  1. Does this mean that all new plates should only be used on yet to be invented new boards ?
  2. If it works for you why not ? Better to ride one then to be ridden over by one.
  3. And after a couple of turns it's on the board again...........................So if you are in the race do you stop and clean it off again ?????
  4. I don't think plates remove any challenge they add to it because you are pushing your own limits of comfort to see what the plate will bring to it that is different from previous experience. It's not like your always looking to tweak something rather that you are searching back in your memory as to how the terrain treated you on a previous runs without a plate and then realizing that the plate is better than what you had encountered before.
  5. Weight isn't really an issue, doesn't add any more weight than a load of wet snow on your board. That doesn't send you down the hill like a rocket out of control .When you go past your limits and skills the plate is likely to help you stay in control !:)
  6. Will depend on the plate and how you set it up but you will want to try one for sure as it provides the most wonderful ride your board can give you. Smooths out the bumps but allows the board to bend as it is designed to without flat spots under your feet better on ice better on hard pack. The one feature you have to pay attention to is once the board is into a turn if you load the nose you will get a surprise!
  7. Bobby Buggs has some catching up to do! Better start by reading up on the various threads.Best reason to get a plate is to save your knees for future carving. Second reason would be to support Sean and Fin.
  8. "Boards are designed to bend". Some plates are made to bend at the front "SGP".
  9. Steve Barlow rides Apex.Does Shiba ride a plate ??
  10. A plate on any board will be enjoyed!:) If you have 3 boards a plate will make it 6. It's a quiver multiplier.
  11. A plate will negate certain input from a rider, it will also negate some sensation the rider feels from the board. I think most assumptions about plates and what they can do for you are only assumtions based on the actual plate you get to ride. The single most important thing to remember about a plate on any board is it changes everything you once knew about a particular board. And with so many options now available the variables are going to be difficult to separate and allow one to analyse precisely what inputs or feedback is responsible for a difference you either feel or think you feel. As a side note, my peddle plates (2) are finished and one has a willing victim (tester). It will allow the comparison of three functions . It is a regular plate, it is a plate that can hinge in the middle, and it is a hinged plate that can swivel in the middle to allow peddling. If the tester is willing to post and report thats great but it's up to him. I sent him the plate because he admitted in public he was a peddler, aren't we all to some degree? I'm willing to argue Jacks point about wider stance on a plate to the degree that a plate smooths your ride so much that that the actual need for a riders stance to challenge rough conditions is reduced by the effect of the plate. but a wider stance is always more stable and more comfortable as well. The preference to position your stance closer to the nose on metal boards is an interesting one since the ability to stuff the nose of the board is one i felt a few times in sloppy or deep firm snow.Still not sure if boards need to get softer in the nose for plates or thinner in the middle any ideas anyone ?
  12. Has anyone on a plate been detained for a safety inspection by the lifties or ski patrol yet?
  13. Cork silicone gasket material works great. Make sure you use ink free side down or ink will bleed onto top sheet.
  14. The front system needs to move on two planes both sliding and rocking these will not perform that function.:(
  15. Kids should all be on a leash.Or do you mean the plate? My kids all healed real quick after letting them loose on my contraptions. All three are instructors so i must not have scared it all out of them. Yet ! Nice job on the plate Blue B finish off the edge with some coloured tape or something or the ski patrol might chase you out of the lift line before you get to try it !

  21. Excellent ! Great ski in ski out ,condos have underground parking. Wasn't crowded at all when there at Easter. They have cut new runs this year They close early in the season due to lack of bodies but an excellent resort. Car rentals aren't a great deal at Calgary airport so shop around. Are you planning to visit Sunshine and Lake Louise since you will be driving right by if you arrive via Calgary.
  22. SiGi i see your email is disabled so if you have a chance could you comment on retrofitting UPM mounts on any of your boards both glass and titinal. Thanks!
