a liability and shorter boards are slowly taking over.
  4. No carving this weekend +3c Saturday and freezing rain in the forcast i have to find a 12 step program. Scrape the wax of the 186 and redo it. :(
  5. Where have all the carving boards gone ? New deck's seems to be 170ish something, rockered or decambered . More than 19cm wide, assym core, ugly top sheets and easy to ride. Sounds like what happened to skis! And now you put a plate on it to make it easier! First tracks Saturday dust off the 186.
  6. Tic tic tic tic tic tic tic tic tic tic tic tic tic...... Boom!
  7. Any contact info on this poor misguided capitalist snowboard builder. Would like to get to him before he is shredded by the masses.
  8. What you have is a miscomunication ,4 hole actually has 12 holes for insert screws
  9. Don't give up trying a plate on your 186 you will be impressed with it's handling. Long boards are made for plates they just don't know it yet!
  10. Valsam and Steve are going to have to join the Wikileaks guy if this keeps up. Play nice guy's Santa is watching.
  11. Having outfitted three kids in both skis and boards over the last 20 years the one and ony lesson i have learned is, if they don't like it and you do you will be buying them something else very soon. First board i bought was a carving board, how do you think that worked out ? Took ten years before one of them returned to carving on a real snowboard. His choice good or bad is my .
  12. Interesting to know what the core construction is. Coilers cores are hand cut and shaped before pressing so the boards finished shape is the core natural resting shape not pre stressed. The board doesn't have internal stress till you start carving. The old saying "you get what you pay for" comes to mind. p.s. If your selling i'll give you $25 since the board clearly has a flaw. Just kidding, ride it.
  13. Get a plate the ultimate PLPD and start hoarding TD1's.
  14. Valsam you will not regret using a plate on any of your glass boards. Aside from performance improvement your knees will enjoy the suspension.
  15. Everything that was previously said and..................... it changes. The design of boards is always changing fueled by advanced rider demand and many other factors $$$$$. Plates are adding a new dimension to board performance and it is now possible to ride a longer board with a larger sidecut radius that feels shorter with a plate. I think you have three choices, demo lots of boards, take the advice of someone you trust or buy as many boards as Oldsnowboards (Bryan).
  16. Any time any conditions $$ permitting. I think the West coast philosophy is slightly different! All conditions are learning conditions.
  17. Your going to hurt someone ,it's dangerous. I wouldn't let that on my hill, those screws are too short ,those screws are too long That plate is too long, it's too short. It's to stiff it's too flexable. These are all things that could be said but i say, Check for loose parts, have fun, play safe , let us all know how it works for you. Careful with the silly smile when you find out what the rest of us already know. plates work! Good job.
  18. Cheek muscles sore from grinning all day ?
  19. Thanks for the info. Is the SBX that you refer to the one that pulls your gloves off after they stick to the frozen metal ?

    Start Platform

Are there design standards, certified standards or (plans) available for a starting platform ? I've seen everything from vertical uprights to launch from to very nice fold away handles. What is the standard or is there one ?
  21. It seems lately i'm either waiting for epoxy to cure or getting ready to dive into another batch usually right before lunch time. Got me thinking about resort food. Also the fact that while attending our local club annual meeting i brought up the subject of energy drinks sponsoring events for kids and healthier food. Get rid of the funnel fries ( cake batter fries dipped in icing suger) Real profit centre but dubious food value! So my first pic for best food is Pea soup at Mt Tremblant Quebec best when it was served in the log lodge years ago at the summit of Tremblant. Next is Mac and Cheese at Jay Peak , followed by the Fish and Chips in the hotel at Sunshine Village, Alberta. Any chance Whitefish Montana has a Trout dish on their menue? Got a favorite post it for others to enjoy !
  22. Your having a good time winding us up prior to most of us getting back on the snow for another season over here aren't you? You point is well taken now let's add to the mix a hinge in the middle or somewhere between the front and rear inserts. The variables are many now how will we quantify them? I think once people start reporting on their own experiences you are going to be very well entertained. Since you have a season up on everyone maybe you can act as referee.:argue:Do you have anything on the work bench for your off season?
  23. Adrenalin level can never be too high when you are 90+. Biggest problem it trying to slow her down (thats what i hear).
  24. His grandmother is looking forward to it also and she's 90. Go Matt GO !
