  1. I think we all go through the family building years and put riding on hold. For me it was six years. But when you get back it is just as good. There have been improvements in carving gear with some boards going a bit wider and different construction and side cuts. Dust off the stuff you have and go ride! Then check the for sale section here for used stuff.
  2. How much did they cost from Italy? Why are they better than BTS?
  3. Found that out by chance as well. I do keep the front boot locked at #3. Having the rear boot unlocked, lets me drive my rear knee down so body can get better position over the edge of board. Also has a lot to do with your boots and bindings too. Step ins hold your boot firmly in place and are rigid, while some others have more give? Glad that it is working for you.
  4. Hey Adam welcome "on board"! Check this site for lots of info. Surf style carving is fun when there is some fresh soft snow, but to really carve on the hard stuff you have to change to getting low with some proper technique to get your board high on edge to let it do it's thing. There are some good articles here called riding the norm. I will be up at Mt Snow in a week. I am 6,3" 250 before breakfast.
  5. It's all good for the sponsors. i would love to see a hard carve up one of those walls on a stiffer board to see what type of air they could get?
  6. Next new product when Bomber is back would be bright neon pendant on fiberglass pole that is attached to you, like they have on dune buggies.
  7. Feeling good, my mind says 20 but body lets me know I'm 55 should have only ordered soup at lunch time only riding the edges of trails late in the day, and that takes some effort
  8. Sorry to hear about that. If it is just the foot pain, I would try the old liners in your new shells to see if that helps? Did you have the Palau liners fitted by a boot fitter? If so I would go back to him to let him know that something is not right. Boot might need some room where the pressure point is? Good luck with it.
  9. Now I'm getting all misty eyed!
  10. Thanks for sharing. With snow like that I am sure just about any board you would be riding would be a blast.
  11. I guess we can think of them as speed dimples, like on a golfball?
  12. Wow that is a high heel! I am sure he knows what works best for him and for what he is riding. That last slow motion video that you posted with the Allflex plate team, had a rider that had blocks under his boots, UPZ, which made it look very high. Must put some real pressure on the boards inserts, no?
  13. Beckman, I am glad that you responded and that I was able to understan it!
  14. Queequeg, it's a Land Rover NAS Defender 1995.
  15. That was taken at West Hampton during the January thaw some years ago.
  16. Oh you mean Pepe, my little mule!
  17. From watching some videos, some riders like to be high up on their bindings for performance? Or is it ease/quickness for toe to heel for racing. Some seem extreme? Thanks for your response.
  18. It seems like everyone gets their own setup dialed in on whichever boot that they have. Then for some reason, they switch boot brands and have to start all over again? Are the UPZ that much better than the Deeluxe? Do the performance benefits justify having to get dialed back into a new set-up? Been with Raichle/Deeluxe for a long time, and I have contemplated a new boot purchase for the last couple of seasons. Current boots, Deeluxe LeMans, have not broken yet and other than lean walk mechanism, they continue to provide good flex, comfort and support. I will up grade to a new liner soon and I wanted to get BTS this season as well. Am I still swimming in the kiddy pool without UPZ?
  19. All I can say is that if you set small goals for yourself, for me it's heel side on steep narrow trails, and just keep at it, you will persevere. When it's not coming together as I would like it, for whatever the reason might be on that day, I will go over to a trail that i can do it on, so I can get the feeling back, and move from there.
  20. I am sure for a nominal fee, I can get that changed for you? What title would you like so I can come up with the correct estimate?
  21. I believe that the snow conditions are going to dictate how I am going to ride on any given day. A free exchange of advice on eguipment or technique has helped with questions I might want to ask, that are usually answered by guys that are like minded, and have similar interests.
  22. No one likes ice. Check this forum for artcles about riding in hardboots and softboots as well. And make sure your edges are sharp!
  23. Just back from two days of great riding at Mt. Snow. Other hardbooters and some softboot carvers there as well. Conditions were perfect for early January. Really getting my 178 Coiler dialed in. Hope you got some too!
  24. Sunsurfer, nice video showing different styles. would stance angles effect their preferred body position. shallow angle with hips aligned with long axis? Steeper angle, hips forward facing?
