  1. Once again the forum is over thinking things. The importance of your hands: Without step in bindings it is quite difficult to clip in. The rope tow or poma lift can be very challenging. The bitch slap is impossible.
  2. Wow Mike, you have gotten so much better at rail slides!
  3. I can't remember his name but he is the boot fitter at Crystal Mtn. who used to work for Sturtevants in Puyallup. I would talk to him. I'm sure if you call the demo shop at Crystal they can put you in contact with him. I think he was the top boot man in the state when I moved away.
  4. The downhill skier always has the right of way, no matter how erratic and spastic they are. I would have chased him down and bitch slapped him. This has happened to me one more than one occasion, if they pretend nothing happened they will just do it again, maybe to a kid. I have gone so far as to chase them into the lift line, pop my board off and tell the lift op to call patrol. I then informed them that they would not be allowed on the chair until patrol arrived. I have also gone so far as to ride up behind them and knock them down.
  5. Wow! Best carving day of the season so far. Got first and last chair. 15-20 people max, most only lasted for a couple of hours. Sunny with 1-2" of new on the sides, groomers got better after the lunch (part of the mountain rental package). I'll post some pictures when I have time. This was originally the 2nd annual memorial for my friends mom, then his dad passed less than two weeks before this event. I got some nice shots of both parents' ashes being scattered off of the chairlift as I rode up behind them. For those who don't ski/board, patrol was letting them ride up the chair and giving them sled rides down.
  6. Yes, his parents used to own Inn of the 7th Mountain resort. I'm trying to set something up with the mountain and Bomber for next season. Stay tuned.
  7. I love that pic, kind of gives perspective to the Anthony Lakes experience. Today was rough, it had rained then frozen then snowed just enough to make it appear smooth. Tomorrow should be better, 1-2" in the forecast. I'll be sure to post a picture, our numbers are looking smaller than last year. I bet we have less than 15 people tomorrow, including patrol. I'm getting first chair anyway.
  8. Baker City is going off! I saw four cars go through a green light before it turned back to red. I'll see anyone who makes it at Anthony Lakes tomorrow, (I have a red jacket and black pants), if the snow seems grippy near the lodge it's just from all of the spilled beer due to "Winter Carnival 2016". Looks like there is a small front coming in, we might have some powder by Sunday.
  9. Didn't they stop making F2 last year? I've broken F2 bails, they are made of steel, Bombers are aluminum, I've stripped out the lugs on Bombers but never broken a bail.
  10. I used VRBO when I went to SES a couple of years ago. I ended up downtown Aspen in a converted condo with a kitchenette and wood stove for about $150 a night. Better than the cheapest hotel option.
  11. We need to set up a Meadows session sometime. Maybe after spring break?
  12. Book it now, I know it's only Baker City but the state basketball tourney is there that weekend.
  13. Why is everyone falling to one side or another in these pictures? Can't you stand up and ride like normal people?
  14. The Monday rate was originally going to be $40, I believe they are now asking for $80 to recoup the cost since only about 20 people have RSVP'd. The way I'm looking at it is my Liftopia tickets were about $23 a day, add that to the $80 and divide by 3 and it comes out to just over $40 a day. The mountain is closed Mondays, the only time it has been open on a Monday in recent years was last year for the same event. Also, of the people who have RSVP'd, only about 5 of them will actually have the ski legs to go more than a couple of hours. I was among 3 people last year who boarded the chair at 9AM, so the first couple of hours it was nearly empty.
  15. Often if you scream loudly as you are standing up "I'm out of control!!!", people will clear a path for you. I've actually taught a few snowboarders and unloading is one of the hardest things to learn. Weight on the front foot is key. A good practice is on flat ground, push off with your free foot and try to see how long you can balance on the other, without putting your free foot down for as long as possible.
  16. I used to do that while holding onto the back of the seat with my other hand. Then one day the back of the seat lifted up and I fell about 30 feet.
  17. **UPDATE** - Due to low enrollment, the price for a private ski area day 3-9-2016 has been set at $80.00. However, daily tickets are $35.00 through the ski area, I just purchased 2 tickets on Liftopia for $43.99 (so I can ride Saturday through Monday) and there are 2 left. There are also sets of tickets with cancellation options on Liftopia for $51.79 and $60.90, which would be a 3 day total of less than $44.00 a day. Saturday, lifts run 9-5, Sunday is nearly empty, Monday looks like we might have about 30 people. There is R/V hookup and cheap on mtn. yurt rentals. Hotels in Baker City are also very reasonable. ** I will need to RSVP to hold a block of tickets for BOL peeps by the end of January. ** For those of you who have already replied, please let me know if you still want to attend (I may try to ask them to add a limbo carve contest to the Saturday Winter Carnival).
  18. Due to my new role as a responsible adult, I will not be able to attend this years festivities. I'm hoping to revert to my old status so I can make it next year.
  19. I would suggest going to Powderhouse on Century Drive or calling them as soon as they open (8:am I think) and renting a powder board. Or be at the mountain to rent at 8:30 from the demo shop. It's going to be busy. A free ride board will definitely work better than a carver, but a newer powder board will allow you more runs with less effort.
  20. I'm shooting for Monday as well, just not sure of what time. I'm in a bright red jacket, I wear hard boots, I usually fall directly under the lift.
  21. Thanks Dan! I'm still trying to figure out if I can make it there at all. I might have to bribe my wife with home appliances.
  22. Bryan, could you please move this to the ride board? Maybe some of the spud slicers from NICE will see it then. Thanks.
  23. Look at Sun Peaks, 2nd largest in Canada, no crowds, affordable slope side lodging, sweet groomers and activities for kids. Also drier and more consistent snow.
  24. Mark, can you post some info on the lodging and tickets, once you get the antennae on your phone adjusted again?
  25. Sounds like we have a party starting! I forgot to mention full day snowcat for $199 (cheaper than anywhere I've seen). Maybe if we get enough people who are into the cat experience we can book it for Sunday. http://anthonylakes.com/cat-trips/ http://anthonylakes.com/event/snow-blast/
