JRAZZ
I seem to never have enough room in the forefoot. My foot is not wide but my arch is pretty high and this leads to a very tight fitting boot up front. I've tried sizing up and then I have no support. This happens in both soft and hardboots, and yes, I do heat mold my liners. Almost in desperation I tried throwing a 3/4 insole in the boot. It seems to give me enough arch support so my foot doesn't collapse but I have more room. What am I missing? Is this stupid? Should I just find a really low volume insole? Any other ideas? SunSurfer
Does it work for you?
TVR
Everyone is different, so if it works for you, helps you, or is just comfortable man.... just go for it... I use step-ins due to a hip injury from 20 years ago, and when I race on occasion, people tell me step-ins are not as good as the bail type... Do I care? No... Why? ... Because if I switched to bails, I could not get in and out of my bindings and although they might be better logically, not being able to get into my bindings and quitting from it seems to be worse than not using the bindings used by most... Seriously, if it works for you, go for it... None of us are doing this as a career....
lowrider
Boots that fit well are a rare thing. You do whatever it takes to make it better. Boots are symmetrical your feet usually aren't. Best fitting boot i had used leather liners boots died and i should have saved the liners. I Pitched them in the shop stove and have regretted it ever since
b0ardski
I've cut down insoles to get more volume in the toebox before, if the edge behind the ball of the foot doesn't bother you Saul Goodman
Mr.E
Might be worth tracking down a good fitter. If these work for you, awesome, but I think I'd rather full length foot support and then do some shell work to buy you the room you need where you need it. No shortage of good boot fitters in this part of the world. I've had great luck with Larry in Boulder. Surefoot can do shell work and garantees their footbeds, and they there are enough of them in the world you'd be set up.
Pat Donnelly
Drop a line to Beckmann. My $.02, be sure to use a toe cap and maybe add a wrap of tape to increase the volume during your molding process. Search out a thin orthotic. JRAZZ
I'm trying to figure out if it's somehow detrimental to use these insoles. Like I said, I have the same problem with softboots as well so the fitter can't help me there.

The pattern looks like it might have been taken from Ethel Mertz’s housecoat, but I don’t think that’s detrimental. Unless you object to being beaten by Loveland toughs.
hknz
Grinding the boot board (or making a thinner one) is an option, if you use MS951. D700 has quite big volume, so I think the liner is the problem. I suggest Zipfit which you can take away material above the instep.

Carvin' Marvin
I've been using a hacked up superfeet insole in my right boot for a few seasons now. works great no problems. I don't feel that its ever shifted or caused any hotspots and gives plenty of room for my fat foot.
Odd Job
I have a custom superfeet cork insole; the top half or so of the insole is just fabric.
