Jack M
I think this needs to happen soon. (prolly not this year though)
rikytheripster
Awesome idea, You could have it in parts ranging from basics to advanced, a drill section could also be included.
Mike T
Even if I miraculously achieved a level where a well thought-out video would no longer help me, I'd buy it in an instant just to have it on hand to play it for friends. Anything to get more people on plates :D
Galen
Yup.

CarvCanada
Yes, with the type of riders that are ridiculously good and make everything look easy! And please add gratuitous carve porn at the end!
CarvCanada
Stance set-ups explanation would probably be a hit for beginners as well

Jack, A video would be a nice reference. hey-I finally took a lesson with Erik Beckman this weekend. Thanks so much for the recommendation--he was so helpful!!! Before my lesson, I was feeling great ripping carves down Haymaker. Yet I was unknowingly riding with a poor set-up resulting in a less than desirable technique--like hunching over. After my lesson, with trail maps stuffed into my boots and spare change wedged into my bindings to offset my cants, I was back to the Tote Road working on basic carves with a more upright posture and balanced stance. It was a humbling experience, but boy my carves felt so much better!!! Erik mentioned that it is difficult to fine tune riding technique when one has flaws or inefficiencies in their boot/binding interface. Some mention in your video of the binding/cant set-up and how it relates to proper body alignment over the board would be extremely helpful. I can't wait to get back up to the 'Loaf for another lesson with him!!
ar(angel
I'd pop it in the DVD player at my local shops that play all those damn free-ride DVD's and educate those people!!! I believe, if I'm not mistaken, that I mentioned this in a thread some time this last summer....... Put me on the mailing list Jack!!! Guest aikidan
Count me in for a copy, particularly if you include set-up insights as described above. dan

bobdea
I would buy one
zenyogi4
Yes Jack we need one, but include in it race techniques, gate bashing and transitions in slow motion. Look talk to me if you need production assistance. Dave
Jack M
This would just be a general carving video - I think a race technique video would need to be a separate thing.

Scratch these comments from the record. :) I just spent some time reading Gilmour's "Get Dialed" thread again. If he's able to make a DVD of the concepts taught in his clinic, these issues would already be covered.
Miguel
I know of a few people that would buy one. It's way overdue.
Jack M
I'm sorry if I've gotten people's hopes up prematurely. This is just in concept stage only. Many things will have to fall into place before this will happen ($$$$ to say the least). I don't think we could afford to hire professional videographers/producers and such, we'd probably have to rely on some generosity from the carving community. I have no video editing skills or equipment. You know what would be sick is one of those remote "tram cams" (I just made that up) like I saw being used for the recent X-games coverage, where the camera zooms down a wire strung over the trail. Guest Frappe
I would definitely get one. If it's done in a DVD format, gratuitous carve porn should be one of the extra features, or a seperate DVD. Think how nice that would be playing in the lodge, instead of those random freestyle videos! Agreed that it's way overdue, and understanding that it's a concept only, thusfar. Looks like the demand is there though!
D.T.
Heck yea!!!! A friend and I were talking about this subject last week. A video like this would be a wonderful tool.
patmoore
That would be great. If you want a good model to go by, see Complete Carving Made Easy by Al Hobart. It's for skiers, not boarders but his approach is very good and the chapters are well organized. If we could get something comparable for hardbooters, I'd buy it in a heartbeat. Guest Hugh 0ne
Yep I'd buy it. I also know someone who shoots snowboard video in Colorado. Amateur but VERY high end. I know it's just a concept right now, but if/when you're ready to take it to the next level, I can certainly put you in touch with him. Guest ethanpt
It would be great. At times I get really discouraged trying to put everything together and try to improve without input. Its kind of frustrating that I have to drive 4 + hours to get a lesson at Sugarloaf.
mirror70
Jack, I have all of the necessary equipment for making the footage and editing it, and I know of at least two film students who would love to help out. Let me know if you want help.
