  1. I'll get up late on Friday, riding Saturday and Sunday, most likely out of Stump.
  2. Good carving conditions, but lots of people to slalom around near the base areas.
  3. 13/14 is great carving on the back. Good groom and lighter crowds typically. The only issue is the pretty long chair ride.
  4. http://travel.nytimes.com/2013/01/20/travel/has-snowboarding-lost-its-edge.html?pagewanted=all How can we make it easier for more folks to get into hardboots?
  5. Your main choices will be in Mammoth itself. June's selection is pretty high quality but not much to choose from. Crowley Lake is an option too, about 15 minutes from Mammoth, but weather can sometimes make that drive challenging. Since you're looking at a rental beyond 2 months, you can avoid the town occupancy tax and have a wider selection of full houses/cabins to pick from.
  6. June carving runs are amazing. Gunsmoke is a perfect moderate pitch the whole length and is regularly trenched up by a bunch of carvers. Schatzi and Deer Bowl are great choices for slightly steeper runs. Grooming at June is definitely better than Mammoth and is overall a better carving mountain (even though Mammoth dwarfs June significantly). The best choice would be to just get a Mammoth pass so you can go to both mountains when you feel like switching it up (Mammoth pass works at both). Crowd-wise June is perfect. It is rare that I have anyone in line in front of me and is a great place to test out a new 2m+ stick ;). Mammoth on the weekends can get crowded but is actually very empty on the weekdays, particularly since it is very easy to spread out and hit more remote areas. Yes the LA scene people can suck, but they are easy to avoid if you know where to go.
  7. Hey All, Lets get some SNES dates on the calendar so we can start planning at least. With the temporary June closure, unfortunately we will need to resort to showing up early at Mammoth Chair 2 parking for good spots and tailgating; Mammoth management unfortunately does not support SNES to the same extent the awesome June crew did , but we'll make do this year for now. They do not want any active demo tents or visible board share unless we provide proof of liability insurance, let alone a closed run or a race course . For now how do the weekends of 3/9-10 or 3/16-17 sound to everyone? Weather can be a factor at this point in the season, so I am not against leaving this somewhat open so that we can hit the best carving conditions. Since we aren't asking June management to provide all of the great support they have previously, we have some flexibility and all we really need to do is show up and get there early for good parking to allow board share. Let me know your thoughts and we'll get this scheduled. Thanks all! :D ____________________________________ Starting roll call for 3/16-3/17: 1) nekdut - neil 2) wgarrow, will +1 3) Tim Kienitz 4) 2stroke 5) barryj? 6) Arclite - Julian 7) carvingchef - Andrea 8) Thomas 9) Wolfman - Rolf 10) breesj - Joe 11) SnowAndSurfAddict +1 12) Miltie + family - Tom 13) ?
  8. I have a near-mint condition Donek plate, original revision, 4x4 compatible up for sale. SOLD. :)
  9. That's awesome! Congrats to you both!! :)
  10. I've tried. Minimum $1k/day during weekdays just to pitch a tent at Stump and $1m liability. I can't imagine how much they would want for a semi-private run. They kicked us out the first year we tried a mixed-moutain SNES with a parking lot boardshare.
  11. Bryan, I think I remember seeing a recent pic from you with a BBP mounted on top of a full TNT system. Did you try riding that crazy combo?
  12. Mammoth isn't that far south, and the passes are open now (or soon) if you need to use those. :)
  13. Monday? Sorry I'm leaving after riding tomorrow. Its pretty soft but still fun times here though.
  14. Sure I'll probably park at Stump with a few (non-hardbooter) friends in tow.
  15. Hey Tom. I'm heading up tomorrow and expecting super soft conditions. I hear we're not even getting a freeze most nights so I'm not expecting too much. I'll let you know on Monday, but it will probably be ice at first then slush :).
  16. No, the 205 on LA CL was claimed locally (not me unfortunately) and was a standard build older 205. I believe around 19cm wide.
  17. Tom! Yes I'm heading up with a few buddies. Probably Saturday at June and Sunday at Mammoth but I'll keep an eye out for you and send a txt while up there.
  18. I was thinking about trying that too. Have you ridden that yet? I think I'll give that a try this weekend. I have a feeling it will be a bit too high and probably ultra-isolated from snow feel.
  19. Hmm, not sure if its perfect yet. Jack, I remember you mentioning Chamucos Tequila a couple times in the past and have been trying to keep an eye out for it. Lo and behold I found a bottle tonight (the last one no less) at Costco of all places. Went to search for it on BOL to discuss, but no results. I sure am enjoying the tequila right now though. :)
  20. Its always an open invite! And you guys were invited of course: http://www.bomberonline.com/VBulletin/showthread.php?37175-June-Carvers-Classic-3-24-25 :)
